Sleep is Overrated!
Is it just me or does anyone else wish that we didn't need and/or have to sleep?
I've only slept 6 hours since Friday morning at 6am and I plan not to until at least midnight tonight so 6 hours sleep in the past 66 hours.
It has been such a productive and exciting weekend of learning, earning, teaching and sharing that I haven't even been sleepy much at all.
The only reason that I plan on going to bed tonight at midnight is because I wake up every weekday morning with my 17 year old son.
He is a Junior in High School so I wake up at the same time he does so that I can let him know that I love him and to let him know to have an amazing day & not to forget to be awesome!
Most days I stay up working online until after lunch then I have a quick siesta until about 2:30pm as my son gets out of School at that time and usually arrives home soon after.
Weekday nights and weekends all depend upon what we have going on. Because my son is a 17-year old, he spends time with Friends as well as His GirlFriend who is a Senior, so many nights and weekends I also work online learning, sharing, earning and teaching.
Now that the weather is finally getting better we will be fishing more (I despise cold weather and don't like ice fishing, sitting still isn't my way) (Moving from Michigan gets my vote except for the fact that my son doesn't want to leave until after High School Graduation)
Having the ability to still work while relaxing when necessary thanks to modern technology is a blessing when Friend need my assistance.
So, even though most days I average about 8 hours sleep counting my nap, I still would love not to need to.
Is sleep overrated?
No, it really isn't.
We all need sleep but am I the only one that would love not to need to sleep?

I too would love to not need sleep. I average about 3 hrs a night for 2-3 weeks and then I crash for 8-9 hrs. Then start all over again. The problem is that after a few nights of so little sleep, my brain doesn't function. I'm in a fog. Which means I'm not getting any work done.....
We all need a good 8 hours sleep per night - or spread over the day, if you count your afternoon nap. But, do I wish sometimes things and/or people did not get in the way of my productive flow? ALL THE TIMES!!! So I really know what you mean, Tony.
In passing, I think I would be much more proactive if I were able to have my afternoon nap too. They call it power nap, and some Japanese companies allow their employees to have one. Brilliant idea, if you ask me :)

There are certainly times, when you feel like going on and on and none stop. Too there are times, when you feel , you just want to slow down, I think we need to respect our bodies when they send such signals, as failure to respect that may have long term effects.
Hence , Tony I do agree, sleep in not over rated, when it is needed, lets go for it and when we feel we can push on, we may take the risk.
Hello Tony,
If I don't get my 8 hours of sleep each night I am like a bear with a sore head. I just bite everyone's head off if they dare to speak to me and certainly can't concentrate on doing anything.
While I accept we all have different needs I am in the categeory on no sleep no worthwhile work.
Yes I would love to be able to go with out sleep sometimes, especially when doing training and having to stop at a crucial time.

Sleep is essential as part of a healthy lifestyle! There has been times when I get engrossed in something and I have just wanted to carry on doing what I’m doing.
All the advice directs us to the importance of quality rest. I think your afternoon siesta gives you your second burst of energy!
Quality sleep is important - all about the Balance again!
I enjoy that sleep is part of my day, so I enjoy the fact that I need to sleep - it keeps me sane and it resets my inner clock!
Thanks Tony

Sleep is a necessity for a healthy lifestyle and is as important as eating healthy foods and exercising -- https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/10-reasons-why-good-sleep-is-important.
You said you only slept 6 hours in 66 hours which essentially says you slept less than 2.5 hours per day for 3 days! Sleep deprivation may lead to brain damage --

Be careful my friend, and get the sleep your body needs. Nothing is more important than your health. I hope this helps.
Wholeheartedly agree we need good sleep! I am no good if I do not sleep well. Can't concentrate or really be productive. I read through your links and all I can say this is scary stuff.
Hi Tony, you are right, sleep is not overrated, it is very important. In 2004 I did not sleep for almost 30 days and that almost killed me. I suffered a nervous breakdown. Lack of sleep destroys your immune system, cause diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Multiple Sclerosis, etc...
And you must go to bed by 9:30 pm, before 10:00 pm. It is said that going to bed after 10:00 pm for 3 weeks straight can lead to diabetes and other health problems.
So Tony, go to bed, the world or WA is not going anywhere, when you awake, they will still be there, so take your rest. Okay?
I can only speak for myself. I find I sleep solidly for about 19 hours per night, but then I have only half a kidney after cancer took the rest so I am also on dialysis three times a week.
Two points, however, I would like to add to the mix.
1. The definition of success I work with is "the progressive realisation of a worthy ideal while remaining well adjusted". I question whether 6 hours sleep in 66 could be said to fulfil the remaining well adjusted part of that definition.
You may feel capable but I suggest the adrenaline that is flowing through your body could cause damage if allowed to continue at that rate.
2. Sleep allows the subconscious mind to catch up while there is not a whole lot of stimulus coming through your sense gates (hearing, seeing, taste, smell, touch) so sleep is not simply wasted time at all.
That's my 2 cents worth, But the choice, as always is yours.
I am afraid sleep is greatly underrated nowadays.People don't get enough sleep, and the consequences can be really bad. I have read that many big companies all over the world try to install so called sleep capsules for their employees to be able to have some short periods of sleep at day time.to improve their productivity. But I agree- we would all love more time to do things.:))

Hi Tony, I often want to work longer and not sleep, but have found it is essential to get good sleep. I was watching webinars regularly a few times a week in the middle of the night last year which is quite disruptive to sleep patterns, and unhealthy I think Best Alan
