K...guess I'm just going to sit here and stare at this screen for who knows how long before I finally blow past the writer's block that's been continually afflicting me since beginning this program.

I enjoy writing. I have a lot to say, but it doesn't seem relevant to anything that an affiliate would support. I chose a niche that I personally found interesting and wanted to learn more about, but rather than focusing on the fun and fascinating aspects of the niche, I found myself being more concerned about ensuring my content contained enough, but not too many, keywords. I wrote and wrote and wrote, but discovered I was losing interest in my subject matter. Well, that's not entirely accurate. I still like the subject, but I've burned out on trying to get others interested in it.

What I need to begin doing is writing freely without worrying about keywords and how to incorporate links. Once that's accomplished, I can go back through the content and see where links might fit, rather than writing to the links. I am hoping this will rekindle the fire and keep it steadily fueled. I am pretty sure I started out as a pile of sticks drenched in starter fluid, and I'm hoping there's an ember I can fan back to life from that pile of ashes.

I do plan on pursuing a second niche with my husband, and we have been collecting pics and vids in preparation. It involves food, so it will be lots more fun! Really excited about it! And, I'm not going to focus on how fast can I drive traffic so I can make money ASAP by loading the content with keywords and links.

Don't misunderstand, I know these are extremely important to success in this enterprise, but I let them overrun the fun of doing this. And...I will confess that it's my own fault. I lost my "day" job in April, and we live in an expensive state. I had become the primary breadwinner, and my beloved's income isn't sufficient to support our modest lifestyle. So yes, I panicked and tried to do too much too quickly in hopes of gleaning quick results.

Anyway, thank you for being out there supporting, guiding, encouraging and listening. A prayer or two would be welcomed as well. :-)

Blessings,

When I started to find that I was running out of things to say on my first site, I started a second one. I grew them at the same time and found it was much easier to do them both that way. I have now got two going with numbers 3 and 4 in various steps of fulfillment. I feel encouraged to write about something every day now. I just needed not to focus all my effort in only one site.

I usually just sit and write whatever I am thinking of, and jot down notes for other topics as I think of them. Then I go back and edit for keywords. I find I usually do pretty well without focusing on using them to begin with. I tweak my content a bit and publish it. It works for me.

Great luck in your endeavors!

Candice

You're not alone. I've realized that providing helpful..engaging content trumps everything. If you offer solutions to problems and publish quality content regularly Google will find you. If you are working in a true niche market by definition you will have less competition. I blogged on Tumblr just for fun. No money involved. I wrote honestly and published almost daily. In less than 2 years I had 30,000+ followers and hundreds of hits per day on my posts. There's an audience for everything. And where there is an audience there is opportunity. But the writing has to come from your head and your heart and not your wallet. Hang in there.

Thank you, @OGguitar. I appreciate the example you provided with your encouragement. :-)

I enjoyed reign your Post and thoroughly relate to your situation.

In wanting to provide some positive feedback, I read the response from others on here and two stood out as saying it better than I could. @firstlearn and @HeidiY both provide what I think and feel are the best resolutions to your situation.

My advice would be to consider those options they mention.

Good luck to you Leslie, it WILL work out.

Rick

I agree with your assessment, and I do have to keep telling myself that it WILL work out. Thank you so much!

Hi ThankfulOne, if you're religious like I am, I talk to
"him" he helps me big time. I know he will for you my sister!

He's standing right next to you, waiting!

frank =)

We need a "heart" icon! I so deeply appreciate that reminder. He does, too!

Go to him my dear friend, he want to help you now!

=)

Stop putting unnecessary pressure on yourself. Instead try and relax and think about the good life you will have when you get it right.

walk away and think of something pleasant. When you go back with a clear mind the words will start to flow again.

Good luck!

Derek

Good luck. Find something positive to focus on and that should help you to overcome your writers block.

It sounds like you know how to fix your writing, by just writing what your passionate about and then fitting in the links etc afterwards. That’s exactly what I do. I even go so far as to write the content and then find a keyword that fits.

You only need the key word in the title and then twice within the content so if you’ve written the piece then your really just looking for a keyword title, and because it’s the correct title it will easily work into the first and last paragraph.

Sometimes I need to write one extra paragraph to be able to naturally work in an internal link, but otherwise I can usually find a good spot for an external link, and more often than not even a video.

Also I’ve read lots of people trash their first site and move on to a new niche, so don’t feel bad if your new site takes over and you abandon the first. It’s not a failure, just a learning curve.

HeidiY,

I plan to do exactly what you share above, and I very well may let JBP go by the wayside. It has been a good training ground.

Thank you so much!

Hello Leslie, sorry to hear that you lost your job. That state of being does cause us to try and find someway of generating supplementary income to offset the loss. I think anyone starting an online business hoping to generate income right off the bat will be disappointed. It takes time to attract traffic and have that traffic convert to consumers. That said, all of us get writer’s block, and worse if you are writing for keywords and links. I think you idea is much better and if it was me that is what I would do. Write as if writing to a friend or family member, then see what keywords you have and where you can add links.

HarveyBrown,

Thank you...you are completely right and I already knew that, but I let my fears get the better of me. I appreciate your support and your words!
