Finding A Work Life Balance with Wealthy Affiliate
As my activity with the Wealthy Affiliate community has increased over the past few weeks, so has the number of email notifications that I receive on a daily basis. Due to all my efforts, and help within the community, my ranking within the platform has adjusted reflect that effort.
But in the past few days, I have started to notice that all my efforts within the community have started to take time away from other activities, like working on my website. This has caused me to refocus on the importance of finding a work life balance.
The traffic on my website was consistently increasing, but then within the past month, traffic has suddenly dropped like a rock. I am no longer getting clicks on my AdSense ads, and traffic to all my affiliate programs have also come to a screeching halt. I almost feel like I am being penalized by Google, but I am still not quite sure why.
Since my primary focus since returning to WA this year was to my Surviving Cancer blog, I need to refocus and take these last few months to complete the training, and work on consistently adding new content to my site each week.
Have no fear, this in no way means that I am leaving WA! Quite the opposite. I will be around a lot more, but instead of taking hours every morning to respond to all the notifications that I had received in the last 24 hours, I will instead try to do my best to limit my time on those emails so I can better focus on building my site.
This change will most likely mean that my ranking within WA will start to go back up, and while this bothers me somewhat, I need to remember that Ambassadorship within the WA platform was not part of my plans for 2018.
I will still be around, welcoming new followers, and replying to any PMs that I receive. So if you need me, please don't hesitate to reach out! Although I may not reply right away, I am still here to help!

Yes, I understand what you mean because I answer my email and then I tend to my site. So things get put on the back burner alot of times and things don't get done.
I need to work on my sites more but my rank is pretty low right now but I still want to participate in the community because I still want to be able to help with the members.

Thats what I was struggling with. I like to help and interact with everyone, but I’ve got a fair amount of followers, and get 25-50 emails every day. I just need to find a balance.
Don't feel bad I have to find the balance too. I usually get anywhere 50 to 200 emails so that is what I struggle with myself. So it seems that we are in the same boat.

Hi Jennifer, totally respect your decisions. You are an inspiration to me and have helped me on countless occasions. I wish you all the very best.
I’m not going away permanently. I will still be around for help when needed. Just need to put more focus back into my site.
Sometimes we just set ourselves up for a fall. While we like helping others we also have to think of our websites.

It’s so hard sometimes. I sometimes feel like I have a duty to respond to all the emails. But when it takes 3-4 hrs every morning, many days there’s just not enough time in the day.
It is a bit of a balancing act Jennifer. I have got to the stage where I pick and choose, (from the titles), which I will respond to and which I won't.

Hi Jennifer
I truly understand this post
I am an ambassador and I have worked so hard helping people as much as I can but have recently purchased a new domain and want to really build my business presence as much as possible and this for me means I spend more time working for my future and will most likely mean my ranking is affected as well but hey its not really that important when it comes to setting up my retirement fund.
I will still be active but with more focus like you are working on what matters to my future success and income
All the very best Jennifer and lets rock this online world
:)

I second everything you said. I spend 6-8 hours a day on reading blogs, emails, etc. Got to get back to my site!!! Personal Training peak season is Jan-March so rest of this week catching up on these 600+ notifications, then back to business.
The ranking is not important, working on your blog site is if you want to succeed. Yes, you do get lots of emails. For myself, I set up a filter to put all messages from WA into a special folder in my email. I check that folder when I have time to deal with reading and answering them.
Very important to take a step back and evaluate where you are and where you want to be. Good for you!
It wasn't an easy choice. I love being active in the community and my ranking shows that, but sadly my site has been suffering because of it. Who knows, 2019 may be different :-)

Boy, do I understand! I am having the same problem. There just isn't enough time to do it all. Will have to tighten up my schedule.
