Hey Stefanie,
Google searching your question, I found soooo many great tutorials, video trainings, etc., thought I should let you know. Think you will be impressed with all of the choices you will have.
Hope you find this helpful.
Hi Stefanie
I don't know about building an app.
I find that having and using a Google calendar helpful because it has a search feature on it.
Best wishes,
Delroy
i've not gone through hte whole process but there is a way to change a google doc into an app
https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/no-code-development/turn-google-sheet-data-into-a-no-code-web-app-with-appsheet
worth a review
if you do go the pro route and get a designer ...specify what you want first...
do some sketches and get them to wireframe...
it is all about the specification...
good luck
phil
Hi Phil,
Wow, this is great info! However, I just don't see how a Google doc can withhold all the information I need in an app. Such as a database for recipes and the ability to filter out specific ingredients and generate shopping lists etc.
I think I may need to pay someone to do it. And, yes, I will definitely decide exactly how I want it first :-)
you would be creating spread sheets with the information on in certain areas and this links to your app ...so you can add to it for the future...
as far as i could see....
filtering is a similar process as with spread sheets and applicable to the app...
it may not be comprehensive enough for what you want ...but worth bearing in mind even if you get a designer to create one as i am sure it would be good to be able to update it...in an easy to use interface...

Hey Stefanie,
Hoping that you mean the site that is on your profile, as I had to discover the theme you are using in order to be able to advise you best.
If it is, then you are using the GeneratePress theme... see screen print below... to discover how you can find tutorials on adding a banner to the top of your website.
Hope you find this helpful.
Thank you so much. This is really helpful. I am using Generate Press theme yes.
Thanks again! :-)
there are top bar plugins
or if you want to use ad inserter it can add the topbar...but will not be closable...but if you make it thin do you need to with a link to another page for more info...
with ad inserter you can select which platforms to show it on so you can have a different one for mobile to desktop...

Hey Phil, how are you?
It's been a long time. I hope you're well and you website is dong ok?
Thanks for the information hun :-)
has been a while...
site doing ok...
starting to get back into it at the moment....
hope you are doing ok....
Oof. It's easier to do this with a theme that caters to your request. However, sliders would be of help too if that makes it easier. Also, you can utilize an email list or newsletter signup so you can get emails too for future marketing. From what you want, I think popups are your best tool.
Thanks Imbella, I need this banner to sell my meal plans as I already have email sign up pop ups. Thanks for the info about the sliders. I will look into it.
Thanks for your help :-)

Hi guys,
I have a website based around recipes mostly. Nearly all of my traffic comes from Facebook as I have lots of groups and quite a large following. We have just set up
Hi there,
Google is not going to penalise posts for low word count if your posts are 500+ words.
However, here's the thing: if you 'noindex' your posts (and exclude them in your sitemap) you won't get *any* search traffic to them.
If you don't 'noindex' them you will get search traffic to them, even if Google reduced their position in the SERPS because of low word count (which they won't).
It's quality of content that matters most, not the word count.
Thank YOU Martin for bringing the conversation back to Stefanie's question. You are SO right!
Sorry Stefanie for not paying closer attention to what you had asked in the first place.
It's ok, thank you. I am very grateful for your answer about the plugin below.
Thanks again. You are so helpful :-)
I just added this tag to <head> section of my page's HTML on one of the pages that I don't want to be indexed in Google: <meta name="robots" content="noindex">
Hi Andrea,
Thanks, this is great information. Is this different from just ticking the 'no index' box at the bottom of the post? Thanks
Hey Andrea and Stefanie,
If you use an SEO plugin, you can simply add a checkmark to a post you do not want indexed... but you ALSO have to add that post to your sitemap EXCLUDE textbox so Google won't cry foul on your Google Analytics. How to Fix Coverage Issues in Google Analytics Here's the new AIOSEO plugin documentation: https://aioseo.com/docs/noindex-settings/
Just another question. I'd rather not add a plugin as people are always saying not to add too many plugins. Can I not click the 'no index' box at the end of every post. That's just as easy as using a plugin right?
Thanks
Hey Stefanie,
You truly WANT your recipes indexed, so... not sure why you'd want them set as NOINDEX.
My comment was directed to Andrea, as adding ANY code to the header of a WordPress theme's header will only have it disappear then next time that theme is updated.
Martin (aka Abledragon) responded to you perfectly.
If you're worried about your recipe being too few of words, you could add, let's say, two or three paragraphs BEFORE your recipe, talking about how you came to using this recipe, when you like to make it, etc.
You know, though speaking to your best friend...
Are you NOT using a SEO plugin at all?

Hi,
I have a bit of an in-depth question that I can't figure out how to do.
I have a lot of recipes on my blog that I would like to duplicate for someone who is goin
I don't know if I understand you well.
I've not been here long, am still a new some how.
I have been duplicating my contents for my friend and all he does is use an SEO rewriter he downloaded on play store to rewrite it, improve it a little before publishing on his own website.
Yet I suggest you question the site support.
Is your website niche about cooking and baking
If it is why wouldn't you want your recipes to display. Are they family recipes to be kept private.
If you don't what to them to be seen why post them on your website. I am not sure of your intentions.
You could make your recipes private and require password for accessing. On the post editor screen, you will see the Visibility option under the publish meta box. Click on the Edit link next to visibility. There you will see the options to make a post Private or add a password protection to the post. Choose the appropriate radio button to make a post private or password protected.
People are always looking for good recipes and they are a good way to grow website traffic if you niche is cooking and/or baking...
Hi there,
I really appreciate your detailed response, but unfortunately you have got the wrong end of the stick about what I'm trying to do. Maybe this is my fault for not explaining well enough.
I already have these recipes Public on my blog, which is fine. But. my issue is, I want to duplicate them onto a fresh URL and change the links on them so I can let an affiliate use them on his social media. The links within the recipe posts are to a product I sell, so he needs his own posts to use to get the commission.
Hope this makes sense?
Thanks
Hi Stefanie,
I think the first question that comes to mind is why do you NOT want them to show up on your blog roll?
There is nothing wrong with having duplicated content across two urls, both of which are indexed.
If you want to show that one version is "more important" than the other, you can do this with a canonical link.
So, in effect, the recipes are placed on the affiliate's blog, and they add their own affiliate links.
You still have the original recipes on your own blog, but when you link to the affiliate's recipes you attribute "canonical" to the affiliate blog.
So, you go to each link on your blog, click "edit as HTML" and where you have the "rel" status you can change this to show
"rel - noopener noreferrer canonical"
This way the affiliate's recipes open in a new window for those visiting your site (I'm guessing that prior to noindexing you were receving traffic to the recipes), your referrer status is "hidden" and the "canonical" means you are telling the search engines that the recipe you are linking to is the most representative version of this url (recipe), i.e. This is The Master Copy and the url that should be ranked higher.
Hope that makes sense, but I'm also interested to know what your eventual aim is.
Are you going to keep your blog running with the recipes available for the search engines or did you have something else in mind?
I'm intrigued.
Partha
