How do you find motivation?

If you only feel discouraged and have little motivation, everything can look black. The light you once saw has gone out and it does not look like it's going on again in a short time. But if there is something you should keep in mind if you feel discouraged, it is that the sun always shines behind the clouds.

Motivation is what drives us to make decisions, makes us progress and keeps us moving. If you have no motivation, you keep pushing things out for you. Over time you will give up projects if you do not find solutions and that will be a bite for your self-confidence, after which you can also feel guilty.

A lack of motivation can arise from discouragement by different living conditions, such as not being able to find a job. You think you can best throw the towel in the ring. At these times of crisis, when everything seems dark and gray, there are always ways to get out, but it is necessary to keep going and find a way to motivate yourself if motivation is not something that is natural coming.

Think about why you started

If you can not find the motivation to perform a task, first think about why you wanted to do it. The reasons you want to do something will be your driving force and help you reach your goal. A strong reason will be enough to gather all your emotional courage and do what you have to do.

If you do not feel motivated or you think you do not have the strength to reach your goal, it is because the reason behind this is not good enough. In other words, it does not really interest you.



An example to make this point clear is people who want to stop smoking. If they are able to stop, it is usually because they have a good reason for this, for example because they get serious health problems if they continue to smoke. If they do not stop smoking, it is because they are not convinced that they really have to.

When you think about your goals, you have to wonder if they are strong enough to withstand all the emotional investments that they demand. If the motivation fails, think about why you want to do something and keep this in mind as you try to reach your goal. This sense of purpose will increase your intrinsic motivation.

Even if the dream is big, start bit by bit

You must always have big dreams, so that you feel inspired to reach them, but if you take the path to achieving your goal, you have to do that bit by bit to strengthen yourself in every next step.

For example if you have your own company and you have to call your customers, but you do not want to do this because you have bad news. Start with a more realistic attitude and just call a few. It is important that you build a strong slingshot that can push you forward if problems arise on your path. Little by little, without you realizing it, your motivation will become stronger and stronger.

Do not forget to take care of yourself

If you feel as if you do not have the willpower to continue, or that things do not go as you wanted, you need to find perseverance, courage and pride somewhere within yourself. There is no reason to look for the victim role or to think that everything will go wrong. There is no room for those thoughts if you want to feel better and motivate yourself to achieve your goals. Do not forget the following important points:

  • Visualize your success. Visualization is a powerful tool, because if you can imagine it, you are one step closer to achieving it. Your mind does not see the difference between what is real and what is not real. Your mind sees your goal and imagines how you can achieve it.
  • Develop a good support system. Avoid negative people and surround yourself with people who help you feel motivated. But do not be completely dependent on others to feel motivated. Spend a few minutes a day to think positively.
  • Remember that it is not about the goal, but about the journey to it. If you enjoy what you do, you will always be able to find motivation.

Great post, motivation certainly comes from within and something we have to continually work on, but like most things, it is a habit, and remembering the goals throughout our journey will help us push through the bad spots.
