Just a lazy Sunday Afternoon
I was sitting here trying to make sense of my 2nd page and list an affiliate site, when I realized I had not made a blog. So here I am now trying to post my first blog, and trying to determine what to say. From the post I have read, I notice people writing personal information and interest. Here I am, an introvert trying to figure out how to introduce myself on this beautiful Sunday afternoon in Florida.
Who am I? Most of us will list our jobs or vocations to describe ourselves. Others may discuss our families. But, who are we as individual people? Not an easy task, especially for an introvert. I can tell you I am a loving, caring person; or I could tell you of willingness to help someone else. but who am I as an individual? I can tell you of my three beautiful daughters and six grandchildren, but who am I? In this blog I will introduce myself through my various jobs; a coworker once said I should write a book about my jobs. Personal I don't think that would be of interest, but who knows.
While in high school I attend barber college, becoming the youngest barber in Florida at that time. I was cutting hair my last two years of high school and while attending the University of Florida. Not appreciating my course of study, I dropped out and joined the Marine Corps in the mid 1960's. Fortunately I never saw Vietnam. Upon my discharge I was cutting hair again. Eventually joined the Sheriff's Dept as a dispatcher for three years. I went back to cutting hair after going as high as I could go without being a sworn officer. Eventually I began driving semi's, and become the dispatcher for a trucking firm. Then back to barbering. Became a truck driver for Lyke's Meat Company until hired by the US Postal Service only to retire 31 years later. While working for the Post Office I studied to become a massage therapist. I was doing this part time while at USPS and when retiring began giving massages full time. Am now semi-retired.
You now know briefly my work history, but do you know me as an individual? Maybe next time I will discuss my varied education, perhaps on another Lazy Sunday Afternoon.
God bless you according to His will. Tom

...But can you cut hair? (Just kidding). It's a good thing you found WA then. Or it could have been back to the "Barber Pole" for you. Glad you are here.
Most shops now are unisex, and when I studied, it was barbering. I never learned to cut a women 's hair. That has prevented me from returning to barbering. Within the past 6 months a number of shops "looking" for a barber also want one who can cut a woman 's hair as well.
I hooked my daughter's boyfriend up with the same barber that my father used for his Flat-Top. Like you said, everything else is unisex. Anyone that just wants a haircut, has to wait for the lady getting a perm. X( I'm glad I'm a girl who cuts her own hair.
Tom,sounds like a life well lived. Enjoy your semi retirement and wish for you success with WA .
Thank you Tom. That was quite interesting. Have you decided that when you grow up you want to become a marketer? (LOL) That sounds a little like me only while my vocation was my family, my education was all over the place. Work was whatever was convenient for my family. Hope that you are enjoying it here.
