An Attitude of Gratitude
Hello all, this is part of my first blog for WA. I decided to post part of it here because it’s taking me some time to get my website set up. Challenges with understanding the technology. But I decided to go ahead and start posting here on the site. Any feedback is greatly welcome. And thanks for being part of this fabulous community!
An Attitude of Gratitude
Hello and thank you for reading.
Does it feel like the world is passing you by, leaving you in the cold?
Would you enjoy an income boost?
Many times when we are feeling like this we are feeling hopeless and are having difficulty finding a way out. This website is dedicated to helping you find a way out that is sustainable for you, your family and the planet.
When we face challenges it is helpful to have some tools to assist with changing our insides, our emotional landscape, as this can contribute to changing our perspective in a positive way and can assist our ability to take positive action.
As was written in the About Me page on this website, I worked in mental health for many years. I researched modalities that worked the best. Some of them are from inside the world of mental health and others were created by those who had spiritual awakenings and found ways to teach what they learned to others. I do not guarantee that these can work, as no such guarantees can ever be offered. And since I no longer work in mental health, I can not offer therapeutic advice. But I can share what I learned, what I’ve seen work for others and myself.
I will offer some pearls of wisdom from the world of mental health that can assist with changing thought patterns. These changes can assist us with greater ability to take positive action and clearer thought when applied. This can assist with greater ability to act.
So... let’s get started.
This suggestion comes from the world of Positive Psychology, this is one of the newer modalities where the focus is on how people develop and live to their highest potential. It’s taken a long time, but psychology is finally developing a positive focus!
The focus on gratitude has been around for millennia, it is supported by spiritual traditions, knowing grandmothers and now Positive Psychology. Positive Psychology finds that people who are grateful are more positive, energetic and optimistic than those who aren't. These qualities contribute to one’s sense of agency, the knowledge that one actions can have a positive impact on their world, that they can reach goals they set for themselves.
Here is the assignment that is shown to have long term positive impact.
Write a gratitude journal. Buy a notebook, use loose paper, start one on you smartphone or tablet. In this journal, once a week, like on Sunday morning, or any time where you can take quality time for yourself, write out what you are genuinely happy for that week.
The list can look like this:
The sun is shining today and the light is brilliant.
I found a really good quality cat food and my cats all like it.
I got the seeds to plant my garden.
I ate a really nice meal with my sister.
I talked to my step-mom, looks like she’s doing well.
My old truck is running great.
I took some time each day this week to feel the peace inside of me.
This daily record acts positively in several ways. Whatever the mind focuses on, it creates more of, the brain actually creates new neural pathways on whatever we are focusing on. When you are feeling down, you can read it and improve your state of mind. It has been shown to decrease depression and anxiety and to increase happiness, calmness and a sense of well being.
This is absolutely free, it will make your life better.
The invitation I offer is for your life to get cumulatively better each and every day!
Peace to you, in the ever present now.

Sonja, Today is Wonderful Wednesday, tomorrow will be Thriving Thursday. Followed by Fanastisc Frday, then Super Saturady. Sanctified Sunday into Marvelous Monday, then Terrific Tuesday. I practice being happy everyda, it's my state of mind. that's how I show my attitude of gratitude, I'm grateful anytime that God allows me to see the light of any day. Great Post, and God bless you!
Great first post!
I hope you can quickly overcome whatever tech issues you are having - I'm fairly new here myself (third day in!) so I'm very much in the learning phase myself, but if I can help with anything at all, I will.

Good reminders for us all to appreciate what we have! I agree. On a side note, I can relate to the cat food! My site is about cat health and behavior and I did a cat food review recently since it took us years to find the right food!
