Wrapping up my Entire Life in a Rucksack and heading out

It's been a long time coming due to COVID-19, but I have finally taken the step of selling everything I own (apart from a few books, which are in storage until I settle permanently).

I have been trying to get out of the cold in the UK for a while, and eventually realized that Mexico is the only country that people can go to from the UK without a test or a vaccination. So the decision was in effect taken out of my hands, at least for a while.

I have a visa for fifty one days and will then travel down to Belize for a while, and then reenter Mexico if I decide to stay longer. Ultimately, I want to settle in India or Sri Lanka but for now the average temperature of 26 degrees in Mexico is working out fine.

At the moment, I am staying in a posh hotel as I need business Internet for two days. I am involved in co- teaching a two day course. Breakfast this morning was refried beans and humour. The lady in the photo was given an umbrella stand for her handbag

No excuse now not to get serious about my new but neglected MMO site. I have bene planning it for a while . Now no reason not to create a YouTube channel.

I shall also be starting a travel blog when I settle down a bit. Super tired at the menent. I t was super stressful to get rid of all my belongings. I am not attached to them they are just stuff, but getting anyone to collect and dispose of them at the moment was a challenge. I have moved continents five times, but this is certainly the most challenging one.

Congrats Catherine!

I will most probably do the same in a couple of years.

I live in Canada, so you think that the UK is cold? Think again!
I despise everything winter-related and where I live it's almost a 5-month stretch (November to April)...
Anyway, enjoy the nice weather and stay safe! 🙂

Denis

I hear you Denis, but the difference is in Canada there is better insulation, but I understand the need to escape

Great to hear that you have finally managed to escape the Margate winter Catherine and are enjoying some more agreeable temperatures right now!

It does surprise me that you were able to travel unvaccinated though.. I haven't been able to get back to the UK recently and I AM vaccinated!!

Take care of yourself down there ok, and I hope it all works out well for you!:-)

Mexico is the only country you can travel to unvaccinated. I think that is a French regulation not to be able to go to the UK. The UK is open but here in Mexicans the Americans have to be vaccinated, but that is a USA requirement rather than a Mexican one. One thing I have found is that there is a lot of BS about travel

You're not wrong there Catherine... travel is most definitely not straightforward at the moment!

I think it was more of a Swiss regulation for me though at the time.

It's much easier for me to fly to near where my parents are from Geneva, but there was a large risk I would have to quarantine in a Swiss hotel on return for 10 days! Imagine the price of that!!

Hopefully by midterms when a saner government regains control and we oust the liars, that Vax requirement will be a thing of the past, Catherine!

Jeff

A saner government Jeffrey!! Best of luck with that my friend!!

I know, Nick! I know! Much can be said exactly the same for all of the other governments of the world right now too!🙄🤣

They certainly can Jeff!!🤣🐫

Yes, indeed, Nick!

🐫😹

I'm going to Cozamel and we must have them for the boat, or I wouldn't have gotten them.
Barb

yes it will be exorbitant but perhaps less then the 10k it costs to quarantine in Australia

Absolutely Jeff, whilst governments feel they can create laws there will never be sanity

Very true, indeed, sadly, many things need to change, and fast!

Jeff

Maybe a little less than down under Catherine.. but not by a lot!

I hope you are surviving the tropical weather there my friend!:-)🌞🌞

Loving the weather, although still wearing a sweater at night, Nick.

Great to hear Catherine! But if that was me I would have the air con on maximum all night!

Good morning Catherine,

That's very bold of you but good for you for making it happen!

I know you have travelled around a lot over the years, I'm sure you will have a fantastic experience. I hope it will become easier for you to travel as gradually the truth is coming out regarding Covid. I don't mean it didn't exist, but I knew all the time that the figures were inflated and meant for scaremongering!

Travel blog sounds like a great idea, you can literally earn while you are travelling around! I know it's not quite as simple as that but I think you know what I mean.

I really wish you every success with your new venture and I look forward to hearing more.

Have a great day.

Roy

Roy, thank you so much for your lovely comment. The truth will out, but how long it takes will remain to be seen. The worse thing about Mexico is there are no exemptions from wearing a mask and until two days ago I had never put one one, but I will live and the climate makes up for a lot, even though the fear here is tangible

They were, indeed, Roy! Most people know that these variants are the Flu (in case you weren't aware, the common cold and flu are--you guessed it--corona viruses!)

Jeff

Good morning Catherine,

Thank you for your reply, it's appreciated.

The truth is starting to come out, Catherine, which is good. I'm sure you have plenty to do at the moment, however, I joined a platform called Gettr. It's very similar to Twitter, the only difference is that you don't get banned if it doesn't suit their narrative! I believe they have more accurate news, I also believe it will grow massively and it may end up being a good business tool!

I don't know what the rules and regulations are in Mexico regarding masks, but I didn't wear one here. Obviously, laws may be different in Mexico. It seriously saddens me that people are so scared, that's an awful place to be!

On a brighter note, what a wonderful thing to do, Catherine, I look forward to hearing more soon.

Have a great time.

Roy

Good morning Jeff,

I'm not sure exactly how many deaths were claimed here in the UK from Covid. I believe it was around 180,000+! The real figure now is just coming out at around 17,500 approximately, which is exactly what I expected!

We have to also remember that this is less than the normal flu number for a year. And of course, no one died from the flu last year! It's the biggest hoax the world has ever seen!

Have a great day,

Roy

Apparently no one has died from the flu for the past couple of years, Roy! Yes, finally the hoax is crumbling! The sooner the better so we can all get back to doing what God intended! Living our lives to the fullest!

Jeff

I hear you, Jeff, this is what I understand, we have been flu-free for two years! The narrative seemed to start grumbling last week or at least properly! It had started a long time before that, but people who hadn't noticed it are now noticing!

I hope we can get back to living life normally, I don't like to say this but I'm not sure we will. (I sincerely hope I am wrong) Probably not appropriate to discuss here but we can discuss this in our next Zoom meeting.

Roy

I totally share your fears, Roy! Let's hope that the damage caused is not irreversible!

Jeff

Indeed Jeff, let's hope so! It's so important to enjoy every day and not take things for granted!

Roy

Wow, sounds like an adventure... my wife and I have LOTS of stuff that needs to go. It is cluttering our garage and one of our bedrooms in our house. I have to empty my garage out in order to set myself a shop for a locksmithing bench and all.

I wish you well on your travels and take care of yourself.

Bob

Bob , it is very freeing to get rid of stuff

It is, indeed, Catherine, but for me it takes time! What I don't give away, I make money on!

Jeff

WoW Catherine, that's a BIG move.
Sounds absolutely marvelous though.

I admire your get up and go attitude,
it's the kind of move I'd make if I was alone.

You'll have to keep us posted, never know who will
be brave enough to join you.

All the best with the move.

Blessings.

Melanie

Well, that is what happened. I am alone. This is the first trip alone since I was widowed, but now I only have to please myself. Thank you for your lovely sentiment

You're very welcome.
