Building Bridges

In this thing we call life, we have to learn to build bridges. We build bridges in relationships, education, sports, careers, and even our goals.

How does one set goals? When setting goals we first look at where we are and then we note where we want to be. One thing that often discourages people when it comes to achieving their goals is that they don't set realistic goals. For example: If I'm at A and ultimately I want to be at Z then my first goal should be around D. Once D is accomplished then I can set my new goal for G, and so on. This way I can actually see my achievements. These little milestones give us the ump to keep going.

OK, with that said, lets say my goal is D and I'm at A. How do I get to D? I build a bridge. I don't focus on D. That's my goal and I keep it in my view, but I have to look at the step in front of me. First, I'm at A. The only way to move to B is by graduating A. So, I build and work at where I'm at and this brings me to B. Etc. etc.

Now, what often happens is that people get ahead of their own-selves. They jump when they are not ready. They put up half written items, incomplete projects, and so on and so on. This causes a crash in the bridge.

It's about your foundation and infrastructure. You are only as strong as your infrastructure. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

Another example, If you are wanting to have a successful website going and your goal is to bring in thousands a day, but you have not went through the training properly then it's not going to happen. I have people ask me all the time if there is a way to do this without the wasted time of training. First, training is not wasted time. Training is your infrastructure. Do you give a new born baby a steak and potato when they are born? No, you start them off on formula. Your training is your formula that builds you. It's the beginning boards of your bridge.

In closing, re-evaluate things and instead of trying to cut corners, reinforce your infrastructure. Success is here, but it doesn't come from unrealistic goals and a slumber attitude. Your success is based off your blood, sweat, and tears.

How bad do you want it? It's time to build bridges and do this thing right. You are the carpenter of your own success.

(I do hope this made sense. I was trying to give the short version of this teaching. Take what nuggets help you and go with it. God bless.)

Wow, has someone really said the training was wasting time? That seems pretty short-sighted (ironically).

The sad thing, is that so many have this attitude concerning life. Each day is training. I'm 42 and I had 42 years of training to be 42. Not a day was wasted because it got me here. Yes, I made mistakes and took so much for granted, but even then time wasn't wasted. How many kids thought school was wasted time and they were ready to be in the real world? I find nothing in WA wasted. Oh my goodness from the training to the community is nothing but pearls. Priceless.

Well put! I fully believe that if you do the training in order and complete each task before moving on to the next lesson, then you are going to be successful! Thanks for taking the time to teach others!

Have a great weekend!

You are so right. Thanks for replying.

You're welcome!

Very well said. Many people forget just how long they spent at their jobs before they were "good" at it. You can't skip the learning here and be a success. Thanks for the post.

Absolutely. Thanks for your reply.

I love this! Well said!! ;)

Thank you.

Ok, thank you. A for me was the first ten lessons in course one. I finished that, now I am at B... Starting the second course. I look forward to learning each day. Have a good weekend.

That's a great way to set the goals. You are seeing yourself achieve them and that is awesome. Keep up the great work.

How right you are Shane survival of a country from an invading army depends on the weakest bridge in the infrastructure!!

Awesome analogy. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Shane, I really like your analogy. If I want to follow you, how do I do that?

Just click on my profile and there should be a tab that says follow.

Thank you for your reply. Best wishes.

It shows that you are following me. It's great to be connected.

That was a lashing. I understand and stand behind your post.

I was not wanting it to come off as cruel, but sort of a tough love. I believe in WA and each person here. But we have to work. I hate seeing people get discouraged because they are not making their goals. When I sit with them and discuss them then I know why they are struggling. They set their own bar to high to start. It doesn't mean we won't get to Z, but it means I've got to go through all the other steps first. I still consider myself at A. But I know WA is an amazing place to make it happen. Best wishes.

Yeah I find myself often placing too much on myself. If you are running an online business than run it. That means doing the work which includes research and brainstorming. My problem is trying to do it all at one time.

I struggle with that too. I have to write out a list (like a to-do-list), but I call it my focus list. I keep it beside me to help me stay on one thing at a time. Without it I would be chasing rabbits all day.

I'm on "A" but... with WA, I have plenty of "wood" to build with and plenty of help and support to get to "Z"

Indeed. WA makes it very possible to get to Z. I consider myself still on A as well.

What an excellent post on 'Goals' and how to achieve them!

Lots of nuggets and pearls...and I'm definitely going with it!

Following you...

Big Loe,
Bert and Sue

Thank you. Best wishes.
