Perform Keyword Research for Your Content

To ensure your website gets indexed by major search engines properly, use keywords in your site’s tagline, tags and site content. Keywords are phrases or queries that your ideal audience will use in their searches.

To determine the right keyword to use on your website, simply imagine what keyword or search query you would use if you were to search for that information. If you sell eBooks to teach bloggers, for instance, it would be an excellent/working idea to use the term, “eBooks for newbie bloggers” in your blog posts and pages.

While trying to target a specific keyword, don’t be caught with too much of keyword stuffing, because you can get penalized by Google. If you are found bombarding your content with too many keywords, you’ll definitely impact your search ranking negatively.

Use Appropriate Tags

Add appropriate tags and categories to your content so visitors can find your site easily when they search using those terms. Just be watchful avoiding the use of too many tags – between 5 and 10 tags, or categories or both is ideal.

The more tags you add, the less probably your content will get found in the search. So, don’t imagine you can increase your site’s search potential by adding too many tags or categories or both.

Also want to know how do I put in my TXT record into step 2 of the Google Search Console? I've tried several things and it won't let me put anything in that step. Is my TXT my Admin Login URL, FTP Username, or FTP password?

Where do I find the privacy settings in my WordPress back office to ensure they are set as “Visible to search engines”?
Reply
FOta Premium
Do you mean visitors privacy page?
It's normally set as non index. Meaning it won't show in Google.
The reason being it is a template every website uses.
You might risk being seen as duplicate.
Can you explain more?

Thanks for trying to help me, but no that's not what I was asking. I wanted to know how to do this.

If you want Google, Yahoo, Bing and other major search engines to index your content, go to your WordPress back office and ensure your privacy settings are set as “Visible to search engines”.

Select the page/post by clicking Edit.
Scroll down to the bottom of the editor where you will see the SEO settings.
Mine is all-in-one SEO pack and you'll see the meta title, etc.
Just below you will see 3 box you can tick.

I see the boxes you are talking about, but my coach told me NOT to check off those boxes. So are you saying as long as these boxes are not checked off that my post is set as “Visible to search engines”?

Hello LynneClay, you're much welcome on board. I do try to respond to comments within 1 - 24 hours.

To ensure your WordPress profile is set as "visible to search engines", simply log in your WordPress account dashboard, click on Settings, then on Reading. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll find the box for "Discourage search engines from indexing your site" unmarked.

Leave it unmarked, but if marked, unmark it. If you mark the box, you're discouraging search engines from indexing your site. See the image below for a clearer view. Hope this helps! Thanks for your contributions!
