I am just not getting the keyword research

I have been here at WA for 4 months and I am just not getting keyword research down very much. I have been getting some hits in google, but I am around 70 posts and still getting most of my traffic through social media.not sure if my keyword research is doing good or not. I also have read blogs from within my own niche and they have said that the keyword is not that important...

so is it or is it not and what might I need to focus on?

Are you starting with the alphabet soup method and then researching with Jaaxy?

Well I don't have jaxxy I am just using the free one here at WA. I do use the alphabet soup but again there is just not enough to the keyword. There are only like 3 keyword that get more than 100clicks a month which is the common search term then the rest are usually below that or the 10>.

What is your webmaster telling you. Which search terms are your ranking for?

I have no idea. When I go into webmaster tools for google it doesn't make sense to me.

Hi, I would suggest going back over the lessons and using the search bar with "keywords" and reading other tutorials, blogs and posts.. it will come together for you keep at it :-)

Keywords are important ;-) keep going through until you understand and keep writing quality posts :-)

Hope this helps

LOL! Isn't that just repeating what I said, :P , oh well, let's all flog a dead horse!

:P

Does not matter what niche/topic - if a keyword is not that important how then will Google decide what is relevant content to put on page 1 when someone issues a search query? It is the only way Google can tell - keyword in title, meta description, H1 and H2 tags, in the content and if you can manage it, in the URL etc...

I think I am putting in a relevant keyword but just not making sure it is low hanging fruit. I can't seem to find keyword s that are better than any other. So bi haven't been picky with my keyword s.

Keywords are the key (pun completely intended), only second most to content, but they absolutely have to come together.

To be honest I have never found better information about Keywords then I have from Kyle (of WA). That is why I signed up to WA so many years ago. I read an e-book written by Kyle about how to use Keywords effectively within Google AdWords. Needless to say it worked and I instantly began getting better results and saved literally thousands of dollars in Google AdWords costs on a month to month basis. So about 20k over a year.

Everything you need to know is in the training here at WA.

Maybe go back to the start and begin again. I have done that about 4 times. Screws my head back on fairly firmly each time.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Anyone who says Keywords are not important, when it comes to getting traffic via Search Engines, has NO idea what they are talking about.

Like Eric, I'm still trying to wrap my head around keywords.

Till now I've simply been writing up my posts and then looking for keywords to use from what I have already written - they're pretty horrible keywords!

I think I need to first seek out keywords and then include them in my post. Is that correct?

If you follow exactly what Kyle and Carson teach here in WA you are doing it correctly. I mean sure there is things they do that I don't and won't, and I bet there is things I do that they don't and won't. I say if you have these questions take it back to basics. Start at lesson 1 and then reapply what you will re-learn (or just learn) and alter your websites, blogs, posts etc accordingly. Adjust how you are doing things. Or maybe you will learn you are already doing it right. Unfortunately you can do everything right and still not errr... succeed... {tip toe, tip toe} errr financially. You dig? Your content still has to be engaging. Your content needs to actually be desirable, if you are writing about something nobody cares about... well... you get the picture. In stark contrast to that if you are writing about something everyone else is, and you aren't doing it better... or with a unique take... well. Some people just fill white space for the sake of filling white space. Some people just say what someone else is saying, and not any better. It won't work unless you are a dynamo with SEO and can outrank everyone else on that merit alone ;)

To be fair this is all covered in the WA training and anything I say here is really just trying to re-invent the wheel. It has all been said many times before... and not just within WA.

Hope this helps ;)

Corey
