Absence and Re-Motivation
Hey everyone..
I have been absent for quite some time now.
By this, I mean I haven't been active in the WA community, or posting to my site in a little over a month.
Many of you might be asking the question, "Why... why would you give up on a community that is so supportive and why would you give up on your dream?"
Here's the thing, life simply got in the way the last month.
The weather is turning cold and the leaves are turning too. Everywhere you look there are shades of orange, red, brown, and even pink or purple!
If you are a teacher, you'll know what this means.
You'll associate this feeling with the joys of school, laughing students, the ever-so-loved school bell, and the once again busy hallways. I am a teacher and school has started once again. If you are a teacher or know anybody that is a teacher, you will know that this career is a very exhausting and daunting task. This is my career because I used to think of my teachers as superheroes. I have always wanted to be a superhero to students as well.
However, because this is my career, I have taken a leave of absence from reaching my dreams of building passive income. I have simply ran out of time.
The last few weeks my guilt of not working hard towards my website and towards this community has eaten me away. I think about it often.
I also have been dreading most mornings when I wake up for school. It seems I have lost motivation in a lot of ways so far this fall.
However, I believe I may have found the needle in the haystack that is life. I believe that I may have discovered a motivating factor. I want to replace my full time job.
I want to build a successful online business and replace my 7-?? job.
This newly found motivation has allowed me to finish an article I had started what seems like many moons ago. I am hoping, that with completeing the article, that I will be able to continue writing mulitple times a week once more.
I thank you to this community for always being here, being supportive, and most importantly, never giving up on someone.
Thank you.
Russell

Thank you so much for the inspiration and for the readiness to always help others. I surely will remember my why as I move forward and begin working hard once more.

It´s all about balancing demands on your time, sometimes things just have to shift in your priorities, Best Alan
Welcome back! Life is that pesky thing that gets in the way, it seems like all the time. I don't envy you being a teacher, don't get me wrong I think it's a noble profession and requires a dedication above and beyond. I also think it's not appreciated as it should be.
I don't know what your niche is but, being a teacher, you should be a perfect fit for WA. You can take what you learn here and use it to promote whatever you niche may be and, in time, start another site to promote WA itself, using your teaching skills to help others achieve what they want in life.
I know it can be hard but keep this in mind. Anything worth doing is worth doing right and takes time and commitment. Take the give and take approach. Give up something you want to do now so you have the time and means to do it later. An example would be, don't go on that weekend trip this time. Devote that time to your WA business. Down the line, once your business is established, take that week-long getaway instead.
In life it's all about balancing your needs and wants. My biggest enemy is my need for instant gratification. It's hard for me not to travel now and I use the excuse "do it while you can because you don't know what the future holds". To a degree that's true but at the same time that $4000 I just spent on a 2 week vacation could have been put to better use. Maybe paying off a line of credit, investing it into my business and so on. That time I just spent away...I could have used to to further my online business.
I can tell you this...my 2 week vacation really hit my visitor count hard. On the plus side I took time during my vacation to write post drafts and gather footage for my drone related site so I did make it a "working vacation" in a sense.
I'm sure I've talked your ear off so I'm going to go now but it's nice to see that you came back and that your online business is weighing on your mind. That "guilty feeling" is your minds way of letting you know "Hey! This is important. Don't forget about it.".
I hope to see you online.
Merlyn,
I thank you so much for taking the time to write me such a inspiring and well thought out comment.
I too struggle with the need for instant gratification. I believe if I focus on the tips that you mentioned, hopefully it will allow me to progress and make a positive change in my life!
I especially will try to set aside time, even on vacation, just to get a little bit done as to take things day by day.
Thank you for this post.

Hi Russell, I hear what you are saying. Instead of feeling guilty about not writing anything for a month, motivate yourself by setting small goals to keep you on track. Instead of sitting down and writing a blog, maybe sit down and write the framework. Next day, write a couple of paragraphs of the blog. And another couple of paragraphs....and another couple of paragraphs and it is suddenly finished! Post it and you will feel very empowered. So don't beat yourself up. Slow and steady wins the race. Good luck with your online business and with your teaching.
Thank you for this great advice.
I really like your idea of doing small amounts when I can and not overthinking this all.
I will use your advice moving forward and take one day at a time.
Thanks again,
Russell
Hi Russell,
You start very early at 7 every day. I believe what you have been experiencing was quite normal. There are many of us here who experienced the same. What is important is to take the tasks at your own pace. Time management is key. It's a reminder for myself too.
All the best to you.

Hi Russell, no worries, life interrupts us all at some point. The important thing is you are back and motivated to continue on. Wishing you all the best,
Toni
Hi Russell - I know exactly the place you are in. I had the same motivational issues since my brother passed away in April. I just couldn't find the motivation or drive to write anything. The time has come again to get focused.
Maybe we could use each other to help with that motivation!
All the best
Nick
I am so sorry to hear of this Nick.
Hopefully together we can all find proper motivation to continue!
Thank you for reaching out!

Hello Russell, one of the hardest professions is that of a teacher. My mother was one and many evenings we would see her preparing lessons for the next day or grading exams. On holidays she would attend University to upgrade. All that to say I hear and recognise where you are coming from to try and also make your dream a reality. I hope you have found that second wind and can rise to the occasion.
Thank you Harvey. You surely know where I am coming from. I appreciate your kind words of encouragement.
