Can you change your Brand ?

Yes. branding do change. We don't need to be stuck with the same brand for the rest of our lives.

Gary V was in the wine industry. But today, wine is not he is famous for.

Apple was a computer company, but it is not described in that manner today. Today, Apple is more than just a computer company.

Amazon started out as an online bookstore. But the Amazon of today is more than a bookstore.

As you grow, the audience grows with you.
Look at Tim Ferris of the 4 hour Book.

Tim Ferris is famous for his book 'The 4-Hour Workweek'. He wrote books on different subjects (eg 'The 4-Hour Chef', 'The 4-Hour Body'). He did not specialize in a specific niche.

You may feel that you are building a brand, but it does not mean you cannot change course and try new things.

Branding is not your logo, not the theme or color of your website. Branding is not your content, your product or service.

Branding is simply your reputation and your authority.
Big companies spending lots of money to build awareness but awareness is not equal to trust. If you build trust with your fans, you'll win.

What people connect with you is your style and your personality.

For eg. Apple sells us the ipad, ipod, iphone. It is not the things that we are buying from Apple, but our confidence in them. Apple is a brand because of what they make people feel.
If you like so-and-so, you will buy whatever books he sell not because of what the books are about, but about the confidence in him and wanting to know what he thinks.

Starbuck is not just a coffeeshop, or a shop that sells good coffee. To me, Starbuck is a brand for its ambiance, the convenience of wifi and power points. The staff is not going to chase you out or ask you to order more. Starbuck is the place to go to for meetup and hangout.

Branding is actually the same as Law book, so many rules and do and don'ts to watch out for.
Have a great Day

Great insights, thanks! People buy from people they trust, so your direction to build trust is quite correct! Best wishes for your success!

Branding is just logo or something connected to you that when the public sees it they think of your company---yellow arches think of McDonald's---Big Boy Shoney's

You are so right, marketing is very good at putting this connection with brands into our brain.

Good afternoon Sylvia,

Nice article. Last year I was on a 3 week holiday in the US.
There I got to know Starbuck and as you find them everywhere I had a coffee every day, a small one. Still, I put on weight.
Now suddenly Starbuck also appears in the south of Spain, but I will stay away from them. Have a nice weekend.

You are so right, I lived in Vietnam before and when 5 years ago Starbucks open there was no space any table and no cm available to stand or sit on. It was packed ..... People don't realise what they actually put into the Drinks.
Thanks for sharing, have a great Day

Richard Charles Nicholas Branson
At the age of sixteen his first business venture was a magazine called Student. In 1970, he set up a mail-order record business. In 1972, he opened a chain of record stores, Virgin Records, later known as Virgin Megastores. Branson's Virgin brand grew rapidly during the 1980s, as he set up Virgin Atlantic airline and expanded the Virgin Records music label.

You are so right, he is great and he is one of the Entrepreneurs I do admire.
He is great and in my opinion moved mountains from impossible to possible.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great Day
cheers Sylvia
