Which Color goes with that?
This is just a short blog to share with you some information with which you may find help in choosing a color scheme for your blog.
I wish to start by recommending some of the other blogs / training found here. They are great for information on your color selection, so check these out.
I have to start with the blog by Garen with the infographic. His blog is titled Colors - What They Mean On Your Website
Ruth takes a moment to discuss The Psychology of Logo Colors and Shapes with here blog and infographic. Again a great read.
Then Jay produces another one of his 5 star encores to a training video (not sure which one yet - but I will eventually find it when I find more time) which he titled The Emotion Of Color in Web Design.
Then for an in depth treat to, Loes sets us up with great in depth training. You really should check it out. It's titled Psychology of Colors on your Website.
All of these articles, as well as others that I have checked deal primarily with your sites base color choice. Many of us only use 2 or 3 colors. Maybe 4. Some of the research I am finding says we should consider using more that 4 colors.
Plan out a new color scheme.
I am in process of building a new niche site (more on that in the future) and decided I wanted to set up a color scheme.
Unfortunately, I am "COLOR SCHEME CHALLENGED". If my wife didn't lay out my shirt and tie on Sunday, experience has shown that I may need to remove my tie when I get to church. My whole family knows this.
So where do I go to find this information. The web. I found a free (I love free) site which can help you.
Here is what I like about it:
- I can just browse
- I can search by a keyword (How I found the scheme I am going to use - with the approval of you know who)
- I can search by a base color if I have the code
- I can search by likes, loves, favorites, etc
- I can see whats trending
Do you know what the color of the year was for 2015 by this community?
http://www.colourlovers.com/coloroftheyear/2015/46...
Anyway, it has been a great and fun tool for one who is "COLOR SCHEME CHALLENGED", and any tool that lowers or removes that challenge gets my vote.
Share your thoughts or how you choose a scheme.
Best for 2016
Scott
Note: After writing this I found 2 more good resources here, so let me add them to the list.
Leo has an old blog from 2012 (sorry to age you Leo - and I didn't verify the links as active so I hope they work) titled Design Color Resources
Then we Lady May also did a great blog on the subject titled Psychology of good websites colors with free tools.
(Sorry I missed these earlier - They are great resources)
