Techniques And Tactics For Attracting Organic Traffic
Hello Folks
I have asked for comments via the ‘Request Comments’ function of WA for my past 4 articles (the replies have been - WOW, Great Stuff, etc etc) and my replies to the ‘How To’ questions that have been asked from all who responded are set out below.
For the posts on my sites, I have developed a five-point strategy to maximize the search visibility of my site for the search engine spiders.
Right click and choose open in new TAB to view enlarged if you're using Chrome and View Image if you're using Firefox.
1. Keyword Research
I don't do keyword research for each post I actually create, but it can be great for identifying what to write about so you potentially reach the maximum number of people in your demographic.
To get an example, and a rough idea of the topic I have to write about. Some keyword research can help show a particular keyword to pay attention to, where there's a higher prospect of me to rank and attract that particular traffic.
I'll use the SEO all-in-one tool to help optimize the post for the keyword.
But at all times, my number 1 top priority is value for the visitor. I write for the reader, not search engines. And paradoxically, that helps me rank well.
2. Create Longer Content
Study shows that longer content ranks more highly in the search engines. This kind of could be for a number of reasons, for example:
Longer content will keep people on the page for a longer time, which helps rankings.
It provides more value and even more reasons for other sites to url to and share the content, again helping rankings.
I, therefore, concentrate on creating posts that are in least 2,000 words. Often they go over 3, 000 words and now and again between 5 and 10 thousand words.
This isn't about stretching out a slender topic to breaking point for the sake of reaching a predefined expression count.
But it is about:
(a) Writing on a topic that's meaty enough to achieve a high expression count naturally; and
(b) Providing lots of value to the visitor by going into the matter in depth, and providing as much helpful information as I can.
3. Use Imagery/Audio/Video etc
I always add images in my posts, and sometimes but not all of the time, Featured Image so that it shows at the top.
The latter helps with engagement on sociable, so means more people click through to the content, they're more likely to share it, and so on.
The featured image is also useful when repurposing the content. For example, it is usually re-used as the thumbnail for YouTube video, the cover page for a SlideShare presentation, and as a cover image to use when posting the information to LinkedIn or Google+ and in other places.
I also include other images within the post itself to help breakup the text and also to provide more appeal to the reader. Pertaining to example, I would provide an image of utilizing a site I mention, or a chart that helps visualize some data.
4. Optimize for Opt-Ins
Of course, attracting visitors to your site is of little use unless it has some benefit for your business.
The key is to maximize the amount of visitors you are able to convert into leads for your business.
The first thing one needs to do is to create content updates for your posts. This offers content of additional value, directly relevant to the post in question, in exchange for an e-mail address.
It can be as simple as a PDF version of the information in the post. Or perhaps some additional information that is merely available to those who choose to opt-in.
5. Adapt the Meta Information
In WordPress, you may use the Yoast plugin or SEO-All-In-One to modify the meta description for every post. The meta information is what can show for the web webpage when it's classified by the SERPs.
Through careful crafting of the text, you can boost the number of people clicking through to your webpage, somewhat than that of rivalling sites in the Search engines. This can help to enhance your ranking over time and attract more visitors over a longer term.
The most important factor though is to publish content on a constant basis. This creates the authority of your site, and means you develop lots of content over time, giving you more rankings across an array of related keywords.
By using this strategy and combining it with content repurposing and social media, you create the kind of website that is practically pre-programmed to attract increasing levels of traffic over time.
Ok all you people who took the time to comment on my articles I hope this is what you were asking about. If not then you know who I am so drop me a PM and I will be happy to explain anything else you want more info on.
