Problems with site verification on Google?

I had a terrible time with this,

Wasn't able to find any training on this so I thought I would share what I discovered..

First Step

You have to go to Google Webmaster Tools where you will find Search Console. Here you can add a property. I believe you need to own the domain name to do this.

If you don't have an account you can create one for free. This is all free to do on google..

Step Two

Once you get to this page you hit the red Add Property button and a dialogue box will show up where you enter the web address of your website and hit the add button. This will take you to a page that asks you to verify your web site.

Step Three

On this page you want to go to Alternate Methods where you hit the button that says Html tag. Copy this tag.

Step Four

Head over to the admin area of you website and hit the button that says All in one SEO. from there scroll down to Web Verification here you will find a field for Google Webmaster Tools. Paste the tag you just copied in this field.

Step Five

Here's the tricky part. You have to delete a little bit of the beginning and ending of this tag. An example of the tag is this:

<meta name="google-site-verification" content="R25UTdCLizqbMJdYv47bnGR-2Dan7x11N6NqUiNEIYo" />

You only want the part between the last two quotation marks so after editing the tag would look like this:

R25UTdCLizqbMJdYv47bnGR-2Dan7x11N6NqUiNEIYo

Once you have done that hit the update button on SEO.

Step Six

Now you want to head back over to Search Console and hit the red Verify button.

All done you should get a green check mark saying your site has been verified.
