Images going blurry on WA?

When providing website feedback and providing website comments and just in general looking at other peoples' articles and websites I have now come across this twice seeing images that just out of the blue seemed to have turned blurry. When speaking to the owners of the websites they simply tell me that they do not know what happened to those images as it certainly did not look like that when they first uploaded it.

I am now just wondering if this only happens with free images sourced here on WA? Has anyone else noticed this, because if this is a regular occurence then it might be a good idea to inform Carson about this so they can investigate and make sure this does not continue to happen.

If you have also seen this happen then please do comment below in order to establish how big the issue really is. If it is a widespread issue then I might consider letting Carson know.

Many thanks

Schalk

Schalk, frankly I've never seen this before. I'm wondering if it isn't the site speed and it's slow to load them. Just a thought.

Danny

Nothing to do with loading speed, as the pictures appear in the media library scrambled. My site speed is 98
Cheers Sylvia

Ok Sylvia. Thanks for the info

Hi
yes, this happens only here at WA and it comes from site content when you insert the images than publish to your site.
I believe it is an internal problem here between site content and Gutenberg as before with the classic editor it was ok.
I ask site support for help but they said it is a resizing problem, what I do not believe as I think it is an incompatibility problem.

Cheers Sylvia

Thanks Sylvia for taking the time to explain the matter. So this image issue only happens with websites that are hosted here at WA then. Thanks for the clarity. Hopefully they will sort it soon then for those that do host at WA.

If you write directly in WordPress it is ok. Only if you write in Site content and add pictures. I know not everyone has the problem. But some have.
The solution I got told from site support reload the pictures again in the WordPress site and delete the other ones. That defeats for me the purpose of Site content.
I stopped using Site content as it is double work. Cheers Sylvia

Ok, That helps me, because I generally write directly in wordpress.Interesting!

Thank you, your insight on this is very helpful! Thanks, Sylvia!

There is a plugin called Ewww Image optimizer which might help.

It is most likely from resizing a picture bigger, it will get blurry. you can always reduce a picture, but you can't enlarge it.

Yes but apparently it looked perfect when they posted it originally and for some time. So it is odd that it suddenly changes like that over time.

I thought I was the only only one experienced this kind of problem. I mad a lot of post also and it turns out that the pictures was bluer...

thank you for that observation zseeman.

cheers.

Interesting. If many more comments like this then I might just ask Carson to have a look and state his opinion whether he thinks it is an operator error, hosting issue, issue with where the image was sourced from etc.

yup it must be maybe.

I have never seen this happen before Snhalk

Schalk

Thanks

your welcome

This can happen if you insert a picture and then try to drag it to resize it larger than its original size.

Thanks for this. So maybe it is then more an operator error than a hosting or image error. Good to know about the different possibilities.

I just spoke to one of the owners of the website and she mentioned that her images that went blurry is not images hosted on WA. So maybe the nature of the problem is elsewhere?

Yes I also noticed it and then later when check my website they look ok again
Have a great day
Tommy

That is very interesting. Do you host on WA? Coz another avenue to investigate then is if this only happens to images of those hosting on WA?

Yes I host on WA and prepare my articles in SiteContent there no problem then I publish and some get blur, but later on when check my website it seems normal again
Have a great day
Tommy

Thanks Tommy. I think Sylvia hit the nail on the head here why it is happening to some and not to others.

I have not seen it as yet. But if it's happening, then it should be fixed.
Cheers
