An awful blunder turned into an awesome wonder

it is so awesome having a background in coding. Most people would of panicked if they did what took me 4 hours to correct. ( would of taken less had I stayed in college and finish learning this skill.) It truly was simple coding that I had to pull out of a 12 month old memory. (Google assisted me😅) I made a huge blunder that turned into an awesome wonder as I was telling a few friends here last week that I would be updating my website. Because it was not what I wanted it to look like and it needed some sprucing up.
So, I went against my sound conscious and decided to use one of the prebuilt template kits elementor offered. And those templates were nice! The problem with these template versions (called kits) is that they change your entire website and wipe clean all of your modifications. Putting you back to square one, rebuilding your site. Pictures, information, and all.
Backup Safety Net?
Never mind the tissue in the picture you didn't 👀 anything and I'm not hiding any! 😂
Anyway, did I back up my site. But of coarse, word press has back up copies of our site as well with all of the changes we make throughout its life time. Heh, heh, heh. Right? If you would of made my blunder you would be kicking yourself right now. This elementor template kit, Removed, Erased, Deleted ALL OF WORD PRESS BACKUP COPIES! I kid you not. As the picture below shows word press can only go back 5 hours, 😆 which is today! There is nothing else before today and Ive had this website for two years.
Terrible blunder…So that's two years of history gone. 😆😆😆 I had to start from scratch, luckily I have a good memory so I remembered how my site looked and what went where. I also have my site backed up to a dummy free wordpress account. So I could of gotten all of the info from the backup site and got everything corrected. But did I do it? Nah, I just got the basic information from it (articles, post, etc) and preceded to rebuild my site from the ground up. I like how it looks now. The only issue I have now is duplicity.
I got duplicate articles and comments everywhere. But it's a simple fix that doesn't require coding. 👀 now what did require coding was the comment section, and the showing of the comments. This took me back to my college days 12 months ago. With the help of Google I fix that small issue with my site and everything is a lot better 👍.
Not perfect but surely not a empty canvas…Word to the wise as we are forewarned here, please do not touch the code if you do not know what you are doing lol 😆. GET AN EXPERT, I'm just hard egg 🥚.

Yes, it was tiresome and a headache but fixed. I just have to fix the heading now. The heading is too small.

Aw, what a bummer. Im glad you got it fixed. Geez, Didn't you ask for what is called a "staging site." Do you host here in WA or hosted elsewhere? If you have another host at another site, you can always ask for a staging site. That means they (Site Support) or Host support will set up a staging site for you while you test out new WordPress designs or templates. It leaves your regular domain intact while working on a new theme. When you are satisfied with the changes, you use the move feature. Simple.
Girl, now you know what to do. Didn't anyone tell you that you can do that? "Staging Site." If you host here in WA, you can ask for that. I often do this when I want to change a theme or try out a new wordpress template like in your case. That's what I did. How did I know about that? It was because other members told us about it. Since you have been here much longer than I have, but I realized you have been in and out of WA since then. You could have done that; it would have saved all your trouble to go through this for naught. Oh well, at least you learned this. From now on, ya hear me? Use "staging site" first!
That's a shame. I wish you had asked the question before you went ahead. Anytime you think about changing anything on your site or your online business. Please do ask. We have experts here, too. We would have helped explain things to you. At least it's fixed. I hope Google doesnt penalize you for duplicate content.
That duplicate content is getting removed tomorrow. It took me so long fixing everything that i am breaking for the night. I will most definitely asked next time before i take matters into my own hands. 😂Chat to you all tomorrow!

You did a great job! Well done! Morse code is an old form of communications which is still used by Amateur Radio operators and ships of all sorts.
