A New Snippet on Bing!

I have been getting traffic to another old post on my website lately so I went to go see where it is ranked. I decided to try Bing first for no particular reason. Lo and behold, my post is number 2 but when I looked up I saw it is also the featured snippet at the top of the page. This is called position "0" since it is higher and better than #1 as it is featured in a box above the search results.

I have had many "featured snippets" (as they are called on Google) on all the major search engines and it really keeps the flow of traffic to my sites even when I am not active. This is very reasurring! The training at WA works. If you are new or struggling, take heart. It really works.

Make sure you follow good SEO practices like using headings, finding good keywords, filling out the description, using good images and compressing them, adding an image description and Alt text. Basically, do all those steps that are taught here if you want a post to rank well.

Snippets are usually taken from the top ranking search results so this post was probably already in the top 10 when it became a snippet. I don't know how long it has been there however. I just started seeing traffic to this post on a regular basis in the last few days so I am guessing not long.

Ironically, I JUST posted here saying I had nothing interesting to report.

Onwards and Upwards!

Jessica

Thanks!

Hahaha, that is the beauty of WA!

Yes!

Good stuff! It always excites me when I see my article getting that snippet feature, so I know the feeling. Congrats, Jessica!

Yes. Thank you!

Jessica, Now that you solved cats chewing on things, how about a Shih TZU puppy that would rather chew on ME than her toys. My finger and toes are worn out. :))

That sounds like typical puppy behavior to me!

Congrats! That's awesome.

Thank you!

Great post and information!

Thank you!

Great news! congratulations
Sandy

Thanks Sandy!

Oh, good...Do you submit your posts directly to Bing, or do they just pick them up through your keywords?

I used to submit them to Bing but it doesn't seem to make a huge difference. I always submit to Google however. Once Google has them everyone else seems to fall in line.

Okay, I am just using Google webmasters, but I notice in his webinar, Jay suggested using Bing webmasters as well.

I don't know if I should still be doing it. It certainly can't hurt to do both.
