Today September marks 35 years since Hurricane Gilbert hit Jamaica. It made landfall at approximately 1:00 pm as a category four hurricane. It is said to be the most intense tropical cyclone on record to hit Jamaica. There were 45 deaths and an estimated over $700 million in damages. That was my first and worst experience in a hurricane.
