Do I need to create sales pages for my business? This is a question I get asked more and more from marketers that may be just starting out. It is a fair question, because many are already overwhelmed with the many new things they are learning here at Wealthy Affiliate.
They may not see the sense in taking on yet another task when they have so many to get through already. Although this is true to a degree, over time sales pages can be a major piece of your marketing plan, and the smart marketer will learn to use them.
The next question I will get is "Should I do my own sales pages or outsource them?" This is also a valid question, and one I would answer with "It depends..." I say this because everyone has their own situation and circumstance, and where for some doing it yourself is OK, for others not...
Let's explore this a little bit more, but first, a 'tidbit' for you...
When you create a sales page, keep in mind that you always want to overdeliver - give them MORE than what you promise...
OK back to the task at hand: Can you create sales pages on your own though, that is the question...
Should I Do The Writing For My Sales Page?
I know that most people already may have trouble creating content for their websites, and are hesitant just to add that burden - the idea of writing MORE content, in this case, sales copy just seems like too much. This is understandable.
Realize that sales pages are written or formatted quite differently from an article, post or review. Rather than using a conversational tone, you are using strong words and a lot of focus on a few specific areas, and unless you understand the psychology of what you are creating in words, you likely will not be very good at writing a sales page.
This sounds rather blunt perhaps, but it is true. You have to learn how to write this kind of copy, just as you had to with content based writing. If you simply do not want to do your own pages, there are many options out there for you...
What Are The Options To Consider For Creating Sales Pages?
As mentioned, no worries...If you do not want to go through the hassle of putting a sales page together, you can use other options. You still need to know what they should look like though, because you will be paying one way or another if someone else does it...
This is why this tutorial will help you whether you choose to create your own sales pages or have someone do it for you. If you know what to look for, you will likely have better success either way...
So let's look at the first option which is to create your own sales pages...
(1) INVEST THE TIME AND CREATE YOUR OWN SALES PAGES...
My candid advice: If you have the time to invest to learn how to write effective sales pages, I highly recommend doing so. These will be a major portion of your online marketing program over time, you will be writing many of them.
It will take some time initially, but there is a lot of free training on the Internet to help you, one of which is this training! You can also buy a book, take a course, online or offline, or hire someone to teach you.
I like the tutorials online such as this one, because they are specifically designed to help you learn how to write sales copy and what to include. Once you have the requirements, it will still take practice, practice, and more practice.
Additionally, as you actually use your sales pages in your online marketing business, you will test to see which are more effective, and why. Over time, you will get better and better at it.
(2) HIRE SOMEONE TO DO THE DESIGN AND COPYWRITING FOR YOUR SALES PAGES...
Of course you can hire someone to do all the work for you. There are many professional copywriters that you can find through outsourcing websites such as Fiverr or Upworks where professional (or supposed professionals) will do the work for you.
Be aware that you will have to pay a decent amount of money for their services, because such an expert does not go for cheap (at least the good ones do not). Certainly it is an easier route to go though, as long as you understand what you are looking for and at when you are accepting a sales page from a copywriter ...
My Recommendation: Do It Yourself At Least One Time!
There is nothing like hands on to really learn something. You can read a book about cooking all day long, but once you get in the kitchen and start banging around and chopping, slicing and dicing, you really understand what cooking entails.
You can make things easier be designing one basic version of sales page for each kind you will need or use, and then use these as templates. That way you can more quickly get a new sales page completed and ready to go each time it is needed...
A basic template will have the structure set up, with places for adding in videos, images or graphics, plus a standard placement for headlines, the product description, features, benefits, testimonials, FAQ, etc. The difference will be simply the wording and other supporting items you add.
There are a number of landing or sales page tools that you can use also, and some WordPress themes or plugins have standard templates built in that you can use to start with.
Customizing such pages is quite easy to do and once you have some basic copywriting skills for knowing what information to put where, and how you should set the tone and focus of the words you use, plus get your message onto the page in a compelling manner, you will be well on your way to developing sales pages that convert visitors.
How Do You Write Your Own Sales Copy?
You are here, so you are already well on your way...Let's assume that after you have completed this short tutorial you have a somewhat decent understanding of what sales copy is and looks like.
You completely understand that the content for the sales page is the type must be extremely focused and designed to sell whatever product or service you are promoting or selling.
Therefore the tone of your copy for the sales page reflects this...
Note the difference: Whereas for content where you are seeking organic traffic you will use a non-sales tone, with these kinds of pages you need to sell, use strong words and phrases, and write in an active voice.
My advice is to go through this training, then look at some different sales pages to see how they look, determine why they are compelling and effective, see if they have all the elements included. Do they all fit together, does the page flow, is there a strong call to action, etc.
Bottom line: For your evaluation, ask yourself: "Does this page convince me to buy the product or service, and why?"
Next, let's learn what it takes to write the best darn sales pages for your internet marketing program ===>
Thanks a lot.
With a warm smile.
