We are all so concerned about how to get better rankings in Google that we tend to lose focus on exactly how to do that. For the past couple of years UX, User Experience, has been the ever growing driving force. According to Google a better UX equals higher SEO for your website content. And why is that the case? Because of mobile SEO.

The majority of people who search the internet do so on a mobile device and not on a desktop or laptop computer. Smartphones and tablets are how most of the world read our websites. Google knows this and now requires all websites to be mobile friendly. When a website is mobile friendly it basically means that it can be properly viewed on a smaller screen.

SEO IN 2015 AND BEYOND

In April 2015 Google required that all websites pass a mobile friendly test. Those that did not had to be changed because if a website was not mobile friendly then they would be omitted from mobile search results. This is why having a website that not only is mobile friendly but also gives a great UX, is vital for higher SEO.

In 2016 the role of a great User Experience took on a bigger importance if you should want the best rankings for your website. With the majority of people surfing the net on a mobile device, if your website and its content do not translate well on a smaller screen, your UX will be poor. This will result in lower rankings. So what can you do?

Great tutorial as always! But regarding LSI keywords, using them won't be against the rule of 1 keyword/1 post?

Thank you.

No, using LSI keywords will not go against the rule of one keyword per post because they are synonyms of the target keyword.

Example, if your target keyword was Samsonite Carry-On Luggage your LSI keywords could be...

Travel Bag
Hard Shell Case
Airline Carry On
Backpack
Rolling Luggage

Google uses LSI keywords the same way they do your target keyword, to know what your content is about without you having to repeat your target keyword more than twice.

Thanks Rob, I take your word for it :)
I think LSI keywords would come naturally within a well-structured and thorough content anyway, but it's wise to keep an eye on them.
It's my understanding that focus keyword should be in the title and somewhere in the first paragraph (or last?) and that would be it.

That is correct. This is why you always hear Kyle, myself and others say that the target keyword should be in the title and in the first paragraph. After that just write naturally.

When you naturally write out your content, and being aware not to mention your target keyword beyond the first paragraph, your content will "naturally" contain LSI keywords.
