I was going to say probably your theme is not very optimized for mobile. But since I saw that you're using the GeneratePress theme, I doubt that.
GeneratePress is one of the top themes available. And is used by a ton of websites.
The only thing I can suggest is to use Google's PageSpeed Insights and see the Opportunity and Diagnostics tabs to get an idea of where you can improve the speeds. Just use the tool 2 or 3 times, sometimes it doesn't show accurate data on the first go.
Also, if you have too many plugins that could slow the website as well.
I’m wondering the same because I have the same problem. My site doesn’t run any different on desktop than the mobile. What theme are you using? I use twenty seventeen
I'm using Generate Press theme, I was thinking of trying other themes possibly. I was also thinking that my images might not be compressing but that doesn't really make sense either. I don't know, these websites aren't super completed its merely words and a few images so I don't know why mobile would be bogged down.
