A New Milestone: 30 WA Referrals in 30 Days!

I've set baby step goals to help maintain the excitement as my website is growing. One of my goals was to get 30 WA referrals in 30 days, and I've succeeded at that. Of the 30 referrals, I made 5 sales and counting.

It's surprising how laser focused you can get when you set goals. I was constantly thinking, "What else can I do to improve the number of referrals I get?"

I allowed my mind to think about the possibilities and to experiment and test until I found factors I could control that would directly influence my # of referrals. These are the main factors I came up with:

Content relevance - I was writing content that was too broad and not directly relevant to WA. In her training, Grace mentions that to get referrals to WA, the most relevant products to review are:

  • high ticket programs
  • internet marketing training programs
  • and a few other things.

Setting Goals in Google Analytics and Testing - In addition to that, I set goals in Google Analytics according to Jay's recent training, and kept testing ways I could control my flow of traffic to get people on my highest converting pages. If you haven't set Google Analytic goals, I definitely recommend that. Not only do you want to set goals, but you also want to create hypothesis, do experiments, and try to identify patterns between your actions and your results--this will make you much more powerful as an internet marketer!

Pop-ups - I know pop-ups aren't usually a good thing, but I paid attention to AdThrive and Mediavine and where they place their ads on blogger's websites. I decided to use the same space they typically use for a ribbon on my website. This bottom ribbon has been very effective for introducing WA without intruding on the user and disrupting their experience.

In addition to a bottom ribbon, I also added an exit pop-up. This has re-inforced my main goal. If you decide to try this, be mindful that you want a delayed load because otherwise, it can slow down your website.

I've also seen others who use scroll mats, slide-ins, or other conversion tools effectively, so test what works best on your site. One-size doesn't fit all.

Website navigation - I decided to simplify my navigation so it is consistent to the overall goals of my site. In this phase of my business, my main promotion is WA. I have other affiliate offers I promote, but WA is my main focus. Once this goal is achieved, I have a whole different business plan with lots I'm excited about up my sleeve!

SiteSpeed - I had a load speed of 15 seconds about 3 months back, and I didn't even realize that was a problem! That could have definitely impacted my rankings and website growth, but it's something I wasn't paying attention to.

Instead, I was most concerned about aesthetics. Test your website using GTmetrix.com and evaluate if there's anything you can fix to improve your speed, make sure your speed is less than 3 seconds (for Google's sake). Check in my questions and you'll see some of the answers I got from fellow members here when I was struggling to improve my site speed.

Aggressive Publishing - I'm on day 11 of my Youtube challenge and so far, I have 23 videos. Also, I've been posting 5-7 times per week for 13 months. Now that I've added the Youtube challenge into the mix, I published 15 posts over the last 30 days, but it's still pretty aggressive when you combine 23 videos and 15 posts. My videos are averaging about 40 minutes, so they're not short. I haven't been taking any shortcuts in this regard.

Commitment - By now, I was expecting to have my full-time income and it hasn't happened yet, but I've stopped making that the primary metric I look for. My bills are taken care of. I want a second income REALLY BAD, but I know this is the BEST PROFESSION for me, so I've just decided to commit to it, and to be patient because I know it will happen. I'm committed to making it happen.

That's my secret sauce for my 30 referrals in 30 days. Now, I'm working on my next milestone. Hopefully this helps you.
