Not Politically Correct

Traveling is in my blood, so I've been many places. Every time I came through customs coming back into the US, I would get tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Why? Because the Customers Officer always said "Welcome Home!" with a big smile and it left me with a tremendous sense of awe, gratitude and pleasure.

But things have changed and now the Fourth of July is a time of mourning for me. You see, my country, my beloved country has been lost. I still believe in the Constitution and that all men are created equal and that we have to right to pursue our lives unencumbered by the government. I believe in the Bill of Rights. I believe the government should serve the people (hence the term "public service") not control us. We created the wealthiest, most creative, diverse culture in the world based on those principles.

Our country was born as a result of the overbearing, overtaxing, controlling government of King George. My forefathers died to give the world a model government that we could look up to. And look at where we are now. What a mess!

Apparently meddling in the lives of our own citizens isn't enough for this travesty of a government, because we have to interfere in over 100 other countries as well. We manipulate in secret to control the world. Everyone hates us and wants to destroy us because of it. We are no longer a model, a paragon of virtue, but rather a laughingstock around the world.

Nor are we wealthy. Over 40 million people work for the government in one way or another (including subcontractors). And some 47% of our population is dependent on the government for some sort of subsidy. Government does not produce wealth, people do. So those that are producing are supporting this entire group, a group which is exploding with the recent influx of immigrants across our southern borders. This makes all of us poorer, except of course the infamous 1%.

Rather than serving the public, our government has devolved into a massive mafia working in secret collusion with the banks to enrich themselves and destroy the American Dream.

And now this brings tears to my eyes.

it would be nice to be able to trust but I have no faith in those who are supposed to have the interests of the people in their hearts seems to me it does not go beyond that. it will be a question of going for the best choice and hoping for the best lol.. have a good weekend

I think this is spot on!

I agree, but how do we start to change things? It may be near impossible to do so, but we should try. :) I keep trying to think of little things I can do.

Jenna, I'm giving thought to this. Right now I don't have any answers. And I'm not ready to face the logical conclusions.

I was just thinking...sometimes things get to a certain point/so corrupted that that's just the way it will mostly be, and certain things won't change because too many elite/high up people in the political ranks have control. I hope I make sense. It's pretty sad.

I think I was being too much of a Pollyanna-it's hard to see the reality sometimes.

Thanks for your post. I don't want anyone to get me wrong, I love America, I just wish it was a little different. I know there are some good people in the government, just not enough of them.

Thanks for letting me post my opinion. At least we have ethical and classy Wealthy Affiliate!

We have a hater of America leading this country. He is just a puppet doing as he is told by the shadow government (illuminati) so very sad to watch a once Great Country become so corrupt and greed driven.

Just confirms that all politics is theater! He put on quite a show, didn't he? Most importantly, the "critics" (MSM) bought into his performance.

I'm sure you've heard the phrase "Divide and Conquer"...well, he's doing a bangup job of that, don't you think?

Don't get me started LOL it makes my blood boil the things that the white house gets away with. I can tell you this much if he were a white Republican he wouldn't be in office anymore and that's all I will say right now.

You are correct...I read an interesting story that said he would never be impeached because the aftermath would be worse. House of Cards...life imitating theater instead of the other way around!

I am not convinced on that one for there are too many grey area's and I have not seen certain plans for infrastructure on certain services, sometimes wonder wouldn't it be nice to live outside of the rat race

It would be nice to be able to trust that those who are responsible for such things as infrastructure are honorable and ethical. The rest will work itself out, I think.

I can only imagine, do not know enough about the politics of the USA and as Scotland moves towards the vote for independence I wonder will it do any good..I expect your right in your summing up of it in your homeland

It may help, Katie. I think the more local a government is, the more accountable it is. It can be equally corrupt, but at least it seems like you would have more control.

I live in one very small but beautiful country. In Slovenia which is part of Europe. But I don't like our policy also. They are worse than mafia. But O.K. I have no comment about USA. It's not fair regarding to american members. :)

How delightfully polite of you :-)

It is indeed a sad state of affairs and just about every country has something going on that is not in keeping with the best interests of the people they are supposed to serve, corruption, poverty, greed and underhanded dealings are rife throughout, and even when someone with all the good intentions gets in power they are smothered by the rest of them that have their own agenda.
I often say all those in politics share one thing in common,, Amnesia as once their in all that was promised is forgotten

Being a political cynic, I'm not sure I believe that they believed in the first place. I believe that all politics is posturing to get elected. I don't think it's about smothering, I think it's about slathering with dough. Imagine Hillary Clinton saying she's "Not really well off."

I read something recently which resonated...secrecy allows corruption. The ray of hope that I see is based on social media which has made it harder to operate in secret, even though the mainstream media effectively ignores the corruption. I believe the people KNOW. Hopefully it will be enough.

As to secrecy, imagine the ramifications of a secret trade deal. They are negotiating a secret trade deal right now (I think it's called TPP). And some of the secrecy surrounding the Patriot Act is astonishing!

I would agree with you and I think your politics are wonderful, I see the same thing happening, we are loosing our democracy and it is like this;
Misery for the many and profit for the few, a few people are now running the world for their own ends, it called modern day slavery
I hope one day ordinary people like us can make a stand and change this world for the better so it benefits the many and not the few

Barry

Hi, Barry
Thanks for your note. I have recently found little glimmers here and there. I'm still assimilating the information and will eventually write about them. It's one of those things that is just beyond my intellectual reach at the moment (that's what I mean by assimilate) so I can't verbalize it. It would be a blessing if that stand could be a peaceful one, but judging from the rest of the world, I'm doubtful. When tiny town rural American police departments have tanks, it makes me wonder.

I so agree with your commentary. I moved out of the US last year. Though I have not given up my passport it is at times tempting. I watch the news in Europe and the USA looks weak in the world even though everyone looks to the USA in times of trouble. Our political system seems to not work. Only the wealthy govern. When they greeted me at customs in May I told them only temporary as I will return in September back to France. Thanks for sharing. Debbie

Ah, France...you lucky girl! I used to spend a great deal of time there as my father lived in France for 35 years...and I loved it. Thanks for your comment. I was a little reticent about publishing anything political. Blessings~Ansley
