One Year Report as a Premium Member with Wealthy Affiliate
One year ago on February 27th, I found my way to Wealthy Affiliate. Within seven days, I made the decision to become a Premium Member knowing that every decision I make and every action I take in life has the potential for consequence or reward. Either way I am responsible for the outcome.
At that time, I told myself, “I will commit one full year to this membership, complete the training courses, build at least one website and then evaluate the wisdom of my decision.”
Truthfully, I had no clue about how to build a website without hiring a web designer. I had been burned by the “Free Website” builders. I was fearful of making another dumb mistake.
One year and three websites later, I can say I am convinced I made the right decision to become a Premium Member of Wealthy Affiliate.
The Importance of Focus
It has been a busy year for me. In addition to building my websites to achieve my income goals, I spent a great deal of time developing my own products that I can now market online.
In doing so I learned the universal truth about focus is this:whatever you focus on with intensity and desire you will ultimately accomplish.
I exceeded my goal for coaching income but, I didn’t hit my lofty goal for affiliate income last year.To do so, I knew I would need 10 conversions a day at an average sales commission of $28; which means 200 visitors a day at a modest 5% conversion. With the right products, promotion and traffic I reasoned that I had set a realistic goal. I was wrong about that.
Even though I did not make as much affiliate income with my WA websites in 2013 as I had hoped to, I did make affiliate income, coaching income and referral fee income from my websites. And, by building a unique product funnel, I set myself up for an additional income stream and a greater year in 2014.
NOTE:If you are new to internet affiliate marketing I would not advise you to build more than one website your first year as I did for the simple reason that to make serious money, each site needs to be targeted to a specific audience looking to purchase the products you promote. It takes awhile to test products, CTAs and so forth.
Your site's conversion pages must be targeted to people who are in the buying phase of their online search. Your website must be focused on content that appeals to a large enough group of people to make the sales you need for your income goals.
Websites need a lot of content and social media buzz to generate decent traffic. It takes time to build traffic and generate income from your website. Unless you have the ability to outsource and manage your projects you will dilute your income goals by spreading yourself too thin.
I deliberately chose to build three websites in three different niches that I am passionate about. As I think through my business model, I see the flaw and that is this—it is difficult to stay focused on more than one project at the same time. It was arrogant of me to think I could somehow defy the odds.

How right you are. Time is the most precious commodity of life. It is far better to spend time developing our valuable contribution to others than it is to work in a job we hate. I really think the only way a person would not succeed with online marketing is 1) they haven't identified the best money-making niche for your passion 2) they expect miracles and are impatient when it comes to the time it takes to succeed 3) they suck at writing good content 4) they are in it for the money and not for the love of helping people. I am new to all of this. I have been a massage therapist for 25 years and need another steam of income. Every time I think about getting online I get overwhelmed with all that I need to learn and how much it will cost to get started. Even though these thoughts have been overwhelming I have not giving up this dream and now I have found a product line that feels right to me. Can this program hold my hand with this whole process? without costing a super lot of money? What would be a realistic amount of income an online business could generate in 3 month, 6 months and a year? I hope I'm not asking questions that are uncomfortable and out of line these are just the things that I have gotten stuck on and don't know where to go for real help.

I have been here around 2 and a half months and it most certainly does hold your hand step by step, good training great community support and considering I knew abosolutely nothing starting out have my website up and adding and improving, you will always have support and help here

Overwhelm is common among all who have a sincere dream of earning money with online marketing. There is so much to learn and unfortunately a lot of unscrupulous IMs out there who are in it only for the money. Don't get me wrong...money is important, but the Law of Contribution teaches us that first we must contribute something of value to the marketplace (universe) before we can expect to receive the abundance we deserve.
WA will definitely hold your hand the whole way. I would encourage you to invest in a Premium Membership because the value far outweighs the cost. Think of it like an investment. When you get a return on your money from the learning and support you receive, you are investing in yourself and your future business.Treat your website like a business. WA isn't a social club...it is an online learning university and knowledge is power in the world of internet marketing.
As to making money...that all depends on your niche, the profitability of your products and most importantly on YOU! How much of the right kind of effort you put into your online business venture.

I have been a premium member for a month. Your post is inspirational and I hope that in a years time I will be sitting with a few websites making an affiliate income. I would love in a years time to make this my main income.
I know it's not going to be easy but I am confident that if I stick with it I will succeed.
I'm sure you will do whatever you set your mind to. I would caution you not to build more than one site at a time. Follow Kyle's instruction to get one site built out and drawing traffic before monetizing. It takes awhile to get enough high quality content to draw consistent traffic.
