My Facebook Group Just Hit Over 1000 Members!
Just a quick post on some of the cool things my team and I have been doing with our decluttering Facebook group. Nothing really huge or major, but a success and 'win' none-the-less.
Let’s dive in!
2 Months In and already 1000 members!
As you can see in the screenshot above, we’ve just hit 1K members within our Facebook group just yesterday!
1008 to be specific.
This is actually an old FB group that my team and I rebranded into our “Motivated To Declutter Challenge” Facebook group. We started posting more frequently in mid January (2024), with the intention of hitting over 30K members by the end of the year (more on that later).
But first, let’s take a look at a few of the stats, and how we actually achieved this!
Show Me Your Stats!
As you can see above, over the last 60 days, we’ve had over 732 new members join. We average around 10 or so organic members joining with 4 different spikes inside those 60 days.
Spike 1 and 2: These two spikes (I believe) are when we ran a single email to our 30K email list - I haven’t been pushing the list to the group as much as I should, but the first spike was just casually (like “Oh, by the way we’re revamping our FB group, join here”).
The second spike was actually where we ran an email and said “Oh, hey, we’re releasing a free one-week decluttering challenge in our FB group, Join to get access!”
Spike 3: I honestly have no clue as to why suddenly member subscriptions jumped up at that time. I’d like to say (and this is pure speculation), that FB is now ‘suggesting’ our group now organically in other people’s feeds, but I honestly have no clue.
Spike 4: We actually just released a free Decluttering and Self Care Bingo card that people can get (if they share our post), which contributed to the spike (as well as the increased members yesterday and today, which we can’t see on the stats).
Why Are You Growing Your Facebook Group If You Have A Large Email List?
I’ll be honest - for this site, I already have a 30k+ email list (close to breaking 40K soon), but back in December, I saw this group:
This was a FB group where a lady (who doesn’t have any website or marketing experience) was able to successfully grow her Facebook group to 30K members in one year's time.
Pretty crazy right?
And so, I figured, well, if she could do it, then I should be able to do this as well. Remember, she grew this entirely organically (i.e. all the people that joined were from Facebook and not from her website, an email list she owned, etc. And she’s growing at about 1K per month. WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING).
So I figured, why not try it out, diversify my pool of people I can target, and see what happens.
What I’m not doing with this Facebook Group
I read a lot of people in other groups who try to use their Facebook group to push more traffic to their site.
However, from what I’ve read, this doesn’t work as well as with other platforms.
So my goal is actually just to have it as a place to get people to have good discussions on, well, how to be and stay motivated while decluttering.
Every month, we run a freebie to the group, to get our FB group members to get on our email list (I push the people both ways, so that, in a sense, I have my subscriber base on two separate platforms in case something goes down with one of them. Diversification, anyone?)
My goal is to monetize it, in a few months from now, and run a few group posts to some brands that want me to sponsor them, or push the facebook group to some of the paid products my team and I have made in the last year.
We’ll see how it works, but that’s what I’m currently doing!
What’s In Store For The Future?
Well, according to what I’ve learned online, once you can get your FB group to around 1K members, then Facebook will start to show you organically to other Facebook group users, and that’s where you can then start to grow more organically.
Since I just hit that, I’m going to try to get more organic members (i.e. members from Facebook and not from my site or email list).
I’m also working on ways to get the members to recommend the group - so we plan to run a few more freebies (with a “share this post to get access to this freebie"), as well as possibly a few free giveaways.
I’ll update you guys in a few months on how that all turned out!
Any Of Y’all In The Decluttering Niche?
I’m actually in the process of looking around for a few people and sites (big or small) in the decluttering, organizing, and cleaning niches to collaborate with.
I’ve got a few ideas of things I’d like to try with some other brands, and so if you’re in one of those niches and want to collaborate (or know someone in that niche), shoot me a message below or PM me, and let’s start talking.
Keep pushing on guys!

I have an FB page connected to my website. I pushed it for the first six months, but I have to admit, I don't put much work into it. I checked my page yesterday because I plan to add another post and my page is now up to 3,000 subscribers. My Facebook page doesn't drive subscribers to my website, but my website drives subscribers to Facebook. I need to work with it more but it always get pushed to the back burner.

Awesome Nancy! That's pretty exciting to hear. Definitely want to publish a few posts on that page to make sure you keep their engagement up!
It takes a lot of work. First, I added a Facebook link to my website. If readers like your content, they will likely be curious and click the link.
From the beginning, I ensured I had several informational posts on my FB page. I also invited some trustworthy friends to look at my page, give me feedback, comment on it, and pass the link along on their FB feed. I spread my FB address wherever I could without spamming anyone. And finally, I did some FB post boosts. Not a lot because the cost can add up, but it is an inexpensive way to start getting your page out there.
It hasn't been easy. It takes work and dedication. You have to keep working at it. If your content is something your visitors want to read, then you will get followers. I have let my work on Facebook slide a bit, but I recently started posting again, and the activity is picking up.
I forgot to add that I joined several groups that were similar to mine. I mention my group when commenting on questions people ask. You have to be careful doing this because you want it to sound natural so you don't offend the group owner. Plus you need to read their rules before mentioning your group. Some owners don't mind but others get offended. This is why I usually post on groups similar to mind but not the same.

thats a pretty quick growth Andy! Mine is at 13;3 k now, but that's in about more than 3 years now and without 'pushing' it from emails and such and totally organic. Yet, there are a lot of competitors in my niche, with groups that have over 600k members, so it's hard to be unique and keep people's attention on FB. Great work!
Lizzy
Thanks Lizzy. Yeah, there are a few hundred thousand groups in the declutter niche too. But I always say, bring on a challenge! lol. Either that or just make enough money to buy them out one day, haha.
The same question to you (I asked Andy the same): How was the beginning, how people become motivated to subscribe when there is nobody there in a brand new group? It must be a very slow process.
In the beginning of my mini group, I was very active myself and shared a lot from other groups. When you manage to get people talking about things, the algoritm pick it up and the groups gets more active on its own.
Also, in the beginning of my blog I ended all my articles with " join my social media and especially my Facebook group" for more pictures and tutorials". ( link to your group in the word fb group)
I know usually close off with my Youtube channel though.
Many thanks again. I contacted two owners of existing groups offering to buy them, this was Andy's idea. Waiting for reply. If nothing comes, I shall start something. This all info here is very useful.
That could be a great idea as well. I have no idea how much groups are worth, could be interesting for myself as well, if I would ever sell my site or group. Surely the size of social media channels could drive up the price of the site , no?
Theres so much more these days to talk about then just SEO or affiliate marketing allone, interesting!
Yes about the site price, backed with a large FB group as in your case it must be worth far more.
I checked about prices of FB groups, you can easily find some estimates around.
I see it as a big bonus from various aspects. Brands may be willing to send items for reviews when they see a FB group, there could be exchange of items within the group organized, etc.
From my recent experience, SEO is dead, there is no logical way of approaching it. Unless Google changes something, there is no hope in it, gone.
I am still struggling with going narrow or wide with a group if I start it myself. Andy was very helpful, there are good and less good sides for both ways. Remember the story of the Buridan's donkey? Well, I am one, I mean donkey.

Andy, me again; curious about the link that you added in the header image in your group, and this is a pop-up type design. This is the best possible place to have it. How did you do it if I may ask? Perhaps this is a part of what they offer at FB, have not done it so do not know.
By the way, you are already at 1.2k, so it may accelerate now.
I'm not seeing a link in the header image - Can you either screenshot it, or shoot a video on what you mean? I'm generally confused as to what you're seeing, haha.
OK, here it is, the link yellow and when clicked it opens the box above.
Oh, that's what you meant - sorry about that. That's the group affiliation link that you can add. Basically you can have a page (I believe even a person) claim a group as their own. Screenshot below to show where it is to set it.
OK, thanks.
