Have Visions?

I’ve been thinking about writing this post for a while and now Catherine (katkatskitchen) has broken the ice with her training:

You’ll now have a greater understanding of what it means to have a vision board.

A vision board is just a tool used to help you clarify and maintain focus on a specific life goal. It’s fine to say I want to be rich for example, but what exactly does that mean to YOU? Will you feel rich if you have a million dollars or will it take ten million? Only YOU can answer that question. When you’re deciding what your goals are, you need to have something specific in mind…..something that when you get it/feel it, you’ll know that you’ve been successful in your achievement.

You’ll need to remain focused to achieve your goal. The vision board, when placed in a prominent place, will be a constant reminder of where you intend to be in a pre determined amount of time and help you maintain that focus.

Before you start, think about:

- what will really make you happy – is it a particular car, house, relationship, money, job etc

- what makes your life meaningful

- if you were told you had one month to live, what would you like to do or accomplish

Again, get specific.

Ok, now what?

-Start collecting images from magazines, newspapers, the internet

- Collect inspirational quotes or words

- Gather photographs or drawings or anything else that aligns with your goals

Once you’ve gathered some material (you can keep adding as you go along), you have options. You can use a notebook, a bulletin board, tape everything to a big piece of poster board or even make it electronic and use it as a screensaver. It doesn’t matter as long as you see it all the time. Your objective here is to have a constant visual reminder of exactly what you’re hoping to achieve. Make a point of really looking at the images and thinking about them frequently.

There is no right or wrong way to do one of these. You can’t mess it up. It’s you’re own creation. Personally, I use a bulletin board because then I can rearrange as I gather additional things that inspire me. Most of you know that I love color so I like to put colorful quotes on mine. I also like to reevaluate and sometimes refresh with each new year. Feel the inspiration from your board, see yourself already having achieved your goals, internalize those feelings, believe that you are worthy of these goals and be grateful for what you currently have.

So, does it work? Based on my past experience, YES. One of the big ones:

I decided I was bored with Accounting AND I also needed more money as a single parent. A job came open as a paralegal which I knew NOTHING about. I decided I wanted it, I imagined myself in the position and proudly telling my family about my new job and my salary increase. Against all odds, out of 100 applicants, I was chosen AND they sent me to school. I kept following the money so ended up back in Finance but Luck? Maybe but I don’t think so. Just think, this was all before “The Secret” came out and creative visualization was popular.

I can give you other examples regarding houses but you get the idea. You can disregard this as nonsense all you want but remember everything is energy and every little thing you do sends a ripple through the universe.

Now having said all this, really think about what you want and be careful what you wish for.

Thank you Debbi for sharing!!!

You're welcome, Sylvia.

Great read. Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome, Larry.

Thanks for the 'like' Sui - I 'like' you!

That Brilliant Sui and so true – Use pictures
"Tell me and I will forget, show me and I will remember, involve me and I will understand". Confucius

EXACTLY. I've a visual person.

Great post of inspiration Debbi!

Thanks, Christa

You are very welcome!

Vision Boards are great ... I have one. I need to update it as almost all of my previous "visions" have been achieved! M

Yay! That's great! We'll have to pick out those little tats now. LOL.

I've heard of a vision board before and I think I'm at the point where I want to make one. Thanks for the "vision". I am getting to work on this. :)

It's great for visual people like myself. I've used it mostly with jobs and houses. I've learned to be very careful about what I wish for. :-)

I use my door to my office... big dreams... lol... there's also mindmovies.com. Consistency in practicing the game is most important... it should be light and fun. I forget to have fun sometimes and resistance loves "serious". "Every day, in every way, I am doing better, and better." Emile Coue

You can use ANYTHING. I always have to have light and fun or to me, joy and humor. Thanks for your input. :-) ~Debbi

Great post, Debbie. I am thinking it may have produced an aha moment for me? I feel like I could walk someone through the steps to achieving optimum health in my sleep. Web sites and finances...another story. My aha moment? No matter what field we are talking about, to become an expert requires that we get some basic fundamentals and set some goals and attain knowledge. All my life I have set goals and had the excitement of reaching them. They just never had anything to do with money. So applying the same logic to your field and following the same steps should produce similar results!? I like the idea of the vision board for starters and for something concrete. By the way, if someone assured me I had one month to live, I would probably feel relief. Have a good night and thanks for the good post.
Harold

Relief is good... it's what most would feel when thinking "debt free", we just dont always know how to hold that thought, feeling and belief long enough to activate it. No need to wait to die. It can make you rich now.

WHOA........................let's start with your next to last sentence...you'd feel relief?!?!!?!? Why would you say such a thing? You were put here for a reason and I don't think you're done with that reason. We still need your insight. I'm heading to bed but I think you need to start by filling your glass up to half full. You have a lot to offer the community. Websites and finance are nothing to learn compared to the human body and becoming a dr. I couldn't do that. I don't even like blood and not sure I could identify all the organs! We each have skills as it should be. It takes all of us working together to make things work properly So, fill that glass with alkaline water and let me know how you feel in the am. I'm off to bed. ~Debbi

Harold you are so dear to so many of us here and you have so much knowledge that so many people need today more then ever! God doesn't need you in Heaven where everybody is well and healthy, He and we need you teaching us here as we fight the enemy who is constantly trying to steal our health! God's Blessings, Christa

Thanks for your support here, Christa.

My pleasure! :)

Thank you Christa for always caring about us all. Please see my note above to Debbie. I am not planning to go any where except to another lesson or video to watch for the umpteenth time!
Harold

Oh Harold I know that place all to well! Sometimes I feel like such a snail. & I think you would be surprised at how many times in life I have wished I could just go home.

Great point! Good to hear from you again.
Harold

It is so good to see you in the community again as well dear one! :)
Christa

Hey, that time will come soon enough! In the meantime we can try to make this a better place for those we leave here. Best to you Christa.
Harold

I agree! :) God's Blessings to you Harold, Christa

Awesome post Debbi, I'm gonna start a vision board and I also believe in the power of visualization. My dad tries to teach me how to use this gift, I'm getting there. He says the more vivid you visualize things, the closer you will get to your dreams. He was a martial artist so he's deep into meditation and visualization, I guess they're basically the same thing. Thanks Debbi:)

You're parents sound awesome. Yes, players have used this technique for a long time especially those in martial arts. It works. Pay attention to him although I know you do. :-) ~Debbi

I try my best to Debbi lol:)
