Are you frustrated that you have not gotten the results that you wanted? Are you questioning yourself? Are you struggling to write and publish content regularly? Do you feel like your honeymoon stage with WA has come to an end?

If so, please know that these types of feelings are completely normal. It happens to all of us. It is not a matter of it. It is a matter of when.

In fact, I am just coming out of a "funk" myself. My funk was so bad that listening to uplifting music, watching inspiring movies and videos, and attempting to help other people was not helping. It was a yucky situation. As result, I was really questioning whether I was wasting my time working on my websites.

Yet this morning, I finally broke through the funk. I feel like a little chick that just hatched. For a couple weeks, I was struggling to get out of my egg. Today I succeeded. I am free. It feels great.

As result, I feel compelled to share 8 tips to help get tougher now that the going has gotten tough.

As Littlemama, Grace, said in one of her awesome training videos said, "When the going gets tough, you must get tougher. "

How do you do that? How do you get tough?

Sometimes, you do need to:

Give yourself permission to relax and rest a couple of days.

A couple of days is the keyword here. A couple week vacation is ok. Two days off is alright. Even people that have JOBS get time off work. When you are working for yourself, you need to give yourself time off. Just don't get into a habit of being always "off" or on "vacation."

Realize, you can't change a single thing the past.

So, don't beat yourself up mentally. Set new goals and make plans to do better.

If you mind keeps gravitating to what you did not get done; force yourself to find something positive in what you did get done.

If you look hard enough, there is always a positive aspect to any situation. For example, I have not published nearly as many posts as I wanted to this month. This month is almost over. When it comes to business, I am an extremely analytical person. Unfortunately, as an affiliate marketer, I don't get directly paid for my analysis and research. So on the negative side - I got a case of paralysis by analysis. Yet, when I look at the positive side - I have researched the "activities" of almost a dozen of the most success successful affiliate marketers working today. I probably could write a mini-biography on most of them.

Remember, it only takes a small step or a small change to get moving again.

Getting moving is the hardest part.

Now that I have finally pulled myself off of the ground, I am making a few, small yet powerful changes to my website using information that I learned over the last month. I know these changes will be beneficial because not only are they things that Kyle teaches us in the training; they have been implemented by other extremely successful people. As the saying goes, successful people leave clues as to what they have done that made them successful.

Look at your diet and see if you need to make some "adjustments."

I come from a certified public accountant/real estate broker background. I am not a nutritionist. So, I still find myself amazed when I stop and take the time to consider my diet. A well-meaning friend that was concerned that I have been working too hard purchased me a couple bottles of wine, a 24 pack of Dr. Pepper, several bottles of flavored creamers, and a couple packages of chocolate candy. Not wanting them to go to waste, I consumed all of it over 2 week period. This morning, I look back and realize that could have contributed to my extremely unproductive two weeks..... Three days back to my normal diet, without all of the excess sugar seems to have helped my mood and energy level.

Take a serious look at your diet. Could it be impacting your energy levels and productivity? If you are not sure, there are a lot of WA members who are very passionate about nutrition and diet. If you ask a question, I am confident that you will recieve LOTs of answers.

Is your work space hurting your productivity?

    • Are you hunching over your computer? Even though I used to be very active and athletic, this winter I became a hermit. I've had people helping me with the farm animals. I must admit that I spend over 12 hours a day hunched over my desk working on the computer. People have commented that my posture has gotten horrible. Basically, I am had developed what my horseback riding instructor used to call a turkey neck. Not good. This could be a problem with the height of your computer in relation to your eyes.
    • Are your wrists hurting? Again, look into the angle's that you hands and wrist are in correlation to the keyword.
    • Your eyes? Consider the lighting, glare, and distance between your eyes and the computer screen. Maybe you need glasses or an updated prescription.
    • What about your back and/or butt? Even though I have a padded butt, it has started hurting from sitting in the chair so much. As I looked at my work environment, I realize I've been working in an "executive type of chair" These chairs are comfortable to sit in for relatively short periods of time. Yet, they are not intended for someone that spends their entire day in the chair. Consider the difference between an executive chair and a typist chair. The latter has a more supportive back and forces you to sit more forward rather than reclining back.

This week, I also moved my primary computer to a bar. If I want to sit, I can sit on a bar stool. Yet, I can also stand and work at the computer. This has actually been more comfortable than the executive chair. By working at a bar, I did not have to go out and purchase any additional office equipment.

Get out of your office now and then.

Yesterday, it was snowing AGAIN. My shop was closed. I was a pretty low point. I'm tired of snow and the cold weather. I was so frustrated that I couldn't even find the motivation to edit any of my draft posts.

So, I decided to allow myself to rest. I spent most of the day, laying on the couch with my iPad researching some of out most successful WA members and looking at their websites. I did not try to type anything.

Laying on my back, in the posture that I tend to read a book in, is not an optimal work position; it was perfect for me for yesterday. So, my nonprofessional, free advice to you is to allow yourself time to relax occasionally. Get out of your "office."

So, the point of this is to critically examine your work space. Unless you have medical issues, laying on the couch or bed, attempting to work on your website for hours at a time is probably not the most conducive thing to be doing in the long run. After all, if your wrists, eyes, back, shoulders or butt is uncomfortable or hurting, you won't be as productive as you could be otherwise. These "distractions" or annoying things could be sabotaging your overall efforts without you even realizing it.

Get up, move, get some exercise

This suggestion is based on my experience. Not this weeks activities. Not only will you feel better by getting some exercise, you will feel empowered because you actually did it.

Yet, you actually have to do it. Just thinking about it won't help.

Watching a video of people performing the exercises that you want to do won't help either. Trust me - I know this is true. I watched two hours worth of yoga videos last week. While the ocean sounds and the instructor's voice was VERY relaxing, my body is still just as tight as it was prior to the watching the videos.

Today.... I will actually start exercising again today.... I"m making the commitment here. This is even more important because I plan to start doing some YouTube videos. Exercise should bring back that healthy glow to my skin and improve my posture..... So, I'll look better in the videos. lol No more excuses...

To quote some lyrics from Survivor's song, Eye of the Tiger:

Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive.

      Stop making excuses...

Just do it. Commit to keeping your dreams alive. Commit to getting tougher. Commit to taking action. No more procrastinating. You know your why. You know what your goals are. Now is the time to just do it. Just do it. Get tough. One step at a time.

If you feel like you have gotten knocked down; Get back up.

Just do it. Refuse to give up.

Do you have any other suggestion that can help others get tough, when the going gets tough? If so, please share.

I always try and tell everyone we are a pay-it-forward community and this is proof that you want us all to succeed!

I can't say it enough -- Thank you!

Amy, you are very welcome! The challenges we face on the journey to success are very much part of the path. Yet, those of us that refuse to give up are the ones that will succeed. And, who want to succeed alone? Not me. I look forward to seeing you reach your full potential.

I hope that your week gets better and better with each passing day.

      P.S. I love you logo.

      Thank you! LOL

Great advice, thank you very much for the 8 tips!

My pleasure. I have not had the opportunity to meet you before. Welcome to WA. Thank you for commenting on my post.

Thinking about your being a personal trainer and a competitor , makes me even more motivated to get back into shape.

We got a lot of inspiring members in our WA community.

I hope that you have a great week.

Very nice meet you and thanks for welcoming me.

Please let me know if you ever have any Fitness related questions and I would be more than happy to help.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Love the tips, and getting into a funk like this is something that we all can relate to! There are days that I just have to get outside and do something physical, but with the bad winter we've had, it's been very difficult.

Yesterday I was able to go outside with my dogs and walk our whole property for the first time in months, and I couldn't believe how good I felt afterward. I actually felt more energized after that walk than I have felt lately after getting several hours of sleep!

      Janelle

      Janelle,

Your walk with the dogs sounds like it was amazing. I'm glad it left you feeling great afterwards.

It's funny how something that we might take for granted at other times of the year, is amazing after being cooped up inside over the winter.

I hope that you have a productive week! And...that you can enjoy many more walks in the near future.

Sondra, Great advice all overall!!! :) I stepped away yesterday for family time.. Birthday party for a grandson. We need certain times to refresh. I suggested to someone to go out shopping where your niche may be, and see what people are buying. Don't just see everything online. Go out and touch it look at it in person. I know it gets my mind going.
      Take care,
      Bill

      Hi Bill,

I hope that your grandson had an awesome birthday! Does he live in your area?

I'll be taking your advice about going out shopping or a review that I've been working on for almost two weeks. I want to take some pictures myself rather than relying on Amazon photographs. Due to the price point of over $1,000 each; it is impossible for me to even think about purchasing the items that I'll be discussing.

I hope that you have a very productive week Bill.

Yes, he lives about 40 min away, and just recently early this year my son and gf moved back to our town to take a terrific job in his field. Yes been working on reviews and yes $1,000 is a lot but reviews can be done by research on those large items.
Thanks, Sondra you have a good one also.
      Bill

I really love your post, Sondra.
It is extremely mobilizing, so thank you for pushing me forward with courage and not to beat me.

      Ioan

      loan,

Thank you! Hopefully you will stay extremely motivated for a long time as you work on your website.

      Cheers.

So I hope I do, but first I have to make my website because I do not have it yet.

      Good motivations and rewards

Great post! Yes, sometimes we fall into those slumps... you just have to recognize it and understand that you, and only you, can do something about it. I have found that often times are the small things or adjustments that make a huge difference. And I totally agree with you that you really have to take care of yourself; it is not a quick one-time-only fix. Keeping your body and mind healthy and alert is an everyday "job", but when you find what hacks works for you, it is not so complicated or time-consuming but a habit. Wishing you a great productive week ahead!

Well said Jessica! You have reminded me that I need to improve my habits. Taking care of our body and mind is an everyday job.

After all, when it comes to our health, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I hope that you have an extremely productive week ahead.

      Thanks!

Great advice! I will begin to implement this.

      Hi Tom,

      I hope it helps some.

Best wishes for a mentally tough week that is even more productive.

It's all about taking hold of uour, attitude. Stop making excuses, no more procrastination, take some deep breaths, stretch... You said it well. Thanks.
      Linda

Thanks Linda! When it comes to our websites, our challenges can be temporary as long as we do what you just said.

However, if people don't work through the challenging times, they will never know the exact level of success they could have achieved.

I hope you have a great week.

      All great points, Sondra.
Keep the body moving and this will help the brain function.
We do yoga daily as well as other exercise and we find this helps us enormously.
Creating a comfortable work space will also increase productivity.
      And...never give up!
      C & P

Very true. Sometimes, I don't know why we allow ourselves to get out of doing the fitness related things we enjoy so much.

Based on your profiles, it sounds like the two of you stay very active. One of these days, I would like to try scuba diving at least once.

I hope you have a productive week.

      Thanks for your comment!
Scuba diving is the best! Hope you do get to try it one day.
It's easy. You don't have to get certified to try it.
Most dive shops will let you try it for free in their pool, too. The equipment is no big deal. Very user-friendly.
Let us know if you do!
      C & P

You have done a good job with this post. Now I am going out to take a little walk.

Thank you Fran! As I've mentioned before. I love your great attitude. It is helped you stay extra young - despite what a calendar might say.

      Did you enjoy your walk?

lol...got involved in these comments. However, doing 3 more and then taking that walk...I promise!
