Who Is Seeing Your Content?
Welcome to Step 4 of my “Creating a Content Strategy” series. These six steps will help you grow your business, and to do that, you need to focus on a strategy.
If you’ve missed the first 3 steps, the links are below…
Okay, then let's get started…
Step Four: Promote Your Content
Once you've created valuable content, don’t just publish it on your website. Get creative with it and post it elsewhere to get more eyeballs on it.
The more people who see your content the better.
Let’s look at 9 other ways you can promote your content:
1. On social media - whether on your account or groups in your niche, this can drive much traffic to your website and/or offers. Just remember to have been active in these groups before posting any links.
2. To your email list - this is why having an email list is vital to your business. Your list is made up of people who are interested in what you have to say, so sharing new content to your list can be very profitable.
3. In online communities - sites like Quora, Reddit, or any specific niche forum, you can suggest your content as a solution to their questions or pain points. Again, be sure to have been active for a while before posting links. Otherwise it could be considered "spam". Adding links to your profile page is safe to do.
4. Repurpose to a video - create a video with your content, or create “shorts” by breaking up the content into subtopics. You can upload these to Youtube for free.
5. Repurpose to a podcast - this is another great way to reuse older content. Podcasts are popular, and a very effective way to use your "calls to action".
6. With niche influencers - if you’ve been active in a particular group, reach out to the influencer who started it. Ask for a “shout out” to your content to drive loads of traffic! Here again, if you've been active, the group facilitator will recognize your name and be more willing to help you.
7. Ask to include your content - if you Google your keyword plus terms such as:
- Roundups
- Best Of
- Top 10
- Weekly
- Monthly
You may find persons who deliver an email to their, or post on their sites, a list links to their audience to help with that specific problem. Ask them if your content could be added to the next “roundup”.
8. Guest blogging - ask to be a guest blogger on another site, and then refer to your content for additional resources.
9. Use paid advertising - this can be very effective if you’re promoting a specific product or offer. There’s a huge learning curve here, and requires an advertising budget as well as a lot of split testing and analysis. I recommend this for more experienced marketers only!
These are the more obvious ways to promote your content, and I’m sure if you’re creative, you could find many more.
If you’re a beginner, stick to your website for now, until you’ve gotten a significant amount of content there. That’s the only way to start ranking and seeing traffic come to your site.
Remember - stick to one method and one traffic source until you see positive results!
There’s really no use in you using up your time in other areas, if you have no traffic yet…lol.
Once you’re seeing traffic (and hopefully sales), try using these other methods of promotion to increase your conversions.
I hope these ideas will prompt you to take action, so that your goals may be reached sooner!
Next up is step 5 of your content strategy series…
Until next time,
Suzanne
