Is my "About Me" too personal to the point that it might put some people off?

Hi, it took me like two days of writing and re-writing and editing but I finally finished my About Me page. I talk about how I first went to college to be a preschool teacher, but then became a party girl, then met the father of my child as we were both getting discharged from jail ( but its relevant to my story of how I morphed into a good mother and that is why any mother should trust my judgement? I guess?) Then I go on to talk about how I got pregnant then I had to straighten up, etc... I FEEL like its a good About Me, but my MOM says its too personal, says too much, she says I should cut out of that "ghetto backstory" and just keep the parts that say

1) The paragraph that begings with "I LOVE BEING A MOM...

2) The part that says "The Problem"

3) and the GOAL of my website...

My Mom says that the beginning of my About Me is sincere & truthful but that "Normal Moms" who never dabbled in that kind of lifestyle might be put off by your candidness

anyway, would you mind checking it out on my site? My Niche is Helping Your Baby Sleep.

www,goodnightmybaby.com

I also want to figure out how to maybe change my template around and get rid of that picture of the books in my background and replace it with a sleeping baby, but I will learn how to do that later as the lessons go along right?

The link took me too a different page not and about me page but I found it in the end; Also where is your website as this is totally confusing - no menus or is it all work in progress
The about me page is too long and too detailed and also no pic of you ate the top

Paul

I love your frankness! This is what I need to hear. Some open and sincere criticism. Yes its totally a work in progress. I am currently learning how to create menus in my website. But I'm glad you told me my About Me is too long, that is what I was afraid of but wasn't sure myself... so I appreciate your input, and now I can edit it so that its not so long and redundant.... THANK YOU!

And add pic of YOU at the top OK

Paul

Ok! Thank you !

Love your about me page....beautiful story

My personal opinion is that you are very honest about your journey and I'm a very strong believer that in the long run, this will pay off. Maybe will even help other moms....
myself personally for what it is worth, would not change anything, it made you who you are now, it shows your progress, your growing process and it is awesome you should be proud of yourself, will follow your progress with pleasure and wish you all the best
have an awesome week

Hope

wow, it's an amazing story...there is probably no right or wrong answer on this, you are going to reach an audience with this, you don't have to try to please everyone

the only things I consider are - is there anything on there you feel is too personal, anything you are afraid others may know or use against you, because if you are happy for everyone to know this then great

some people are shy about their past and others are not, the transformation is amazing, that may reach a lot of people...

But you've got to listen to your intuition most of all, and people change their about me pages all the time as they go along anyway

Yeah it is an amazing story but now that I look at it. I think that sort of story should have been reserved for like, a blog post where I talk about "my story" and if someone wants to know all the nitty gritty they can read it. Hm... is there a way that I can save that About Me somewhere else? Like in a "draft folder" in case I want to use it later? I want to keep a shortened version of my About Me?To a more tasteful amount of personal info lol ?

sure, you can save stuff in SiteContent, you can access that through the bright blue SiteRubix button on the left and scroll down the menu or you can save it as a draft on your website

well that is a good idea, win win , for those who want more info and for those who may think it is tmi ! :)

What @MozMary said is spot on. Kept me from having to type it.
