My Website Hosted with WA Got Infected
This is very frustrating to handle!
I never expected this is going to happen believing that Wealthy Affilaite servers are secured.
I learned about this issue a day ago when a Facebook friend chatted me after he learned that I'm an affiliate here at WA.
To make the story short, I wanted to send him the link of my WA review so I didn't have to explain to him via chat. Unfortunately, when I tried to visit my site to copy the URL, a black screen appeared with a moving white arrow and a button, with a caption as you can see on the screen shot below.
That black screen flickers and I noticed that the URL is different and also changing per seconds.
A person trying to access my website would really think it's a sort of computer virus. It depreciates the credibility of my website.
I already contacted SiteSupport, but it seemed they can't fix it immediately. They said they are looking into it.
It's very frustrating that some of my website visitors are experiencing this issue as reported from visitors in the Philippines and Kuwait. I can't imagine this happening at the moment when I'm running Facebook ads to drive traffic to my website.
SiteSupport suggests to try opening it in different browser. I used Safari and Chrome already but the same thing happens intermittently.
In addition, someone asked me if I have installed a plugin lately after this happened, but I didn't.
The issue here is that why does it appear? I felt like all the effort I did to develop my website has gone to waste if SiteSupport can't fix this. I don't know until when I'll wait for this to be resolved and I certainly hope this will not happen to any website hosted here in WA.
With the amount we are paying with WA and encountering this problem can really, really be so terrible.
Should you be so kind to try accessing my website, bisayanginvestor.com, please let me know if the issue is replicated and the browser you used.

Hi technie.
I tried it on 4 different browsers and it works fine on all of them. Great website by the way. Hope the problem is resolved.

I know first hand how frustrating this can be. Having a host like WA to fight the problem for you is great to the alternative of hosting your own site and no support. Many hosting companies would simply play it off as a security risk you enabled through a third party plugin. Even if it isn't true, that's what they hide behind...been there done that.
Having someone to help without paying extra means a lot!
Good luck...I didn't see any problems when I visited either.
Thanks
Brian
Thank you! Aside from the tech support, I also love the comforting members here in WA. This a real community which is very inspiring!
Hey Franklin!
I tried your site on Firefox and no problem. I attached a screenshot of your home page to be sure.
I am using Windows 10 on an HP laptop that is one year old. Most major updates have been added.
Thank you so much! I’ll update if ever someone reports to me again. If not, maybe this has been resolved.
Thank you. I tried it with my wife’s phone and it appeared. It shouldn’t be the browser. The thing is it’s intermittent.
Oh, now i know.
I have the same problem with my Chrome. Sometimes when opening new tab my previous tab closes and some ad opens.
It is really annoying.
Hi, I hope things are going better for. I just tried your site and did not find any problems. Well done site by the way.
Sandy
Thank you. I really don’t know when and how it occurs. I thought it is resolved until someone reported to me again.
Thank you for the compliment. :)
Sorry this is happening to a fellow WA member. Hang tight we have a great tech support and they'll get this resolved some things may take a bit longer but it'll get fixed.
Sorry to hear this.
I am sure the the support center will do their best to correct it.
I am a little afraid to click your link because I have had viruses in the passed and had to purchase new computer because of it. So will pass on this.
Keep us updated on the outcome.

Sorry to hear your having an issue. One thing to always be aware of. In your wordpress admin panel on your website under dashboard there is a menu item called updates.
This let's you know of any plugins or themes or even if WordPress is not up to date. It's important to check this regularly and make sure all plugins, themes, and wordpress itself is up to date.
This helps to prevent issues like this. Because when a problem is found the update is issued to fix or prevent the hack from happening.
Another important thing when looking for plugins or free themes make sure that that are being updated. In the plugin browser it tells you some important information. It tells you how many downloads. It gives you a star rating and it tells you when the last time the plugin was updated. These are important things to note.
You want to choose plugins that have been downloaded a lot, Have a high star rating with a good number of ratings, and are frequently updated. This shows the developers devotion to his work and let's you know he stand behind it. It also lets you know if others are happy using it and how many have tried it.
Hope this helps to keep this from happening to you and others in the future.
When I was going through the training we are told to use a specific social plugin. Now the training here in some cases while still valid uses old technology. That plugin had not been updated in three years. I chose to use a different plugin that is currently supported and used by many. Special shout out to onmyterms for suggesting it.

I agree with your insights about plugins. I also made sure that my site is updated. Lastly, I had not downloaded a plugin lately before this occurred.
