Algorithms
Definition: Answering an on-mathematical question in a mathematical way.
Goal: Keep you on a certain site for aslong as possible.
With algorithms we immediately think of Google and Facebook, which use it to show you the best search results and timelines. But anyone who understands a school report understands an algorithm.
The question is: To what further education can a student go?
A school must determine the level at which the pupil transfers to secondary education. They don't just gamble that. They are based on the marks that the student has obtained per subject. The addition of those figures indicates the level. This is a very simple algorithm.
That's how Google works. For example, you type “attention” in the search bar, and Google searches for all websites that contain this word. And gives your website a score. The score gets higher the more the word appears on the website, when others link to your website and whether new information has recently been added.
For example, Google has numerous rules that influence the score, such as,
How old is your website?
How many articles does your website count?
How many comments does your website receive?
Google has more than 200 lines on which your website is selected to appear on page 1 or on page 9583722 in a search query.
Google ranking factors 2021
But what does that have to do with attention?
Algorithms largely determine our news provision.
- Which content is shown on page 1?
- What is shown on your timeline?
and more important, what is shown of your content on the timeline of others?
Algorithms push up popular messages. Articles that are often clicked or liked, are more often presented to others by the algorithms.
If you don't bring your article to the attention of others, the Google algorithm thinks, hmmm... I can throw this post away.
The Google algorithm does not think of your importance. They only want to hold your attention for as long as possible. And because we are massively clicking on sensational news, Google's algorithm is pushing that news up. It is, therefore, important not only to write a strong title but also to generate comments, likes and shares.
Kyle and Carson know this too, and have a fantastic opportunity to bring your article to the attention of readers, you can find it on the left under the "Websites "button and it's called Site Comments.

Yesterday I was on a games website and almost clicked on an ad because it looked so much like the games that were being displayed.
When I'm creating thumbnails for my videos I try to make them look different to everyone else's. It's also called "pattern interrupt".
