So why would I consider giving up?

I was thinking this morning about my over 4 years here at Wealthy Affiliate. I remember being so excited at the beginning and I had such great hopes for financial success.

Alas, I've found that financial success is not easy and I have yet to reach my original goals. I keep chugging along and I wonder "why" I continue.

The Reason Why I am sticking it out!

There are several reasons why I do not want to quit and I'll share them with all of you reading this.

  1. I'm retired and still desiring to contribute to society and my family. What the heck else would I be doing with my time that has the potential to repay me in triples at some point?
  2. I have set some financial goals that are important to me and my family and I do not want to give up on them.
  3. I'm in a wheelchair and my health prevents me working even a part time regular job.
  4. In the time i've been here, I have seen many WA members make money and even manke lots of money - so I know the teaching works because I have seen it work with many other WA members.
  5. I am not a quitter. I hate to quit things. I dropped out of college many years ago (1973) when I was 19 and entered the workforce. Even then I wanted to finish what I had started. I spent over 25 years finishing my college a little at a time, going to over 5 colleges in all and finally graduated with a degree in 1999. I believe in finishing what I start.
  6. I love to learn and am a perpetual learner. WA is a great platform to find continuous learning.
  7. If I quit, I would miss this community that I have grown to love. I do believe I would have horrible withdrawal pains if I quit.
  8. I host several sites here at WA and love the great hosting. I even host client sites here that I receive money for.
  9. Even though I continue to pay my Premium dues, I've made wise decisions that have reduced my monthly dues from $49 to $25/month. Its worth it to me to keep paying that $25/month for all I get from being a Premium member here at WA.
  10. I truly belive if I stick with WA I will reach my financial goals.

So for you that are still Premium members after a year or more, why do you stay?

-Shirley

Good on you, Shirley.
Nice to read your thoughts.
Paul.

Hi Shirley, so glad your not a quitter. Keep going, success is more than just financial, everything you have achieved so far is a success. Financial success will come.
Justin

Hi Shirley,
I'm glad you've made the decision to stay :)
I recently renewed my yearly membership, so I'm just starting my second year here. Whilst I'm not making the money I'd originally hoped, I'm certainly moving on the right trajectory which is wonderful. The way I see it, if I keep going, it will keep improving and growing. Giving up is not an option!
All the very best to you Shirley.
Cheers
Melissa

Thank you for sharing... woderful!

What I like is the hosting facility and the fact that site support is there to catch up with us. Also the fact that we all strive for the same: a working wEbsite and all that comes wIth it. Like a big interacrive enchanting classroom ...

Good luck

This is a great community. I'm here for several months, not earning anything , but I plan to stay.

You had a wise decision.

Since you are having some income from being a member, why leave?
As a stay at home mom, I am pretty much home-bound too. I think being an affiliate marketer help keep my sanity lol!

I agree with it helps keep my sanity. I rarely leave my home except for a doctor visit. But its nice to be able to come online to WA and talk with real people about important things. Staying at home a lot can be boring. -Shirley

I have numerous reasons for staying, even though I'm far from achieving my goals. For one thing, I was already a writer when I joined WA, except I was writing content for clients. So the way I see it, this is my best chance to experience the other side, instead of just making someone else rich.

I still write for others, but I'm gradually moving away from that. If it weren't for the bills, I'd devote every waking hour to my own sites and they would be further along. I know I'll get there, but I also recognize that there's a lesson here for me in patience. I now know that this is what I want to do with my life.

I'm glad you're hanging in there, Shirley. The hard work will pay off. I'm sure it's paid off to some extent, but this is largely an exercise in trial and error. We learn as we go, trying things out. If they don't work, we simply adjust, adapt or try something else.

One of these days, you might reluctantly experiment with a new site that you think won't go anywhere, only to watch your traffic there grow faster than all your other sites put together. You never know. In any case, keep up the good work.

Best wishes,

Mark

Attitude its about how you see things, how you get things done, keeping going, looking at your achievements in the last 4 years. I am new to WA but know I can with the help here make a difference. Your post is an insperation, thanks for sharing.

Great post. I stay because I've learned a lot after a year as a premium member at Wealthy Affiliate, and now, I'm willing to capitalize on that experience and perform much better than the way I used to do things last year.

For the record, those making huge sums online have a great deal of experience already, at least 2 years for the majority. So I see my 1 year of experience as a plus that I must take advantage of right now so that by my second year, I could also show some success.

I've learned soooo much: blogging, vlogging, creating my own unique content, discovering social media platforms, and the learning process still continues.

I stay because I have acquired some fundamental skills, and I think it's time to use what I've learned to my advantage.

Never give up Just Fight Fight Fight
