Hi Again Roy I just did a search and found Kyle's comment on this to another member which is as below along with the BWK post it came from.

"Yes, for sure. Starters can earn up to $5 within the points program, but you are going to be fully monetized when you upgrade to Premium Plus+ and you will be able to earn from the system as you contribute and you partake in it. :)"

6

Good morning Andre,

My apologies for the late reply.

Thank you for the video, Andre, although, I had already seen the video, as I always try and watch Kyle's updates, I learnt quite a few things, so it was very useful. Now the system is actually operating, it was good to learn more about the points system, etc.

Yes, that makes sense, I felt I should know, but I really couldn't remember. I know the starter members always have limitations, which I fully understand and it makes a lot of sense. But that's enough to give starter members a taste of the system and what's possible, etc.

I appreciate your help.

Have a great day.

Roy

No probs Roy and no need to apologize all good.

At least we know now that is the main thing.

Enjoy your day too.

Andre

1

Thank you, Andre, much appreciated.

Yes indeed!

All the best.

Roy

1

You are most welcome Roy enjoy your day

Andre

Hi Roy I remember reading a comment from Kyle somewhere that starter can earn up to $5 per month with the new system here but of course they still need to meet the minium thresehold of $10.

3

Okay, that sounds fair enough as the starter membership is just a taste of what's to come when people upgrade.

Roy

1

Yep fair enough as a taste the thing is there are some what a fake and this would lead to more abuse outside the norm so set a min and those that are serious can upgrade but the focus should always be on the website this will not make them rich

1

It's always sad, annoying, when people try and abuse the system, especially as Kyle and the team, trying to make the platform better with small perks, etc. Thankfully, I haven't seen so many people spamming as I was a few weeks ago. When I see someone using the same comment, on the same thread, multiple times, I report them. As you know, these people stand out fairly well!

Exactly, the earnings are a bonus, but certainly not the main focus.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Roy

1

True Roy and it is better at the moment we did as always in spurts have some who have no intention to learn here but as we have always seen they are dealt with properly.
Take care

Andre

Hey, Roy,
At the moment, I have the same imagination as you. I don't know if they can earn money, but even if they do, their access to many features is limited, making it difficult them to interact with the community. That interaction is what creates points with monetary values.

John

2

I think that Andre's answer sums it up fairly well, John.

I just watched the video again, I had seen it before, but it's nice to have a refresher on what Kyle is talking about, etc.

Have a great day.

Roy

Ah, I'm glad you got it answered.

John

My understanding is that yes you can, because I have some outstanding credits waiting to be paid, once my threshold is reached.

Thank you, Dave.

That looks like it proves the point.

I have been thinking about, for probably too long, trying out YouTube live. Most of my videos are created using Camtasia, where I can share my screen, however, this isn't going

7

If it is just you and a basic YouTube live without any fancy extra things or extra participants, then there is no need to use any other tool than just do it directly on YouTube. You can just go there and start a live and in the settings, mark it as unlisted, and then no one else will see it while you test, and then you can get a sense of what it can do.

2

Thank you, Mikael, I appreciate you responding to my question.

Thank you for the heads up, that sounds like a good idea for testing, I didn't know that.

Am I right in saying that if I want to share my screen, which I normally do in my videos, then I need some software?

Have a good evening.

Roy

1

No, you would not need any software for that. When you go live with YouTube, there is also an option to share your screen. I just quickly started one I set to private to double check and it is there, so just create one unlisted or private to test and no one will see it.

1

Thank you, Mikael, I really appreciate your information, as I was always under the assumption that you needed software to share your screen with YouTube live! I'm guessing that this is quite a new feature, which is great!

I listen to quite a bit of information about YouTube, from professional YouTuber's and I was always under the assumption that I needed something like StreamYard, if I needed to share my screen, which probably was right. I believe until about a year ago, StreamYard was quite cheap, but now it's gone up considerably.

I try to make my videos informative, but not fancy, so it looks like I don't need any software, which is great. Do you know if you can go between the WebCam and sharing my screen, Mikael? Anyway, I appreciate the helpful information.

Have a great day.

Roy

1

I am not sure if it is a new feature. I think it has been there for a while. But a software like Streamyard has more features, especially if you interview people or something like that, it is needed. But likely some of the big YouTubers are also affiliates for Streamyard and therefore say you absolutely need it:-)

You should be able to jump between webcam and screensharing. Again, just start a live in private mode and then test exactly what it can do. Let me know how it goes.

1

After I wrote my comment to you yesterday, Mikael, I asked ChatGPT. Apparently, they started playing around with the idea in 2019, which surprised me, however, I don't think it was working properly until about 22/23.

That's interesting what you say about the big YouTuber's, as the person who promotes this does have an affiliate program for StreamYard! To be fair, I have never heard him say once that if you are making straightforward videos, you don't need StreamYard! If StreamYard was $10 a month, I would probably go for it, but when it gets to $25 plus a month, which may even be per channel, it starts to mount up.

I often wonder why YouTube doesn't include these features in the platform, but maybe there are more technical reasons and other reasons why they don't.

I will definitely test this out, Mikael, in private mode, it will be good to see what I can actually do with YouTube live. Normally, when I'm using Camtasia, I have a small picture of myself in the right-hand corner and share my screen. I'm guessing that YouTube live can't do that, but maybe it will be a feature for the future.

Have a great day and thank you for your help.

Roy

Hey Roy,

Pedro is the genius when it comes to using OBS.

Here's some of his training that may convince you that OBS is the preferred software to use for YouTube Live: There are other great tips that Pedro has offered, and you can find them under his training videos here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/i-pedro-i/training

Hope you find this helpful.

1

Hello Trish,

I hope that you are doing well.

Thank you for helping with my question, it's appreciated.

I just had a look at Pedro's video, I believe I could get used to the OBS system.

I'm told that StreamYard is very good and simple to use, however the price has increased dramatically over the last few months, I believe.

So it looks like OBS may be the way forward.

I will have a look at more of Pedro's training.

Incidentally, is Pedro still on the platform, I haven't seen his name cropped up recently.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Roy

OBS Studio is a great option and open soruce solution. It may take a bit to learn it but it is full featured and there are thousands of good YouTube Videos to help you along the way.

- Glen Barnhardt

2

Thank you, Glen, for your response, it's appreciated.

If StreamYard was still around $10 a month, I would seriously think about it, as I think it's very straightforward to use, from what I understand. But it sounds like OBS studio may be a good option, I'm going to look into it.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Hi Roy.

You need to contact GoDaddy support regarding the domain transfer. They'll be able to help you better than we.

As for moving your site, there are two ways;

1- Contact Site Support and ask them to create the latest backup of your site and send it to you. Give that backup to the new owner, and they can restore it themselves. Just know that support can be a pain these days.

2- Ask GoDaddy support to move it for you. You'll need to provide them with your site FTP credentials. You can get it by going to Websites - SiteManager. Click the Details button on the website you want to move. Under Domain details, you'll see the FTP details (attachment).

Hi Roy,

The sites here at WA are made with WordPress. There are two plugins that can help you move the site.

1. Duplicator Pro
2. All in one WP Migration.

Basically you load the plugin and follow the instructions.

I've used All in One WP Migration many times and it worked very well. Duplicator Pro is supposed to be better. I haven't used that one so i don't really know.

Hope this helps,

Hi Roy, I transferred my domain from NameCheap to WA, and WA made the transfer for me. So, I suppose the new owner of the site can request that GoDaddy Support do it. I think you may need to ask GoDaddy Support to confirm.

I know this is a subject that's talked a lot about on Wealthy Affiliate, I know that Mel often talks about Amazon publishing.

Yesterday, I was reading Mel's blog post abo

10

Here's an overview of the process you could use:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YMEzKboKy0

I write my books/ebooks directly into Adobe Indesign. You can certainly use a Word Doc, but I don't do that.

You'll have your title page, ISBN page, Table of Contents if needed, an Introduction if you like. Dedication page if you like, each Chapter. Conclusion.

There are just so many ways to create a book and what you may include in it.

Mel

3

Maybe this would be a good line of videos I could create on Youtube or even here on WA whenever we can finally vlog.

Mel

3

Definitely, Mel, I think that would go down extremely well!

Wishing you all the best.

Roy

1

Hello Mel,

I hoped that you would see my question, I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I will have a look at that YouTube video, that looks ideal. I just had a quick look, but am about to shut down for the day! I will have a look tomorrow, Mel.

I can see I have a lot to learn, however, I have always been a big reader, I still enjoy reading and also listen to audiobooks.

Thanks for the heads up, Mel, much appreciated.

All the best.

Roy

1

How much did you invest in doing this?
I too have been wondering what was asked.

1

I know that you are asking, Mel, the question, Linda. However, I believe in this day and age, it's fairly easy to publish a book, I guess the biggest cost is our time to write the book, especially if we are producing a digital book or download.

Roy

1

Yes, definitely. I know I need step by step instructions from beginning to end.

2

Good Morning from FL Roy,

Since I have published several books myself on Amazon Here are some tips.

1. Your Book Idea: You can use chatGPT or just brainstorm your ideas on the book topic you wish to write about. I like AI because it not only gives excellent suggestions it is also though provoking. Meaning it gets your creative juices flowing.

2. Create an Outline: Once you have a good idea of what you will write about have AI create an outline. Now I always go back and forth with AI till I get what I want. Remember just taking what is provided isn't really creating the book your self.

3. Write the book: I then take the outline that AI and I created and go through each of the sections one at a time. I go into great detail and tell chatGPT exactly what I want covered in each of these sections. I will write much better than you will most of the time. However, I always find things that I call to AI'ish So I tell chat to rewrite those sections and give it guidance. Many times I will flat out tell it don't use the word "XYZ" because I know it's one of those words that are almost used by AI. Sometimes I tell it don't make this sound so much like AI wrote it. And you would be surprised at how it changes things to sound more human written.

4. Create a Good Cover: When they say you can't judge a book by it's cover it's because there are so many good books that no one will ever read because it has an amateur cover. If you are set to do the cover yourself I suggest you get chatGPT to create an image. Give it dimensions so you get the right image size. Tell it no text just an image. You will almost always get a really nice image be sure to be detailed in your prompt of what your idea is though. Now I have done my cover several ways. Just take the image to Amazon and. use there cover generator. That is usually the easiest. There are a lot of things that go into getting the layout of your cover correct (number of pages so the binding is sized right, front and back covers, ISBN barcode. Amazon does all of this for you. Another option is use fiverr. But above all have people see it and get a feel of if they like it or not. What you like may not be what the majority like. Now I often use PhotoShop and do my cover taht way but I'm ultra tech savvy. So you always have to consider what your abilities are.

5. Launch Strategy: This you can write a whole book on itself. But Use chatGPT to help you out. Also have a Wealthy Affiliate site for each book. This is one thing where if you write it they WILL NOT come. My experience has been that with a good launch it builds momentum that will keep growing. Amazon will take over and promote your book when it sees you have put in the effort to get it noticed.

6. Publish It: Amazon isn't the only place but if you choose certain options you are locked in to Amazon only. So decide in your launch strategy if you plan to put your book on other platforms. Ingram, Good Reads and many other places. Also you can get it listed in catalogs that go out to the major book stores like barnes n noble. But That cover and having good traction online is what drives bookstores to buy.

You sill be amazed at what a good SEO strategy can do for any product. Book, Amazon etc.. This is why Wealthy Affiliate has been around for almost 20 years.

Now I have to say this is my first post in years here. I had to concentration on my own business for a while and now I'm semi-retired. Of all the millions of things I could have done online I came back here to WA. Because I know it works.

Roy, I hope this post has given you enough to pursue what you are after. I can tell you one thing for sure. Just get started and do it.

6

A really great answer, Glen.

Taetske

2

Hello Glen,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed response, I really do appreciate it. Writing a book is something that I have wanted to do for a long time, but it just hasn't happened.

However, I have been writing something out in a Word document for the past few months, I try and add a section each day. I think I'm up to about 18,000 words now, so I am making progress.

Thank you for telling me about the other places where I can publish. Due to the fact that Amazon is so big, it's the first place I think about, but it's interesting that there are other options.

Yes, I really do think a book can be powerful, hence why I've wants to do it for a long time. I also have some other book titles in mind, but I haven't started those books yet, but it will happen.

Once again, I appreciate the excellent response, thank you.

Wishing you all the best on your travels and semi retirement.

Roy

1

Yes, I agree, Taetske!

I hope that you are keeping well and enjoying sunny Spain.

All the best.

Roy

1

Good evening Roy,

The first heat wave started before the summer did.
Expected are 3, hotter than normal summer months.

Greetings from the south of Spain.

Taetske

1

Good evening Taetske,

It's good to hear from you, Taetske, I haven't seen you much on the platform, although I have been quite busy.

I didn't realise it been extra hot in Spain and started early, etc.

I hope you have somewhere to go where you can cool down comfortably.

We had a seriously grey winter here in the UK, with hardly any sun, it was the greyest winter that most people could remember! However, we have now had really sunny weather, since the beginning of spring and hardly any rain! We do live in the driest part of the UK, but is exceptionally dry at the moment.

I wish you all the best and hope that you can stay cool.

Roy

1

We were blessed last autumn/winter with 350 Liters.
This year, January through April, an amazing 400plus Liters.
The previous years it was only a fraction and I had the summer watering program going the whole year.
There are a lot of weeds, but my chickens love them.
What is not funny is the snail plague. Every morning we tour the vegetable garden, and they even dare to eat the tender leaves of my 2 baby bougainvilleas.
As my farm is organic, a lot of hand-work is required. The 200-year-old farm house has 50 centimeter thick wall, no air condition needed.

Hasta Pronto,

One other thing you might want to try out is Atticus. It's online software designed for writing. I used to do Word or Google Doc's but once I found Atticus I never turned back.

Thank you, Besides Amazon, how do we publish one?

1

Good morning Taetske,

That's good that you had some rain in the winter, I'm sure it's always greatly received in places like Spain. It's hard work when we have to continually water, that's why I think we are better to have irrigation systems in place, provided we have the water to irrigate.

It's great that the chickens can make use of an unwanted pest. I used to keep chickens and my brother and sister-in-law still do, it's great to have fresh eggs. It's good that your chicken's are removing the unwanted weeds!

It always amazes me, how there is always something after our crop, it makes a lot of work.

That's great that you're farmhouse has thick walls and no air conditioning is needed, sometimes I think we have gone backwards!

Great to chat with you, Taetske.

Have a wonderful day.

Roy

Thank you, Glen, much appreciated.

I must admit that I had never heard of Atticus, do you think it's worth it, Glen? I kind of imagined that Amazon may provide everything we need, however, I am talking about something that I have never done!!

Although I use Microsoft Word, I also know that many people say that it's brilliant, but the truth is that I don't really know how to use it. I never find that it particularly works in a commonsense way, so maybe Atticus is a better option.

I appreciate the heads-up.

Roy

Glen mentioned this in his reply to me, Linda.

"Ingram, Good Reads and many other places." I'm sure a Google search would take you deeper, I guess it's something we learn as we start to get going with book writing.

I hope this helps.

Roy

It is absolutely worth it. Here's why:

You create chapters. Then you write each of your chapters. there is a tool bar on the editor where you can do some formatting of the text add special thinks like page ends, and I forget the name but some times you put . . . to denote the the end of your thought and in Atticus you can set a really image to go there. When you are done with chapters you don't have to create an index it's done for you. You don't have to create most of the forward material it's done when you enter the book information at the beginning. They have templates for forward, end matter, and most pages that you never know how to format. But I think the most valuable part is that it does the formatting. You choose a format from the many they have and it does the whole inside of the book sets the titles, drop caps if you like. Plus you can modify the format templates to fit what you like. One of my books is titled "God's Ultimate Promise" If you want to look it up on amazon and click on "look inside" you will see that it is formatted as nice as any professional publisher would do. And I didn't have to do anything to get that. As well it has different formats you can do pdf, and epub.

So basically when your done writing you can do a few tweaks in the formatting section and your ready to publish. And it's 147.00 One time. You own it forever. They are constantly updating it with new features and never have they asked me for a dime more.

You would pay way more than that to have your book formatted.

I have no affiliation with Atticus, I've reached out to the owner on occasion and he has always responded. So that's another thing that in the online world is rare. And the support is fantastic also.

So Yes it's worth it. If you want to bring your work from word be sure to use the paste from word option. See this is another thing that most people don't know. Word put's all kinds of formatting code in your document. That has caused me so many problems in itself.

Anyway, I tend to run on, Yes it's worth it.

- Glen

1

Thank you, Glen, I really do appreciate your detailed response.

It really does sound like a good time saver, with lots of features. I must admit, I kind of thought that Amazon may have something like this within their book creation software. However, I guess not, by what you are telling me, which I appreciate.

I just looked up "God's Ultimate Promise", I'm going to have a look inside your book. I noticed that you also have it published in hardback and paperback, as well as Kindle, which is great! Bravo for creating a Christian book. My first book is also going to be a Christian devotional type book.

It's good that it's also a one-time fee, but still has updates, etc.

Yes, I understand where you're coming from, regarding Microsoft Word, I always use plain text, as I'm aware it can add all sorts of formatting, especially if you're publishing to a website.

Once again, thank you so much for a really thorough response.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Roy

Mel is the KDP Guru here. Pick his brain! Just be sure to use an extra-small fork to match the size. 😀

Actually, he is a fun guy with loads of knowledge.

Hello Michael,

Thank you for responding to my question, I do appreciate it.

Yes, mine are I think of KDP, I think of Mel!

I think he has responded to my question, I'm just working my way through the answers.

Wishing you all the best.

Roy

Good Luck Roy!

1

Thank you, Michael, I appreciate your feedback.

Roy

What is KDP?

1

It's Kindle direct publishing, Linda!

All the best.

Roy

Oh, right!
Do they do paperbacks too?

Hi Roy,
Your right there has been a wealth of info/trainings.
I would start with using the search bar at the top to discover what's here within WA.

1

Hello Rob,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question, it's appreciated.

It looks like I have quite a few responses, which is great.

But I hear you, the search bar is very useful for finding relevant training, etc.

All the best to you.

How to create a book?

How to create a book?

Getting Started

A really great answer, Glen.

Roy

Yes, I agree, Taetske!

I hope that you are keeping well and enjoying sunny Spain.

All the best.

Roy

We were blessed last autumn/winter with 350 Liters.
This year, January through April, an amazing 400plus Liters.
The previous years it was only a fraction and I had the summer watering program going the whole year.
There are a lot of weeds, but my chickens love them.
What is not funny is the snail plague. Every morning we tour the vegetable garden, and they even dare to eat the tender leaves of my 2 baby bougainvilleas.
