How Long Should A Comment Be!

This is kind of a question and a blog post all in one.

I generally enjoy reading some of the blog posts and the training videos that various members put up on the platform, especially when they are on topic with the platform. However, quite often, my comments are fairly long and detailed, maybe I need to turn those comments into a post, as you can do this on LinkedIn.

If I read someone’s blog post, I do like to give a detailed response and the same if it’s a training post, etc. Do you think it is good to give a long and detailed response to blog posts or just a simple, great post, etc. I have noticed that many members just give a simple word like, thanks or I really enjoyed the class, etc.

It does take time to respond to a post or a class in detail, but I like to respond properly rather than just a few words.

What are your thoughts on the subject, please, a quick response or a detailed response?

Thank you for reading.

Roy

It all depends on the post we have read for me Roy... if I able to give a long and informative reply due to my personal experience or knowledge, then I will!!

Other times... when not in my knowledge bracket, a shorter reply, maybe requesting more info is given!

But.... to a lot of the 100% obviously AI written blogs here, no comment is needed and I just move on with my life!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend! :-)

Good morning Nick,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for commenting, it's appreciated.

That's a very wise answer! One of my reasons for giving longer answers is that I want to make sure that the author knows that I have thoroughly read the blog post. However, I am aware that I may be overdoing the response at times. But I think you are right in what you say, Nick.

Bravo to that; "But.... to a lot of the 100% obviously AI written blogs here, no comment is needed and I just move on with my life!!" Great minds think alike!

I used to spend quite a bit of time in the top 10 blog posts, but now I fly through them, due to AI blog posts!

A very happy Sunday to you.

Roy

Cheers Roy and great minds do indeed think alike!!

Some of the AI content here is very educational, but.... I just prefer it to be written from experience and the heart!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend buddy! :-)

Definitely, Nick, I agree, big time!👍💯

I do understand where you are coming from regarding AI content, Nick. I much prefer content coming from the heart and genuine experience, which is really what Wealthy Affiliate is all about. We should be blogging about our genuine experience, whether it's good or bad.

Some of the content I see on members' personal websites is AI content, which is then followed by AI comments and then an AI comment reply from the original author!! I find that incredible!

Have a great week.

Roy

Absolutely Roy and you as well!!

Are you going over to Greece for a bit this winter to get a bit of sunshine my friend???

Thank you, Nick, much appreciated!

I'm probably going to wait till April, Nick, as although the weather is much better than in the UK, it will be considerably warmer in April. I always look forward to my trips to Greece! How is life in France?

Have a great day.

Roy

April is a great time to go Roy!

France is, well.... France!! Pretty chilly at the moment, but I certainly prefer this weather to the scorching summers!

Enjoy the rest of your week my friend! :-)

Good morning Nick,

I think so, Nick. April in Greece can almost be like a pleasant summer's day in the UK!

I think hot summers are okay if you have an air-conditioned room to get away from the heat. When I see road repairman working in Greece in the summer with long trousers on, I do feel sorry for them!

On one of my monitors, I have a live webcam of Thessaloniki, it's nice to watch the sun come up there against the grey skies of the UK. It also reminds me of good times.

Enjoy the cooler weather, Nick.

Have a fantastic day.

Roy

Roy,
If you should ever comment on a post of mine, I do not mind long comments as long as they are relevant to the subject at hand. To me, a longer comment leads me to believe you have read the post and wish to give good feedback on the article.
Jerry

Thank you for commenting, Jerry, it's appreciated.

This is how I kind of look at it, Jerry, if someone has taken the trouble to write a post, I want to respond to it in a proper way. However, I can see both sides of the story!

Have a great day.

Roy

Hi Roy

My preference is a short and to the point response in most cases, but longer detailed responses, especially when commenting on training, at times can be a more appropriate way to go. I believe it totally depends on the content that you are commenting about.

Thanks for this thought provoking post, Roy!

Tim 🎼

Good morning Tim,

I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post.

It appears that members have mixed feelings on the subject, but I do understand where you're coming from. I can see both sides of the story! I think you have hit the nail on the head.

Have a fantastic day.

Roy

Good morning Roy,

You're very welcome!

Enjoy the rest of your week.....we're half way to the weekend!

Tim 🎼

Hi Roy…my preference would be a more detailed comment (like what you always provide) that shows a reader has actually absorbed what has been said. That being said, occasionally a short response could work in a pinch but it doesn’t really pinpoint what a reader has found helpful.

Hoping you are keeping well!

Susan

Hello Susan,

Thank you for commenting, it's appreciated.

There are some interesting responses here and I can see both sides of the story. I like to give a genuine detailed response to show that I'm interested in the author's post and the points that I have made, etc.

All is well at this end, thank you, Susan. I hope that you are well.

Have a fantastic day.

Roy

I like to give detailed comments because with experience you can share that experience in a comment.

I hear you, Dave, that's kind of where I'm coming from! But at the same time, it is interesting to hear what other people think about my question.

If someone is taking the time to write a quality post, I like to give a detailed response. But I can see the other side of the story as well.

I hope that you are doing well.

Thank you commenting.

Roy

Glad it helped and yes I am well thanks

The other thing is giving a detailed response Also means people are attracted to following you.

I am glad that all is well, Dave, that's good news.

Yes, that's another plus point for giving a detailed response, it shows we are genuinely interested in what the author is writing.

All the best.

Roy

You too Roy and trust you are well too

All is well, thank you, Dave.

Have a great day.

Roy

You too.
