Keep Creating Content - For New Members Of Wealthy Affiliate
Continue to Create Content
I've been working hard with Wealthy Affiliate for the past 14 days or so. I've been a member for over a month, but really started to set aside time to build up my website and to create content. The building aspect I've been working on has only taken place over the last 7 or 8 days.
Now I'm new to Wealthy Affiliate and really to affiliate marketing in general, however I have spent a lot of time creating websites for my business and for other businesses within the family, so that aspect isn't too difficult.
I'm sure I'm not the only one here who starts looking at daily traffic the minute I launched my site, and then every single blog page after that. This is a common habit, you're excited, where is this going to go. But I do want to highlight, I know its been brought up before, but it takes time for Google and other search engines to consider you a legitimate site. I found the term the other day, Google will put new sites in "the sandbox" which means they don't really give you much traffic at all. Now you can spend upwards of 3 to 6 months in the sandbox.
The point is that don't stop creating content because you're in "the sandbox". Don't stop creating content because you don't see any traffic, and don't stop creating content and wait until you have traffic. Because while you wait you are wasting tons and tons of valuable time to create content and make your content better.
Imagine if you were to create a few blogs and wait, and create a few more and wait longer and longer for traffic, how much traffic will you have when you are out of the sandbox?
Now change the situation, you create steady content every week for 3 to 6 months, at the end of 3 to 6 months you have roughly 30 to 40 blogs, each with its own keywords, how much more traffic will you get now? Once you get out of the sandbox you want to be firing on all cylinders. You want all the hard work to pay off, and believe me it will pay off much more if you continue to write.
I bring this up because I noticed something the other day. I don't believe I've been putting in a TON of content time, but over the last week I'm apparently ranking the top 200 for content creating. Meaning there is not a LOT of content being created, or it means you're creating it outside of Wealthy Affiliate. I know rank does not really matter, but it gives you a good indication of how much effort you are putting in compared to others. So when you look at your site, and you think "man I'm not getting a lot of traffic" ask yourself, how much content am I creating, and I review it month over month to ensure its getting better.
Some things I do now, and something you might consider doing while waiting to get out of the sandbox are:
- Write content, proofread and post
- Offer Comments on other blogs, so you can receive comments on your blogs
- following week review your old content, make improvements, add pictures, links etc
- Repeat every week
write, post, review, comment, write, post, review, comment. always make your site better and better, while you are reviewing other blogs and commenting on them, you will see what others are doing, and it might give you some ideas on improving your own site.
Don't stop improving, if you do, you WILL NOT get where you want to get to.
I am writing this mostly for new people because when you don't see traffic, you will get disappointed, but don't get disappointed, this is the building phase, and it could last awhile, but if you keep at it, when google takes you out of the sandbox you will be in a really good position!
Best of luck to you!
Shawn
