Coronavirus: Grain Alcohol Hand Sanitizer?

Are you feeling the impact of the Coronavirus?

Festivals, sporting events and conferences are being canceled. The event industry is taking a beating. Companies are going to start laying off employees due to the mass amount of cancellations.

Many other events have been canceled. Schools are closing for at least a day or two to either disinfect or to come up with a plan to deal with the epidemic.

Disinfectants and Hand Sanitizer

There isn't a disinfectant wipe to be found in my local grocery stores. Anti-bacteria soap and hand sanitizer are flying off the shelves.

A local creative business owner came up with his own hand sanitzier for those that can't find any in the stores. Just another use for Grain Alcohol. LOL!

You can watch the video here.

COVID-19

Rob, boomergp08, wrote an interesting post on why COVID-19 shouldn't scare you. Rob does a great job explaining what the virus is and what you can do to help protect yourself from illness.

Are You Taking Any Precautions?

Are you doing anything different from what you would normally do? Some people are avoiding large crowds. There are many people that won't shake hands. They are either doing the fist bump or bumping elbows.

Let me know if the Coronavirus is having an impact on you. If you are taking precautions, what are they.

Thanks!

My guy and I quasi-self quarantined ourselves. We are both in the "elderly" category of people who are at risk, even though we don't consider ourselves "elderly"! He has been sick for about 4 months with thyroid issues, so we are concerned about his immune system's capacity to fight the virus. I am healthy. We are keeping to ourselves, not socializing with our neighbors, and staying home as much as possible.

When we have to go out for necessities, we avoid close proximity to people as much as possible, wear gloves and when in crowded areas, masks.

Although we have heard the pundits saying that the virus particles can get through the masks, we use them anyway, just in case. If nothing else, it makes us FEEL safer, and that, to me, is nearly as important. We purchased ours earlier, before people started panicking and buying up everything in sight.

We have cleaning supplies on hand all the time, but made sure we have enough Chlorox on hand. Keeping the bathroom and kitchen
And of course, we wash our hands frequently and have bought the ingredients for making our own hand sanitizer.

Thanks for sharing, Carol!

My pleasure. Stay safe, my friend.

Quarantine day 1:
Sent home for fake coffee fever last night, all caffiened out with no one to fingerstick...it was a blessing to spend time with the kids but if i even thought i had a deadly virus? I probably would not have gone home but maybe fishing or something like a hot tub vacation.
Imaginine new campaigns to implement in the next couple of weeks for affiliate programs and hoping for mercy on the whole corona ordeal. I think the Everclear is an innovative approach.
I am taking precautions of limiting work out of the home and hand washing like a machine as well as hydrating hands. The impact on me is like a deer in the headlights at the moment. I should have thought to wait on chugging latte and now wondering what to do about the outcome of that.

Hey Becca.... I don't know if I would have gone him to share the wealth of that crazy germ if I had a houseful of peeps.

Glad to hear you are taking precautions. I think we could put a dent in this thing if people would just Wash Their Hands. Crazy that people have to be told this! LOL!

There many people who are unaware of a pandemic like Covid-19. What I mean by this is that they don't know how to take care of themselves. If you can do these two simple tasks by washing your hands and not touching your face when outside then you will not catch anything. These are the two most import steps to take, yet I find it hard to accept that people are so ignorant to do them. The best solution before anything is to always protect your self from viruses by strengthening your immune system. If you read up about it, you'll find that Covid-19 attacks people with weak immune system. Not to brag, but I may not know what it feels like to have the flu of any kind, due to how I go about strengthening my immune system. I also never had the flu shot. I eat healthy and exercise. One of my powerful protection is herbs. I always rely on them. If they didn't work then I would not be here yapping about it. Stay safe people and always be aware of what you are doing at the moment when outside.

Thanks, John!

Stay safe out there! :)

yes, John, I think there will be a lot of good come out of this. I have been writing and writing about educating ourselves for a very long time.
Maybe know people will get on the banwagon lets hope!

Rob and a few others have been giving great advice about keeping your immune system strong. I workout and eat healthy almost daily, so I'm not really worried.

But I have postponed a couple of domestic flights I had planned in the spring, primarily because of crowded airports, going through the crowded security line, and sitting in the wrong seat on a crowded plane (unless I'm guaranteed to get that empty seat in the exit aisle all to myself)

Thanks for the video on the grain alcohol 👍

Isaiah 😊

Thanks for you input, Rob!

I'm traveling in May. I'm not too concerned about it yet.
It might be worth the couple extra bucks to buy that exit aisle seat. :)

I find it a little disturbing that people are washing their hands now --- they weren't before?!?!?!? Also, I'm STILL a little confused by the toilet paper thing though! Other than that, I totally agree with Robert's blog. Don't PANIC. Eat right, get rest, keep your hands clean but away from your face.

OMG! You are so right about hand washing! That skeeves me out a bit. Why would you have to tell someone to wash their hands!

LOL. I know right?

You'd be surprised how many people subconsciously shake hands, doors, use restrooms and actually eat without giving it a second thought. Or the number of coworkers who show up at the office with the sniffles and refuse to stay home. I'm a germaphobe - so my radar is always up.

Even before the coronavirus started, I'd literally grab paper towels to hold the gas nozzle when pumping gas at the gas station. Call me crazy - but how many people are aware of the germs on that nozzle? 🤔

I think the "toilet paper thing" might have to do with people getting the flu and having diarrhea. It makes sense. But I could be wrong.

Yes!! It is really scary to go into a public bathroom (or here at my job) and see how many people don't wash their hands! Or they just dip them in the water, don't even use any soap and go.

Yes, there is too much use of antibacterial soaps for a variety of health and environmental reasons but regular soap is a GREAT thing that people really need to learn to use!!!!!!!!!

I'm not in the germaphobe class, yet. But, I'm very conscious of what I touch after I was my hands. I'll use the paper towel that I dried my hands with to open the door and/or turn out the light when in a public restroom. Or I'll pull my sleeve over my hand.

As far as using paper towels for the gas nozzle, I never thought of that but you're right! Fortunately I'm a Jersey girl and don't have to pump my own gas. One of the few (very few), perks of living in the state! LOL!

It makes sense but I don't know if people think that far ahead. LOL!

I think it more of a panic thing instilled by all the media hype. Sort of liking buying milk and bread when the media says there's a snow storm coming and the storm results in an inch or less of snow.

I'm with you. I'm not a total germaphobe either but I do as you do in public restrooms. I hate when they only have those blow dryers and it's summer.

I might have to think about the paper towel for the gas nozzle too now.
