Hi Support

I posted a couple of questions at the end of the lesson relating to Privacy Policy. mjbarrelat suggested i should ask you about it.

The questions are t

Rico, I think you do not reach support the right way... I'll show you how: 1)Click the light blue box Site Rubix on your left - 2) then find and click Site support which is the last one of the list - 3) you should arrive at Support Ticket Submission and answer "yes" to the first question and then choose your domain you have the problem with. Then post your question in number 4 (copy and paste the above). This will create a support ticket which will be sent to your email.
Hope this helps...

Hi Rico,
You did not create a support ticket by asking a question here. You have to move your cursor on SiteRubix blue tab on the left then go click on Site Support (at the bottom). Say yes to the first question that you have a question on your site and fill in the rest.

Support will answer you through the message area which will become a red envelope on the top bar.

Try it!

Thanks mj, i realised as soon as i posted no support ticket was created. I contacted support soon afterwards.

1. When they click a link that is on your page it takes them to another website or "third-party" website that may have their own policies that are different than yours.

2. I'm not sure what that refers to. What does the sentence before it say?

1) It means that if they follow your link to Amazon, Amazon's privacy policy takes over, not the one governing your site.
2) I'm not sure about this one, glad someone pointed it out. I will research and blog on it when I have an answer.

Thanks for your response, Cl. The sentence before 2 is a separate paragraph: "You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information on their practices as well as for instructions about how to opt-out of certain practices. YOURWEBSITE.com’s privacy policy does."

Sorry, copied the wrong section. The previous sentence is this: "YOURWEBSITE.com’s privacy policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such other advertisers or web sites."

I think I'm lost and not sure what the question is any longer. It is a disclaimer to indemnify themselves from any material that they may not be responsible for. If you click on a link that takes you to another website, say Amazon as onmyownterms used above, then the privacy policy of Amazon prevails.

The second part of my question was about the sentence: "You can opt out of all communication with http://YOURWEBSITE.com simply by leaving this page." I didn't understand how simply leaving a page would opt you out of all communication with the site - i have a feeling there are missing words there, too. Your question was, "What does the sentence before it say?" The answer is,"YOURWEBSITE.com’s privacy policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such other advertisers or web sites." I understand the meaning of this, but don't understand the sentence that comes after it.

Ok. I see. I think it probably means opt out by leaving the website not the page.

Thanks Cl, but i don't see how leaving the site stops all communication either eg if you're signed up to a newsletter. But until i'm clear on this, i've taken the simple route out: removed it from the policy on my site!

You have a definite point. Or on the email list. The privacy policy they use as an example is just that, though. So I think I will review mine soon!! Thank you.
