How to improve a website load time
Hi everybody,
Last week I was facing a problem of website loading time. So I posted a question on it. I'm happy to have got many advises and suggestions. I seize this opportunity to thank everyone who responded to my question.
Thank you my wonderful Wealthy Affiliate friends.
Solution:
Somebody was very kind to send me a link where I could test the speed of loading of my website. The system also informed me how to improve.
My problem was with images. You know on food niche we cannot do without pictures.
I had a very beautiful header image that I created myself. However, I didn't pay attention to its size which was 788 Kb.
Research and Development
So what I did (after some experimentation): I opened the banner, which had a png format, then I saved it again as jpeg. To my great astonishment, I saw the size reduced from 788 Kb to 68.3 Kb
Then I noted a considerable increase in the loading speed of my website.
Happy to share this tips to you.

But, is the jpeg pic format clear with good resolution?? sometimes they are distorted while uploading on a website...
Good question. Thx.
No difference is quality. Jpeg is good.
I also tried to save as giff format. Super low quality, very bad.
Hi Metilda,
It very much depends on the dpi of the JPG you are dealing with. if its over 300dpi then you will have a good quality picture. The higher the DPI the better.
I use a site which was recommended by one of the ladies here in the community (can't remember the name sorry) the site is
www.ribbet.com it is quite a good site with various effect options and yes...its free =)
Good luck

Nice tip. I would not thought to save the file with a different extension to get it smaller in size.
Thank you Frank for dropping by.
Thanks for the comment on my website.
My team will reply to you (the yogurt tips).
Thanks for sharing. I often use canva to create my images but when I upload it's giving http error. I figured because it was in png format (as recommended by canva) so I go back to my image and save it as jpeg and it works.
