Are You Making These Mistakes

Hi Folks

Have you ever made one of those mistakes that costs you a lot of money, or one that you wouldn't have made if you had only known better?

I know for a fact that I have, and not just once but many times when I started out working online.

But when you think about it, when you're running an online business, making mistakes comes with the territory, especially if you're new to it.

With that being said, and from my own experience, I have compiled a list of mistakes you must avoid in order to have the best chance of becoming successful with your home business.

1. Putting All Your Eggs in One Basket

So many times I see folks who are focusing on building an e-commerce business solely around one specific platform. Now, while it may seem smart at first to identify a niche and focus on only one business, I've found that doing so is extremely risky, especially if you’re relying on third-party platforms such as eBay and Amazon.

Once you learn to master one platform, move onto the next. Get used to learning how to spread out the number of eggs you have in each basket.

2. Not Following the TOS

TOS stands for terms of service, and every platform has one. The key here is to make sure you take the time when first getting started to understand the rules.

Time and time again, I see WA Members getting their accounts suspended or even banned because they failed to follow the terms of service. Read the rules people!

3. Following the Crowd

One of the biggest mistakes I see are people who rely 100 percent on following the crowd. I can’t stress this enough. The most important thing you need to do while in business is be creative and go outside the box.

Now, I'm not saying that what everyone else is doing is wrong. What I'm saying is that you need to be able to think on your own and do things differently. It’s great to model success, but don’t be scared to do something no one has ever done before!

4. Not Staying Current with Information

One of the greatest perks to being a part of a community like Wealthy Affiliate or any other for that matter, is being able to stay up to date with current information.

When you have a community of like-minded people who are all there to help one another out, you will always have access to the latest and most up-to-date news.

When it comes to e-commerce and various third-party platforms, the rules are always changing, and you need to be aware of this!

5. Trying to Do It All Yourself

One of the quickest ways to create a job for yourself instead of building a true business is by trying to do everything yourself. With all the technology of the Internet today, it’s easier than ever to outsource low-leverage tasks and hire help for your business.

If you’re at the point where you feel as though your business is growing too fast for you and you don’t have any time, you need to look into hiring help. If you don’t, you are setting yourself up for failure down the road.

6. Treating Your Business Like a Hobby

To be honest, I really don’t know what causes this, but I've noticed that one of the biggest mistakes new entrepreneurs make in e-commerce is treating it like a hobby instead of a business.

I can tell you right now, from my own years of experience of selling on Amazon, eBay, Craigslist, Etsy, antique fairs, flea markets, etc, that if you want to create a profitable business, you need to take your business seriously!

Because really, at the end of the day, if you're offering anything for sale in exchange for someone else's money, that is a big responsibility!

7. Taking Advice from People Who Aren’t Successful

We’ve all made this mistake in the past, and I think it’s really something to learn from. Only take advice from people who have already achieved what it is you’re looking to achieve!

For example, if you want to make $2,000 a month selling on eBay, then don’t take advice from someone who is only making $200 a month and has very little experience.

Take advice from someone who has the experience and has already gone through what you’re venturing out into.

Ok folks that's all for this blog, and I hope I have given you food for thought.

Onwards and upwards and be successful.

Good for you C & P. All good tips and advice will come in handy somewhere down the line.
You have a great weekend as well.

Thanks Robert, could not agree more.
I think to be a part of a community like WA, is also very important. Creating an online business can be a very lonely task without support and encouragement.
Daily we read so many stories, that keep us on track.

Hello Jivita, its the first time I have seen a comment from you so thank you for your visit and hope there will be lots more.

It is important to surround yourself with like-minded people.
People who want the same as you do and of course with people who have already achieved success.

Onwards and upwards Jivita and never look back.

Hello Robert, that's an interesting deduction but in fact I've been earning money online exclusively since Dec. 2015.

What I've not yet done is do so passively. So in that sense I am looking for good models of success and find what you have to offer here very useful and pertinent. Truth be told I don't have a firm grasp as to how successful you have been in developing passive income streams online.

I do believe, as you say, that NOT quitting is essential to this success. I've been more and more leaning towards a niche focusing on how to achieve the correct mindset in order for one to develop ones own deep potential in life.

Cheers and I do look forward to more of your wisdoms :) Marc

Dear Robert-A you bring up some very valuable advice, and I enjoy reading this imagining you have a cool accent. I agree putting all eggs into one basket is a recipe for rotten egg spoily failure. It also helps to focus without getting tunnel or funnel vision.
Just imagine the people who were all in for Google Adsense. I hope you are well today. I was planning out and editing blogs when I came across this, and it is reassuring to me. And intrigues my imagination.
Thank you & kind Regards,
Nurse Becca

Becca dear lady I'm afraid there's a pretty good chance you wouldn't understand a word I was saying if I was talking to you lol
