Level 1 Lesson 1 (Certification Course Revisited) - My Take After 4 Years and Additional Tips
I've decided to start the OEC course again, see what has changed, my take on it after 4 years, and provide additional tips.
Level 1 Lesson 1 Summary - Getting Rolling
- Kyle introduces himself, Carson, the community and the WA platform in this lesson.
- Complete your WA account (profile) setup.
Resources and Tasks
- WA walkthrough video
- Premium membership offer
- 3 Tasks to complete
Additional Tips
These additional tips are only my personal preferences and the things I wish I've done when I started. Some of these tips can save time and/or frustration down the line.
1. Explore the Wealthy Affiliate Platform
After you've completed the tasks for this lesson and before you move on to the next lesson, take the time to explore the WA platform.
A lot is going on and can be confusing at first. Not all of the features and their functions will be clear at first, but as long as you get a general idea. I would recommend re-watching the walkthrough video in the lesson and exploring the platform while Kyle explains it.
I'm still discovering new features after 4 years of being a member.
2. Understanding Your Membership
As a free starter member, you will have access to many features on the platform for 7 days, but most will expire after 7 days. You will still have access to your free subdomain website, but your interaction with the community will be limited.
It is during these 7 days you will decide whether WA is for you or not. Make the best of it.
You can extend this by another 30 days if you pay the initial $19 special premium membership fee. This gives you access to ALL the premium membership features that the "diamond" members get.
IMPORTANT: Memberships are automatically renewed MONTHY at the regular premium membership price of $49 (unless you sign up for the yearly membership).
Keep this in mind and cancel before the renewal date if you don't want to continue as a premium member.
SAD TO SAY
Unfortunately, WA removed the option to see your exact renewal date in accounts setting since they updated the new platform.
The only way to see your subscription renewal date is to look at the "Billing History" at the bottom of your subscription page and open your last invoice. You will see the period your subscription applies to on the invoice.
Terms and conditions apply if you want to cancel your premium membership regarding the website/s you already created. I'm not going into detail here but ask around if you need help.
MEMBERSHIP PAYMENTS ARE NONE REFUNDABLE
If you have any account payment issues, contact Carson.
You can find your account settings here: Account Settings
To cancel your membership: Subscription Settings (scroll down until you see "Cancel Billing")
3. Complete Your WA Profile (Account) Setup
Take a few minutes to complete your WA profile setup. There is a reason why this is important.
Please have a look at this training I created recently: How to Optimize Your Wealthy Affiliate Profile and Why it Matters
Conclusion
I recommend exploring the WA platform, understanding your membership, and setting up your WA profile before continuing to lesson 2.

Thanks for the great suggestions.
Those do seem like thinks that come up as we respond to questions in the OEC Training.
We wish you continued success in your online journey.
Great suggestions, Rika. I have started again as well to refresh and check out what is happening.
I don't know that I remember it all as it used to be, but as I now know more, more of the training sinks in and for that I am grateful.
Will need to share your information with new members.

Hi, Rika.
I like where you are going with this.
Keep it up.
I've created a file folder called 'Rika's Back.'
I remember the value you gave to me way back when I was getting started.
I can sense much more coming now.
Thanking you in advance.

Hi Paul. I really want to spend more time on my own websites, especially the new one.
I will share my take on the lessons after each lesson and would like to get some input from the community as well.
Have a great day!
Definitely spend the time building out your website.
Share when you can and we'll contribute when we can.
Nice to have you back.
Paul.
