Finding Your Niche

This blog is aimed primarily at the members who have only recently joined but it wont do the more seasoned members any harm to read it either.
Right from the very start of you thinking about what to call your website you should be thinking about what niche you are going to target. Once you have decided on this you should name your site accordingly and make sure you have great keywords as part, if not for the whole of its name.
A great way to achieve this is to have some idea what your product is going to be. At least what category your product will fall into because when you are considering starting an online business such as you will be building within wealthy affiliate you want to make sure you find the right product(s).
What do you want to sell?
What do you want to promote?
What is your passion?
What subject or topic do you have a lot of knowledge about?
One small but important point to remember is that selling a product online is easier than selling a service. But, selling a service online makes more money with monthly memberships such as Wealthy Affiliate does.
Therefore…Before you spend any time working on a website, you want to be sure that your customers are going to be interested in what you’re selling/promoting. Do your market research. Start by seeing how many competitors you have - this is a good sign. Read through newsgroups, discussion boards, and chat rooms and learn about your target market customer base. If you already have an email list, from a previous venture send them a survey to see what they are most interested in.
Most internet marketers preach that there are three reasons why a customer will want to buy your product.
Your product has solved a problem for your customer.
Your product has made life easier or more comfortable for your customer.
You are very passionate about your product and it shows in everything you do.
When researching your niche, you may want to use www.Amazon.com and find the current top sellers. Find out what people are reading about. You will want to research keywords with keyword tools such as the free in-house wealthy affiliate one or its sister program Jaaxy. I personally use www.wordtracker.com quite a lot though the free WA tool is just as good and onsite for you when doing your keyword research.
No matter what Keyword Tool you prefer you need to discover which keywords are being searched for frequently.
Doing a little poking around your competitors sites isn’t a bad idea either. This is one way to come up with ideas on what would make your site different or better. Take a look at their traffic rankings and their related links. By analyzing this information, you can see how many visitors they have each day and how profitable their company/business is.
Once you find your passion, ask yourself. Does this serve my customers?
You want to provide an excellent service to each and every person that spends their money with you. This cuts down on complaints, bad reputations, and, worse of all, chargeback’s.
There you go folks, if you follow these simple tips you will cut down on a lot of time and wasted effort. Get it right and get it right from the word go and you are of to a great start building your business website.

This is exactly the reason why after almost 40 days in WA, I'm back to square one. I've created and deleted 5 websites based on keywords alone.
I should say one should start looking from within at first. He may have a lot of interests and could start filling in the WA Keyword Tool or Jaaxy or any other tool. He will be overwhelmed!
He could then narrow down the list that he is really passionate about. Choose one. Just one. Then start the keyword research. If there's too little market in there, he can jump to the next list of shortlisted passion. Rinse and repeat until everything matches.
I'm starting on my new site now. The passion and the keywords have exact match.

It is quite easy if you get it right but of course you could make one very small but telling mistake and you ruin all the good work you put into your campaign.
It all comes with experience just like anything else you undertake with no real shortcuts.

Everything you do within WA is geared towards you earning an income from the internet and therefore every little piece of info makes up the fuller picture of what you NEED to do.
Everything else is secondary to that goal.
