What Makes The Best Website Content

Knowing What Your Customers Need Or Want

Hi Folks

Ironically enough, SEO isn’t really about your position in the SERPs. It’s about delivering real value to real people.

The Google Search Quality Guidelines specifically say that when you create content that your peeps love, it will rank higher. That’s because:

People spend more time on pages with great quality long form content, and don’t go back to the result pages after clicking on a page with great content. Why would they? They have already found all the information they were looking for.

These are both things that Google interprets as markers of great content.

Because Google wants people to find amazing content, this should be on your content goal list, too. Why? Because when Google sees great content, they rank it higher.

Before you search for keywords and content topics that help your business rank higher, spend some time thinking about what would help your potential customers. How could your experience and/or knowledge make their day better? When you can answer this, you’ll know what to write about.

What Makes Quality Content?

That's an easy question to answer. Content that answers your customers needs and wants.

Study after study shows that long-form content is the winner when it comes to SEO.

If you think about it, it makes sense: the longer a piece, the better it can explain a certain topic and answer all the questions a visitor may have. Hence, they spend more time on your page and go back to the results pages less often.

Typically, a long-form piece of content has more than 2,000 words. But you shouldn’t really be thinking about the numbers.

Just think about explaining the topic you are writing about. Analyze every angle, support your claims with references and add relevant graphics to it.

Write like you would explain things to a friend. I know, we are all busy and long-form content takes time to produce. But you can always outsource writing.

SEO is a balancing act. If you try to rig the game and spam search engine bots with irrelevant links, and keyword stuffing you’ll end up ranking lower than before.

Instead, you should focus on delivering value. Value for your customers and value for the internet in general. There is plenty of rubbish content online as it is. Don’t add to it.

To Finish - Focus on writing something relevant and well documented that people actually want to read.

There you have it folks.

I'm sure you have read it many times within the wealthy affiliate training and there is a reason for that. Quality content will always beat crap hands down every time.

Have a great day and be successful.

I often have intended to write longer posts. It just seems that I end up making my point faster with fewer words. To the point that I feel if I try to put too many more words, I'm just adding fluff to my posts. I do understand what you are saying though.

The research, if done correctly, will give the content length and quality we all need to achieve. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate your tidbits of information as always.

Hi Bob and thank you for reading and your input.
I too sometimes publish short posts and to be honest with you they do achieve a good enough rank.

I think that if you can only publish a 500 word article and you believe it contains all the pertinent information that's required for a reader to make up their mind then that is ok.

However if you are writing a product review then the more information you can give the better and of course that would be in a long form.

Have a good one Bob.

You are correct. I try to do enough research to give a good review. I have a couple of my reviews that I may need to revisit.

Or not, lol.

Onwards and upwards Bob.
Long form or short form whatever you believe is the right length for what you are promoting will be best.

true indeed, and writing an article with 2000 words is quite a tusk. I remember a time I was so tired from job , going also to part time job and I was to write an article to post, I went to Google, searched for a topic then copy pest as I fix some of my words here and there just to have more than 1000 words. I was surprised when I clicked to post my article, immediately I got a massage that my article is not 100% from me. so when I read your article I understand how true it is. thanks for sharing.

Hello Bruce
Original and content in your own words is always best.
You might think that cutting corners is ok just one time because you are too tired is ok but the search engines will find out almost right away if its been published somewhere else.
So if you are too tired then leave it for another day.
Thank you for your input Bruce and have a good one.

Awesome post Robert. Your graphics reinforce your content and that alone helped me see ways to improve my own website posts. I keep hearing the long posts idea and sure didn't realize that 2400 words rank the highest.
Will have to get rid of the idea of keeping it simple and what you say makes sense. When I do research I don't stop long when the site post is short; I want the whole story.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ray
Lots of members and especially the newer ones say they don't know what to write about and once they get past the first paragraph that's it, they can't seem to write anymore.

I know it takes time to write a really long article but if you stick at it and write then come back I know that the time away will give birth to more of what you can add to the article.

If you hit a wall then stop right away and go and do something else and all the while your brain will be turning over what you have written so far and what more you can add.

you may not think so but I've been writing a lot of years and that's how it works.

Have a good one ray.

I love this information, thank you once again Robert. You keep my brains from being idle. I just tried this and wrote more than 5 thousand words. Thank you.

By the way, where do you get your info-graphics, did you create them yourself?

Hello llaisanne, sorry about the late reply but my oldest girl came down from up north to spend the day with her old dad coz it was my 70th birthday today.

Glad you liked the blog and it inspired you to write so much.
But you know, if it wasn't in you to do that then you would not have been able to bring it out, so pat yourself on the back coz well done you!

I use one site in particular to access images and then I work on them to produce my own unique graphic.

Enjoy your Saturday.
