When you have Great Neighbors- Try to Keep them Happy
(picture of yellow balls with smiley faces)
To my fellow Entrepreneur,
When I was a child, a small girl at the age of about 6 ,my mother Eileen Golding Bielenberg would get me cooking ππ°
We would cook sweets and I would take them to the neighbors for Easter, and Christmas.
I not only learnt cooking skills at an early age but I also learned compassion and social including my neighborhood.
It was not a paid job I did at that early age of 6 and the following years but it was a valuable lesson in social settings a child to communicate and accept all kinds of comments from her clients (neighbors).
My mother was a smart cookie!
She knew for me to break down limiting beliefs like 'It was dangerous to go out as a child out to the neighborhood offering sweets to welcome my new neighbors".
There was obviously dangerous media stories happening back then almost 44 years ago too, like there has been now in the year 2023 and probably always will be.
I did this task easily, I knocked on my neighbors doors introduced myself and asked them if they would like some sweets, in particular coconut ice and chocolate fudge my mum and I had made wrapped in gift paper and tied with a beautiful ribbon.
And I got all kinds of replies from all sorts of people!
Remember I was 6!
And talking quiet well with English.
My moral really for this post is not sending a 6 year old to the neighborhood but that we can all try and welcome our neighbors and the people that live in our same street or even next door.

Just like here in WA we welcome people to the community ποΈ
Happy days my friends.
Let me know what you think?
Kind regards
Erica

Hi Erica,
I appreciate your post very much. I too was raised to see thing similarly. I can remember as a child helping some of the neighborhood women in with their groceries as I walked or biked the neighborhood and other such things.
My parents did many things for neighbors, my mother a great cook who to this day still cooks extra cookies and such and gives some to even her mailman.
I've sadly watched a deterioration for this attitude here in the U.S, over the years, predicted even in a book called Future Shock from my youth.
A message that I hope we make a return to by many as we used to see. Thanks so much for writing this.
Regards,
Jason
Hello Jason, thanks so much for sharing your Mother's generosity and kindness, it is something special that is for sure.
I know right in today's society it is a blanket approach smothering good will and good deeds, but I still believe that this does not go undetected and it has a rippling affect in our neighborhood when someone experiences love from their neighbors,
Wishing you a wonderful night,
Kind regards
Erica
Hi Erica,
Kindness will usually be appreciated by those who are gifted it, but sadly I see many less willing to make such gestures as when I was a child.
It really does have a ripple effect in neighborhoods.
I remember reading a story years ago. A man who had become wealthy had come from an area that was considered poverty projects. He decided to do something about that, and he began working with the parents (a lot of single mothers) in his old neighborhood.
They focused on educating the children there, and if they would maintain decent grades in public school, he would pay for their higher education afterwards. The impact it had on that neighborhood and the lives of those who took advantage of his kindness will be creating ripples for a long time.
Thanks so much for the engaging post, and may your night be wonderful as well.
Regards,
Jason
Wow that is an amazing story Jason, thanks so much for sharing.
I like the idea of the children being encouraged to study and then he paid for their higher education, that is brilliant.
Wishing you a wonderful night also!
Kind regards
Erica
Well said, Erica! This is an excellent post, and though the world is in turmoil, there are still good neighbors out there, and I also concur with JD's response too!
Have a Great Day!
Jeff

I will apologize for waxing Christian/Religious because I do not want to offend anyone. But, The Second Great Law as Stated by Christ Jesus is to "Love Thy Neighbor". This does not mean just your neighbor next door. Or even within the same neighborhood, town, city, county, state, or country. It means to Love Everyone.
Something I am afraid we all fail at. But, We Must Keep Striving For.
My 2 cents.
Blessed Be
JD
Hello JD, thanks so much for sharing that belief from the Bible, and actually I know that Law from Jesus!
I do appreciate it took courage for you to voice you 2 cents, but is worth acknowledging.
Stay blessed.
Kind regards
Erica
Hello Erica, great message. It is always nice to get sweet goodies as it is being welcomed to a community.
It reminds me of the fudge my mom used to make (original Hershey's fudge). I love that stuff! She also taught us how to make it, so guess what I will do this weekend? LOL.
Chet
Hello Chet, thanks so much for sharing your experience with me here.
Yes we made chocolate fudge also, yum I love it too!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Kind regards
Erica

It always pays to be nice to ones neighbours Erica no matter how they treat us back!
I have a few good neighbours here but a lot more who are... well not!!
But I always do my best to treat everyone with the same level of respect and kindness though!
Appreciate the share my friend and enjoy the start of your weekend! :-)
Thanks so much Nick, that is wonderful to hear how you treat even the not so great neighbor with respect.
I too tend to think that way, it just feels better not to revenge with people and let bygones be bygones as they say.
Thanks it has been a positive start to the week my friend :)
Kind regards
Erica
You're most welcome my friend and I totally agree with you here! :-)
Thanks Nick :)
