How Accurate And Truthful Is ChatGPT?

We all know that over the past eighteen months, artificial intelligence has become huge, I guess it's probably the most talked about subject on Wealthy Affiliate. Although I am not a massive fan of A.I., I'm grateful for the training that Wealthy Affiliate has created on the subject. AI can certainly be a very useful helper when used in the right way.

I remember around eighteen months ago, Roope put up the following post, "Is A.I. neutral? TRUTH revealed!" It made for interesting reading; you can see the post and the comparison below.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/roopekiuttu/blog/is-ai-neutral-truth-revealed

I was in a discussion with Kyle on a particular blog post regarding A.I. about how accurate A.I. is. I must admit I tend to disagree. Now, I appreciate that this probably varies from niche to niche. One of my niches is horticultural/landscaping equipment. I must admit that I have found A.I. to be really inaccurate on this subject.

So this led me to go and test out ChatGPT 4o to see how accurate it really is. The first subject I put into ChatGPT was regarding a lawnmower that has been around for around fifty years. It's a popular brand and they must have sold thousands of these machines across the U.K. over the years. However, ChatGPT's answer was totally wrong and I mean way out!

My apologies for the type of examples I will use below, but I'm trying to use examples to which members can relate.

First Question

Was Trump almost assassinated?

There have been multiple incidents and reports of potential threats to former U.S. President Donald Trump, but there hasn't been a widely confirmed instance of an "almost assassination" where an attempt came very close to success. Security measures for a sitting president are extremely stringent, and any threats are typically dealt with by the U.S. Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies.

If you're referring to a specific event or report, it would be helpful to have more details to provide a precise answer. However, to date, there hasn't been a widely recognized or reported incident where Trump was nearly assassinated.

If someone were on the roof and aiming at my head, I would call this an assassination attempt!

Question Two

Has President Biden been the most popular president ever?

Joe Biden is not the most popular president ever in terms of approval ratings. Presidential popularity can be measured through various metrics, but approval ratings are a common indicator.

As of now, Biden's approval ratings have fluctuated, often falling within the mid-40s to low 50s percentile range. These ratings are comparable to or lower than many other U.S. presidents at similar points in their presidencies.

For context, some of the most popular U.S. presidents by approval rating include:

1. Franklin D. Roosevelt: Had high approval ratings throughout his presidency, particularly during World War II.

2. John F. Kennedy: Averaged around 70% during his time in office.

3. Dwight D. Eisenhower: Often maintained approval ratings above 60%.

4. Ronald Reagan: Enjoyed high approval ratings, especially after his recovery from the attempted assassination and the end of his presidency.

5. Bill Clinton: Had high approval ratings, particularly in his second term.

These presidents generally experienced higher average approval ratings compared to Joe Biden. Factors influencing approval ratings include economic conditions, foreign policy successes or failures, and public perception of leadership during crises.

Question Three

Is Tommy Robinson far right, or does he just stand for truth and traditional British values?

Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is widely recognized as a far-right activist and commentator. His political activities and public statements have often been associated with far-right ideologies. Robinson co-founded and led the English Defence League (EDL), an organization known for its anti-Islamic rhetoric and street protests. He has also been involved with the British National Party (BNP) and the U.K. Independence Party (UKIP), both of which have been associated with far-right views.

Robinson's supporters often describe him as a defender of free speech and traditional British values, emphasizing his stance against radical Islam and illegal immigration. However, his critics argue that his activities and statements promote xenophobia, Islamophobia, and racism. His criminal record, which includes convictions for fraud and contempt of court, has also been a point of controversy.

It's important to note that terms like "far-right" can be subjective and context-dependent. While Robinson and his supporters may frame his activities as a defence of truth and traditional values, the broader consensus in the media and among analysts tends to classify his views and actions as part of the far-right spectrum.

What Are Your Thoughts?

So, is A.I. really as accurate as we are being led to believe? In my experience, which is using ChatGPT, it is not. Members are using A.I. to create Wealthy Affiliate reviews, which is leading to reviews that are almost identical to each other. I know that the Wealthy Affiliate training teaches us to make A.I. content our own, which we should do. It can give everyone a start and ideas on what to write, and definitely help with writer's block, etc.

As more and more content is written across the Internet, does this mean that A.I. will be scraping information from A.I. content that is already inaccurate?

It will be interesting to hear what other members think on the subject. I'm not here to be proved right; please feel free to challenge me, as we are all here to learn, and I'm listening.

Thank you for reading.

Hi Roy, I fell into the same misconception that AI was better than I have found it to be on my Niche, but now after working away at the training and my own training off the platform, I have learned that I know more about my niche than AI does, as it’s been thanking me for imparting my knowledge, so soon I should be able to tell you how up to date it is and as I fed it some plausible red herrings. After falling into the trap, while in the initial bouts of training, where things definitely feel a little overwhelming and using AI to write, thinking, wow this is very easy, I have just spent 5 days going back through all my posts and rewriting most of the areas I used it to write. So I do think it is niche dependent, has to how much help you can get, and I have several versions of AI to see what suits me best, using it for research and definitely tidying up my writing is a must and even though Grammerly keeps trying to muscle in, I use Bing for that.
So having learnt the hard way by way of editing nearly 40 longish posts skill specific I would advise to be wary of how much and what we ask AI to task!

Rob

Good morning Robby,

Thank you for your input, it's appreciated.

If I'm honest about AI, and I'm sure it's improving, it writes a huge amount of wordy waffle. However, the authors who put their name to it, don't appear to see that!

I keep hearing how clever AI is, but is it really that clever, it's not clever when it's writing incorrect information!

I think we have to be really careful with AI, as you have found out, Robby. Even sometimes using AI as an outline, it still appears to make writing difficult, especially when we know our niche.

It really sounds like we are on the same wavelength, Robby. The Wealthy Affiliate review posts that I see are absolutely appalling, 95% of these posts are all the same and written by AI. According to AI, Wealthy Affiliate is an ecosystem!! To my mind, it's just spilling out absolute rubbish. But it does mean that people can write five hundred posts per day!!😂😂

Have a great day and thank you for commenting.

Roy

Nice post, I do remember reading somewhere that Chatgpt only has accurate information up until 2022 I think. Would make sense as they would've needed to feed it accurate information at the time to help the AI provide answers for people.

I'd imagine since it's hit the mainstream since 2022 though it might be difficult to keep updating the information. Would explain why it wouldn't know of any events that have happened in the last year for instance.

I don't think it is the fault of the AI rather the developers at Open Ai haven't kept Chatgpt up to date with current events.

My apologies for the late reply, James; it seems like I missed your comment.

I just tried to ask the latest version of ChatGPT 4o, but it didn't really give me a solid answer! I know the early versions were a couple of years out of date, but I believe the present version does give more up-to-date information.

I'm guessing that in the future it will become more up-to-date or bring the latest information.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Have a great day.

Roy

Hi Roy. I see AI and Chat GPT is a hot topic. I was one that wrote an article about how Chat GPT works as an assistant. Now, how you have tested the waters with the AI is much deeper than I am feeling of Chat GPT. I do believe that the AI is going to only improve. So, I am very happy with Chat gpt and how it’s helping me improve my writing skills. Wishing you the best on your journey with AI. Roy, I enjoyed your deeper insight with AI because there are things I have learned of Chat gpt“limitations” at this time.

Good morning Rick,

I believe that AI is the most talked about topic here at Wealthy Affiliate!

I'm not sure if I have gone deeper than you regarding testing chat GPT, Rick. However, to be fair, people like yourself and the Wealthy Affiliate have always told us to use AI as an assistant. However, I believe that too many people are not using it as an assistant, so therefore, we are seeing content that is almost identical.

It sounds like you are using ChatGPT correctly, Rick, as you are saying that it's helping you improve your writing skills, that's fantastic! I think we can learn so much from each other, Rick, on this great platform.

Have a fantastic Tuesday.

Roy

Nice post Roy! AI is there to assist us at the moment and it does a bloody good job in my opinion!!

But.... it isn't perfect! Then again.... who is??

We just need to use it to our benefit, always check the data it gives us and not rely upon it too heavily!!!

It can certainly speed up what we want to do though!!

I think of it as having a secretary who works 24/7 and never demands a pay rise!!

In fact... I don't need to pay her at all!!

Take care buddy and enjoy a wonderful week!! :-)

Good morning Nick,

That sounds like the right way to use AI, Nick, it's definitely a very good helper or assistant.

That's a good way to look at it, none of us are perfect!

It's definitely important to check the data. If I asked for a Wealthy Affiliate review, ChatGPT would be quite accurate. Although, from what I can see, there would be thousand plus reviews of Wealthy Affiliate, which almost said exactly the same thing! However, if I use ChatGPT to tell me about a piece of machinery, I find that there is a very good chance of getting it wrong, big time!

That's handy having a secretary that works 24/7 and doesn't demand a pay rise, as yet! That sounds very useful, let's hope she doesn't answer back in the wrong way!

Have a fantastic Tuesday.

Roy

Good evening Roy!!

That's how I use it personally and of course none of us are perfect... perfection doesn't exist!

Always fact check the data and just use AI as a very helpful guide!!

Too damn hot for my liking here at the moment... think we hit 42°C this afternoon!!

Hopefully things will cool down a bit by the weekend.... at least two more days of this filth to survive first though!!

Take care my friend! :-)

Good morning Nick,

My apologies for the late reply, it's been a busy few days.

That's so true; perfection doesn't exist and if we think it does, it creates a lot of problems!

That's one of the many great things about the Internet, we can cross reference and fact-check!

That is very hot, Nick, that's a bit too much! Do you have air conditioning, that helps. It's even been quite warm here in the UK, although calling down a bit today. But obviously not 42° C!

Take care and stay cool.

Roy

No worries Roy!

Perfection certainly doesn't exist, we just need to do the best that we can!

I have a portable aircon unit in my bedroom, so I just camp out there with the extreme heat!

I think we only made it up 32 today, so not that bad!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday my friend and have a great start to the new week! :-)

Thank you for being understanding, Nick, it's appreciated.

Exactly, I couldn't agree with you more!

That sounds like a great idea with the portable air conditioning unit. I have always said to my wife that if we lived in Greece, I would like a small air-conditioned room that I could escape to, preferably my home office!

I'm glad the temperatures have dropped a bit, that sounds a bit more normal.

Have a fantastic day.

Roy

You're most welcome Roy!

If I ever lived in Greece I would invest in a full scale aircon unit for the whole property like I had in Brazil!!

Back up to 35 today but I am going on holiday on Saturday... so just a few more days to survive... then hopefully by the end of August it will be more manageable!!

Take care my friend! :-)

Thank you, Nick, it's appreciated.

I understand where you're coming from, Nick, it's something I would think about. My wife doesn't particularly like air conditioning, however, I must admit that her house appears to stay quite cool in the summer months, despite the hot weather. The house gets quite a through breeze running through it, which helps a lot.

Are you going to the North Pole to cool down, Nick?😂 Have a great time away in a good break.

Roy

I'm not a huge fan of air con either really Roy.... it messes with my sinuses!!

But when it's hot... no option!

Honestly.... I wish I was going to the North Pole, but we are heading down to the beach at Nice!!

Wish me luck... I'm not looking forward to the train journey first thing tomorrow morning!! :-)

I hear you, Nick, my wife doesn't like it, but I must admit I love having the air conditioning on in the car, even in the UK!

When I go to Greece I enjoy the warm weather, however, I'm not working and being on the beach can be very pleasant. Often as we walk off the beach, I remark about how the temperature quickly increases, or it certainly feels like it does!

I'm sure going to the beach at Nice will be nice!!😁

I really like the train, it may be partly because I have to drive quite a bit, but I find it relaxing letting the train take the strain! I hope your journey goes well all went well. Have a great time and relax.

All the best.

Roy

In the UK Roy?? That's most likely the heating you have on.... not the aircon!!!!

I'm actually enjoying the train as I type....

We've just left Marseille and now it's a couple of hours up the coast to Nice.... and the aircon in First class is not too shabby either!!

Have a wonderful weekend my friend! :-)

That's true, Nick and I am referring to the UK, although when we are in Greece, my wife normally opens the car windows. Realistically, we almost have the heating on for 9 months of the year in the UK, from September to often the end of May, it just takes the chill off!

That's good, Nick, that's another thing that I like about the train, you can actually do things when you are travelling.

That sounds nice, I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Roy

When travelling around Greece, it's windows closed and aircon on for me Roy!!

I hear you about having the heating on back home though...

Enjoying things so far here... obviously too hot for my liking but the pool helps!! :-)

I understand where you are coming from, Nick!

Yes, the heating is not off for many months here in the UK!

It's supposed to be the hottest day of the year in the UK today, up to 34° C in East Anglia!

I'm glad that you are enjoying yourself, Nick and it's great that you have the swimming pool nearby, that helps a lot. Make the most of your break and come back refreshed.

Have a great week.

Roy

At this point in time, AI is not meant to create complete content. AI is best for research and being your Administrative Assistant, which is why you see it stressed over and over, to check the facts you get from AI. However, for researching, developing, and other uses like images, charts, graphs, etc. AI can be indispensable and now I can't imagine not using these amazing programs to help with your content creation. It saves time and showcases ideas you may never have thought of.

Nancy

I agree with you, Nancy, but many people are using it to create complete content, from what I have seen.

That is so true, we have so much training on the subject here at Wealthy Affiliate and yet I still see many people using AI in the wrong way!

It's amazing how quickly we get used to something being the norm.

Have a great day and thank you for commenting.
