What Are You Eating?
3 Stages of Health Care!
I guess you just know that an RN just has to write about Health related stuff, Right? When it comes to Health Care, there are 3 stages, 1) Primary, 2) Secondary and 3) Tertiary.
So, Primary Health, (the one that no one does or cares about) is where the person, YOU, takes responsibility of their health through diet, exercise, sleep, laughter, de-stress etc.
Secondary Health is where you enter the System. Come into Hospital, go through the tests, get diagnosed with a Health Condition, prescribed medications and require follow-up. This is where most people live, only care when something is wrong.
Lastly, Tertiary Health Care is where you require some long-term treatment, such as a rehab unit to get over conditions that require ongoing treatments.
However, if you asre thinking that a lot of secondary and tertiary problems could be avoided if people focussed more on Primary Health, then you would be correct!
Today's Epidemics!
There are a number of diseases today that are at Epidemic Level and these diseases can be traced back to lifestyle. Some of these diseases are Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity, Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) Auto-Immune Disorders, and Anxiety.
Now, it is a well known fact that many of the diseases/disorders listed above could be avoided by changes to way we eat. BUT, this is a subject loaded with many difficulties for so many people. We as a society have such easy access to all types of food and societal pressures can be tough as well.
Cronometer!
Now, due to ignorace so many people have absolutely no idea of the amounts of nutrients thaey are putting into their bodies. People are filling up far too much on worthless carbohydrates and sugars, without enough vegetables. So what we need is an App that would tell us the amounts of the nytrients that we are consuming.
Introducing Cronometer. Cronometer is an amazing App, you simply input what your diet consisted of that day, food and fluids and (for the paid version) a bar graph will be presented to you outlining ALL the food Groups, nutrients, vitamin, minerals. This is a great guide as it will reveal for you where you are deficient, and also where you are over doing it.
Give it a try at Cronometer.com
Everything Starts!
Time for a sobering thought. Every health condition and disorder can be traced back to what you put in your mouth. Take away the genetics factors, which seem to be less of a cause these days.
So Primary Health starts with what you are putting in your mouth. Is it time for a look at what we are eating? Where we are falling short and where we are doing ok.
Final Thoughts!
Naturally, this is such a huge topic and I could rave on for hours, but I hope you gained something from this post and will give Cronometer a spin.
Sincerely,
Tim Murphy RN

I give my clients a nutrition list with 3 tables the first one where all the different nutrition is listed what the can eat freely. Then a table with nutrition that should me not so often on the menu the last table is with the nutrition that should be eaten less as possible. Most clients already get a big eye-opener when they see the list. Plus I advise them to avoid foods that have a commercial to promote it.
Have a great day

Hey Tommy,
I only tried that once, seemed ok. I like the HIIT form of exercise, coupled with Walking and Planking.
Any type of HIIT that releases Nitric Oxide is great for lowering BP and also building muscle mass.
Never really needed an app for exercise.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Tim
Hey Tim,
I also never used an app I sport my whole life and the last 40 years I train in the gym.
It's more what I sometimes advise as a support to people that ask my help but don't have the finance to train with me in-person or with my app. with training programs and nutrition plan.
Cheers,
Tommy
Hi Derek,
I hope you find value in it. I really liked the paid version, gave much more information. No, it is not an affiliate site for me.
Best thing I liked is that it showed me where I needed adjustments in what I ate.
Cheers,
Tim
Hi Tim,
This is a great post filled with valuable information. I will be heading over to the Cronometer.com site later on today. I think that is a great idea.
Thank you for the share,
Best of health and success,
Michael

Change the negative discipline for the daily Bagel and Pastry that we partake in every day and replace them with an Apple and 2 bananas, daily.

Hi, Tim.
Thanks for the great reminder. I think I am eating too many carbs that then turn into sugars.
I will check out the app right now.
Thanks.
Paul.
My Pleasure Paul.
Not too many people know this, but eat too much Protein and it will also turn to sugar, through Gluconeogenesis.
Hope the Ap helps you,
Cheers,
Tim
Thank you Tim.
About seven months ago, I took some bad internet advice and hit the Keto Diet fairly hard. I got very sick and I have not been able to lose the excess pounds gained ever since.
I did not know what you have just revealed regarding proteins.
Cheers.
Paul.
Be careful who you listen to Paul. My advice would be to trust Dr. Gundry online.
The Keto plan is not bad if done properly. I do a Vegetarian type Keto diet, eating 1 meal a day and fasting 22 hours. Never felt better.
Cheers,
Tim
Hi, Tim.
I would like to learn more about eating just one meal a day and fasting 22. Where can I do so?
Paul.
Online I would recommend Dr Mercola (Mercola.com) or Dr. Gundry (I am assuming DrGundry.com)
There is also Dr. Berg.
A good book is also The Longevity Paradox by Dr.Gundry or Grain Brain by Dr.Perlmutter (Be warned you will never eat carbs again)
Hope this helps Paul. If not email me and I will tell you what I do.
Cheers,
Tim
Hey Jim,
Glad you liked it. I loved the app, got the paid version I think it was like $6/month, but very educational and eye-opening.
Cheers,
Tim
Hi Tim,
Thanks for sharing this with us, I will be looking into the app.
We always eat a healthy diet so will check it out, the exercises are going good for us both, did a set down at the park this arvo.
Thanks
Darren :)
Glad to hear Darren.
I did them in the park overlooking the water this morning. Got a few stares but that does not bother me.
That app made a world of difference for me last year.
I thought I ate pretty healthy as well.
Cheers,
Tim
