Camtasia Nine Is Now Working!

Some of you may have seen my question regarding Camtasia nine crashing, you can see my question here.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/website-development-programm...

I contacted Camtasia support who were very helpful and obliging and although they didn't get to the bottom of the problem, they did mention that Microsoft One Drive can create issues.

I use Microsoft Office 365 which gives me word, excel and more et cetera, Office 365 also comes with Microsoft One Drive which I use. I used to save everything to my documents and I still do, but now it is synced with One Drive. It appears that One Drive and Camtasia were clashing with each other and this was causing Camtasia to crash.

I have now set up a separate folder, which is not connected with One Drive, once the videos are edited I can then move the videos to the normal place within One Drive.

So to conclude, do not save your files to One Drive and use Camtasia, it will crash, or it did for me!

Thank you for reading.

Roy,

I'm glad you got this sorted. While not the preferred answer you at least now have a work around.

- Glen B

Thank you, Glen, for taking the time to reply, I do appreciate it.

Yes, the problem is kind of solved, but maybe not in the best way as you mentioned Glen. This is the problem with Microsoft sometimes, their products can be good but they can also create a few niggles at times!

Have a great weekend.

Roy

That is so true Roy and why I switched to Macs about 15 years ago.

- Glen B

I hear you, Glen, this has crossed my mind in the past, although not recently. Unfortunately, I was on Windows XP until about 4 1/2 years ago, I then went to Windows 7 and then upgraded to Windows 10, I have to say that Windows 7 and 10 have been an absolute, massive improvement! With XP, I would have to regularly reboot 2 to 3 times a day, it would take 10 minutes to shut down and 10 minutes to come on, unbelievable!

However, I think you definitely did the right thing, Glen, upgrading to a Mac as there are various little issues as mentioned in this thread!

How wonderful day.

Roy

Roy, For me the switch wasn't easy. I had so many tools that I used day to day in my job and was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to find a replacement.

So before I bought a Mac I built a HackIntosh on a separate partition on my laptop. I then found replacements for all the programs I used.

It was eye opening as I found better software that worked much better.

I hear you on Windows XP what a mess that OS was. I never moved off of 7 even to this day I test things in a windows environment but do so in Windows 7. I have played with 10 such a big change in interface from Windows 7. Took me a while to figure everything out.

Anyway I run my machines almost constantly. Have never had a virus or even had to reboot. The only time I reboot is on an upgrade to the OS.

And once you get used to it the interface is so much nicer.

Thank you Glen for your very informative comment, it sounds like you have quite a bit of technical knowledge, which is so useful. I wish I knew more about these things, however, we keep learning! I always find it interesting how something functions, for example, a computer or a piece of machinery, I find it extremely fascinating.

It is amazing that you have never had to reboot your Apple computer apart from upgrading something. I am glad that Windows is not bringing out any new operating systems, just upgrades, I believe, which is much better. There is only so much you can do to with an operating system and sometimes I think why change something that works! As I mentioned in a previous comment, I definitely find Windows 10 in my experience to be very stable, despite the little niggles with one drive.

I really appreciate your feedback Glen, thank you.

Enjoy your day.

My Pleasure Roy, I have been building, programming, and working with computers before Bill Gates even put out his first desktop. He was still in the garage when I started.

Wish I would have had his vision.

I'm glad you got to the source of the problem, Roy. I don't use One Drive.

Thank you Marion, One Drive is relatively new to me, although I've probably been using One Drive for the last 18 months. It has its good points, for example, if I take a photograph on my phone I can then quickly access it from my laptop and I can use One Drive across devices. However, as I mentioned to Glen, there can be a few niggles with Microsoft products!

Have a great weekend.

Roy

Thanks for sharing this Roy.

Derek

No problem Derek, a pleasure.

Enjoy your weekend.

Roy

Roy,

Your questions are always informative. What did you find out about your question regarding your You Tube traffic?

Chuck

Hello Chuck,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my blog post, I do appreciate it.

It was a mixed response Chuck regarding YouTube, I believe that is something where extreme care has to be taken. Probably the best way is to keep making videos and optimise and make good descriptions and keywords, gradually they will be found.

Have a great weekend Chuck.

Thanks for sharing, Roy, just looking at camtasia, it is good to build a picture.

Thank you take the time to comment Alex. Camtasia certainly seems very popular despite myself having a few issues with it. I have also heard that SnagIt is good, a simplified version of Camtasia, in fact, SnagIt would almost be better for me as I don't use Camtasia to full capacity and SnagIt is cheaper to buy.

Have a good weekend.

Roy

Hi Roy thanks for the heads up, probably drawn to results. I have seen with camtasia, obviously a learning curve goes with it.

That's good Alex, I have to say that when I emailed Techsmith (owners of Camtasia) they soon came back to me and were very helpful. There are also video instructions to help you use Camtasia.
