My First Sale Experience
Just had my first sale and got a 15% commission on a $200 product. Wahoo! :)
It's not thousands of dollars but it's still something to be proud of after being here for a few months. So, I wanted to share this experience that I had that goes along with it...
A friend of mine on social media text me and said that they had purchased a product that I had promoted on my Facebook page. I was excited to say the least but since this is new for me, I went to my affiliate page with that company and I didn't see the sale.
So, being the newbie that I am and just double checking that I did get the commission, I called the company directly and spoke to the owner. She told me that they had a snow storm yesterday and their power went out, which just meant that their accounting department had not yet updated my affiliate page showing my commission. That gave me peace of mind after speaking to her. They are a family owned business and very reputable but that is just their process. It's not instant like Amazon.
So, I thought this would be helpful information for people to know that if you are working with a smaller company, always double check your affiliate page on their site if you're aware you had a sale. Good research with a small company goes a long way to make sure that you are working with someone reputable because most of the time you won't know when someone places an order for a product you're promoting unless they tell you, like in my case.
I have a few companies that I promote products for and in this day and age, TRUST also has to be a big factor to make sure that you are getting compensated for your efforts and hard work.
Hope this helps someone. :)
