Is Family Support Important With WA?
This question has haunted me throughout my life when I tried different ventures. At first, I had the support of family and friends every time I tried any money-making venture. However, over time and many failures, this support faded until it became extinct. I now find myself alone, without the support of my family. I am not taken seriously anymore because of all of my past failures.
As I have mentioned in my previous posts, I have learned from my mistakes and am now on the road which could lead to a success future. However, one of the biggest lessens I have learned is that family support IS critical in being successful. Afterall, it is essential to be able to turn to someone close for advice, or hear their opinion, when needed. Trying to go alone is a road map to disaster.
I have found that once things start to improve and signs of being successful can be seen, then opinions of family and friends can be swayed. Yes, there will always be pessimists about anything other than a salary, but these must be overcome by proving them wrong. To prove them wrong requires extra effort on your part. Once again I ask, "how bad do you want success?". If you want it bad enough, you will work hard enough to gain the family support that is critical in achieving your dream - SUCCESS!

I have no support either, and I also value the support of WA, like hart48 said they are so much like family. We are traveling down the road together, our journeys maybe different but we are there for each other along the way. We understand and can help, support and encourage each other, maybe more so, than family and friends who are not taking the same road.
My husband is very supportive, but other members of the family have no interest. That is why I value the support community at WA so much. They are so much like family.
I agree wholeheartedly. It would be nice to have family support but WA is the next best thing.
My family and friends always thought I was crazy to try anything online but they have learned to tolerate if not support.
While I think it's important I didn't have it either in my early days with WA. But now I just make comments about things I've learned or what I'm writing about. They have looked at my site and think it's pretty cool but they don't really read anything. Oh well, they know I'm happy doing this, and maybe that's all we get from them at first. Great discussion here.
As long as your happy is all that matters. You can prove them all wrong when you become successful. Just maintain a positive attitude.

A very nice blog, and it raises some important points. Some of the effort in building a successful website isn't just building content and making decisions. Some of it is continuing on and working at it when no one in your immediate circle seems to think it's a very good idea.
All you need is a belief in yourself and perseverence. Respect from family will come later when you prove to them that you CAN be successful.
Family support can be very important to one's personal success. But also having friends that are encouraging and that you can turn to for advice goes a long way. Thankfully that support and encouragement can be found through the connections we make here at WA.

I haven't shared this endeavor with a lot of people. I have some support for my husband, but my time has been completely focused here and I do worry if he is going to start to question the amount of time spent working because he doesn't understand. Unless you've been here and seen the support of the community, it is difficult to understand.
Thank you Karyskis for your comments. I guess I have tried so many opportunities over the years, and failed, that my wife and everyone else just gave up on me. However, with a lot of work and perseverence, I will prove to them that I can succeed. Only then will I have their support.
Now, in your case, I understand why you are spending so much time trying to develop your business but please don't forget your family comes first, then your business. At least that's how I look at it.
